What I find absolutely rediculous is why I occasionally get sucked into internet debates that I really don't give a crap about in the first place.  It NEVER turns into a rational discussion about the topic, but only back and forth over the last thing posted.  By the end, you are angry and fighting over things that the thread didn't even mention.  Most of the time you get mad what what we think/interpret the intent of the last post was rather than the subject matter.  It is absolutely stupid and unproductive and only adds negativity to your life...

And trust me, after last year, I MUCH prefer to keep postive people and energy around me.  Seriously considering getting off this internet roller coaster.

Yeah, that is seriously good advice. It's difficult to execute but absolutely correct.

whenever i post something in a more...volatile...thread, i rethink, reword, delete, and come back to my post several times before i hit submit.  (maybe this is why my posts come off as intelligent, they are well-edited)  i try to voice my opinion, acknowledge the other side, and back out.  and when threads derail, i only read and don't post, unless it IS something i care about.

point being....either take tj's advice and don't let it bother you, or take mine and just....don't post!  haha the internet is too full of people far too anxious to you (generic, not specifically you, kido) off!

It's not that I take it personally.  I seriously put little value on what anyone says on the internet except from those that have proven to me I can trust.

I get angry at the waste of time.  I see conversations leap frog from one statement to another (and get sucked into it), bringing up the past, or making absurd stretches/analogies/conslusion.  The downward spiral is SO obvious (to me).  It happens all the time.

There was an anti gun guy vs. a NRA guy on TV the other night.  The anti gun guy says "if the NRA had their wish, everyone would be allowed to own nuclear bombs".  How ABSURD is that?  The NRA guy starts arguing that statement so they start argueing about nuclear bombs and if the NRA wants us to have them or not INSTEAD of the presented topic!

So I get mad that I waste my time.  I get mad at MYSELF, not the unkown internet masses.
