Ann, glad to hear the class went well. I had faith. Robin, glad to know the booty ride was fun even though you didn't get to ride as much as you hoped. My daughter and her family arrived bright and early this morning. I only got to see the 3 yr old before I left for work. Well, and his daddy briefly as I could not leave with only a 3 yr old running around the house by himself. LOL. I work today and tomorrow and then I am off the rest of the week with them, except for the time out on Tue to get a colonoscopy. I am not looking forward to that. Tomorrrow I get to drink that crap all day long. Sounds like you are headed in for a good week. Well, except for the colonoscopy thing. Good news is that it will be a jump start for weight loss, do a before and after weighing. (It is funny, my spell check does not recogonize colonoscopy as a word. The creator of the program must have had one ) |

Caleb will be awesome as sweep. Are you going to use your own new kayak? I've told you all before that I volunteer for the Park Service to help with the kayak classes. We have a class this afternoon. It was just going to be me, Donnie is covering the dining hall at the carnival tonight for his sister and Caleb was going to help him. The Park Service employee who usually runs the classes called me this morning and told me she had a headache and she asked me if I felt comfortable taking the class out without her. It is a full class, plus she had a couple of other people call and ask if they could still join. I hate to have her cancel, so I'm going to lead the class. Caleb is now coming with me to help. He will do my normal job of bringing up the rear and keeping an eye on everyone. He does a good job of talking to the people, too, and he has done the class enough I'm confident he will be able to answer most of the questions that people ask. Things rarely go as I have planned. Class went well. I think. There were 11 people in the class, 10 had never been in a kayak before. We did find a new, big, beaver dam in one of the channels we kayak through. I did get to point out a blue heron to people. Answered a lot of questions about kayaks and kayaking. Caleb answered some, too. It's a good thing I talk about them a lot, he knew what he was talking about. I did have one guy go in the water, but that was when he was getting in. Caleb went out first, showing people how to get in their kayak, then he stayed out in the water, to talk to people and keep an eye on things as they got on the lake. I was helping people get in, then giving them a push out into the water. One guy thought he could do it by himself. He probably could have if he wasn't in knee deep water when he tried to get in. He lost his balance. He laughed it off, then let me help him. I think everyone stayed to help clean up and put all of the equipment away, which made it nice for Caleb and I. I'd do it again if I had to. I did not take my kayak. It's considered a crossover, it's not as stable as the recreational kayaks, and if I would have had to switch boats with someone I wanted to have something stable to give them. Caleb took his though, his is a recreational kayak. Sounds like a fantastic day. I bet Caleb did a great job and I also bet he was proud that you were able to rely on him. Being able to have confidence in your kid is priceless! He was great! When we got to the beaver dam that I didn't know existed I went over it, then I stayed there as everyone else went over, just to make sure they could clear it, and an angry beaver didn't show up. Once he got through he wove his way up through everyone else and took the lead. We stopped a short way up, where the creek coming down splits, and I did a short talk on the benefits of wetlands. He was in a better position to take the lead down the other channel, so he took off and everyone followed. He went down the channel backwards so he could keep an eye on everyone. He's a good kid. The boy and I went kayaking in a new lake yesterday. In the 95 minutes we were in the water we saw 14 turtles, 3 blue herons, and 3 what I think were great egrets (they looked similiar to heron's but they were white). |

Champion 16743 Somewhere I can be nekidd | Subject: RE: GHOULIES moving towards the islands. My husband and I made a $50 wager on who could lose 20 pounds first. I'm pretty confident I will win. I WANT to win. I WANT to lose weight. I WANT to be fit. I CAN cut junk out of my diet. He will get a snack out of the pantry 5 minutes before dinner is ready. He can't cut out the treats. He also doesn't work out other than walking around campus at work. Plus I WANT the $50! I weighed in this morning and if our scale is correct I weigh less than I thought I did, which is good. I only want to lose 40 pounds now instead of 50. There is a scale at work in the ladies room. I weighed myself there, too, and the 2 numbers were almost identical. I'll let you all know what I spend my $50 on. |

They are not common in land here but are on the coast. We only see them here if there is a major storm down by Charleston. They fly up the Broad River till they get to the edge of the mountains, wich is here. I bet you spend at least part of that 50 bucks on socks! Go Ann- just don't go to fast and get hurt!!!!! Off to do chores today, take the mom shopping, get nails done. go to farmers market. (I gotta get my canning started.) Have great days, all! |

I was living vicariously through you. I took Keri into the park and we worked on softball skills for over an hour. We've been watching the Olympics, and she told me maybe I'd be watching her play softball on TV someday. I told her if she wanted it she'd have to work for it. She worked pretty hard last night. The sweat was dripping off of both of us, but she wouldn't stop. I finally said it was time to call it a night. It was hot, she worked hard, I was proud. |
