<tuwood opinion>

Obama certainly did a lot better, but he still fell pretty short.

Most certainly didn't deliver any knock out punches that would erase his losses.

What was new about that though?  Think about the most emotional exchange...Romney clearly making a mistake on Libya.  Romney only bolstered Obama's strength as commander in chief.

Even George Will agreed Libya was a tactical victory for the president...and the "self-deportation" Romney talking point is a terrible use of words by Romney.

Agree that Romney weak moment came with Libya. Surprised me as I thought this is a topic that Obama should be hammered on. Overall I think both did what they needed to do to maintain support of their respective parties. I think Romney's remarks on the Obama economy should move some undecided voters. The moderator did not do Romney any favors.

Interesting to note when Biden interrupted Ryan, he was rude...but when Romney did it,.....crickets chirping on the Right.

I did find it very interesting, Romney was very eager to interrupt when it came to questions on the economy...social issues, not so much.

The Libya issue was a huge negative for Mitt.

OMG, i just spit all over my keyboard.

"the reason gas was 1.89 a gallon 4 years ago was because the economy was collapsing"  - Obama

The sad part about that statement is that 50 percent of this country probably agree with him!

OK, I'll bite.  I thought the price of gas did drop with the markets in the fall of 2008.  And what was driving the price was a combination of demand (which was decreasing, or expected to) and speculation of where the economy was going (in the tank)

You're actually correct.  I think I was more reflecting on the way the president said it.  It sounded really weird.

Gas was up around $3 or $4 a gallon the summer of 2008 and crashed as the economy fell.  I've actually been shocked that team O hasn't done a better job of deflecting that argument.

I will somewhat agree as I know supply and demand effect the price of everything. However, not so sure I buy that in 2008 that the price was 50% of what it is now. Especially when the price of oil was at an all time high in 2008. Also, I think Obama illuted to the fact that we are producing more oil/fuel than we were in 2008...yet I don't see that demand has really increased. In fact, seems recently I read somewhere that consumption has been decreasing. Anyway, I have to agree with tuwood...it struck me in a funny way when Mr Obama made that statement.

I loved that Biden interrupted Ryan, it's what won the debate for Ryan.

The part that gets my panties in a wad is the moderator's jumping in.  Ryan had 2v1 and Romney had 2v1.

I agree Romney wiffed on Libya.

Personally I found most of the debate mind numbing. Very uneven on when she felt like interjecting herself. Not really saying she was biased... just inconsistent and had no control from the start.

To me it was a draw... and for Obama supporters to just burst out in joy that he just sleighed the dragon only shows how completely he was destroyed in the first debate.

At least the Democrats I know were willing to admit their loss in the 1st debate.

btw, Crowley clearly had more control over this debate than Lehrer did in his.

That's the point, when Chris Mathews says he got pounded.. "a loss" is an understatement. There was nothing else to call it unless you like arguing the sky is not blue.

Tonight...it's a draw. Both sides will have plenty of reasons for declaring victory... that is a draw. It is not a pounding like last week. There is no "clear" winner.... no matter how much Obama supporters want one. Both sides won points.

Nothing but talking points and jabs....

Obama and Romneys tax rate....YOU HAD 4 YEARS TO FIX THAT!

Obama... we have enough pipeline to go around the world... WTF is that supposed to mean?

And coal is up... WTF!!! he most certainly is trying to put it out of business... I'm in it. That wind power plant in Colorado he mentioned... ya, they laid off 2/3 of their work force because the credits ended and nobody is putting in orders. I have friends that work there and they have no idea how much longer.

Romney just makes me mad he is a right wing conservative bill board when that actually isn't what he is. Yes he is conservative, but not the panderer he is to the base like he has been in the campaign. In fact he was against abortion all along, he just said he would "fight for a woman's right to choose" as Governor... and that is what he did... he didn't try to do anything against it. Sad though this is what one has to do to get the (R) nomination..... but ya... Romney wants to take away women access to health care. Undecided

I think the women's issue is pretty different and pretty clear. One will help you pay for your birth control pills and pay for your abortions the other one will create jobs so that women can have their own money to spend on whatever they want.

Wonderful...so, to take that point to its logical conclusion, those at the bottom of the socio-economic scale will be the most likely to have children they can not afford to raise themselves.  Great!  Sounds like a real money-saver.

Why do you hate women?

The problem with the opposite ends of the political spectrum is that they think their idea is the ONLY solution. You seem to be saying that a woman that can't afford to have children.... is only left with the one option of getting pregnant and then aborting that. there are actual much cheaper ways to handle that problem... heck there are actually free ways to handle that problem and ones that needs no permission or support from anyone else.

So those women at the bottom end....the ones most likely to have children they can't afford...they are going to be responsible enough to take birth control, paid for or not?  Got it.  As someone who has spent a great deal of time around those women.....I can say without a shadow of doubt...access to birth control will do NOTHING to change the number of kids they have....forget about it.  That's just one of those "feel good" points.....it's not valid...in fact, it's ridiculous.
