Thanks I didn't eat or drink a ton so I didn't get sick - although if I had gone to town I think I might have blown chunks. My biggest problem - heacy legs and never being able to catch my breath. I finally had to down grade to 1 minute running and 1 minute walking just to get through it. Still - it was rough!

1)I have races in Jan and Feb Scheduled right now. As for the triathlon I am waiting to see if we are getting laid off/relocated/remain working. The plant that my wife and I work at is in the process of being idled and no one knows what is happening to all of the management personnel. I have two different ones that I am looking at that are roughly the same time frame (July) that I am planning towards....it just depends on if we are in MO or IN. It would be great if I can be down here and do the on around STL....there are multiple shops and groups that do training programs...I haven't started researching around NW IN.

2) I am on MFP.....and I'll challenge myself to logging as well to keep both of us on track.....my id is kjvander1037

3) That is a great idea about the chain....I'll have to start putting some planning into it....did you just have people email/message you and then you put it together...or did you have them send you them already put together....or have someone else put it together?

Last year work really put a damper on our moods with the up and down of idling/lay offs/etc. I'm not going to let that get in the way of the personal life this year.....time to start focusing on working to live rather than living to work.

Kyle -

I sent you a request on MFP - I'm Qua17

The chain - I sent out emails and PMed my friends on facebook asking for notes or inspirational quotes. Then I asked them to send the notes to my wife who put the notes together. That way - the notes were a surprise to me.

Work - what do you do? Also - I'm guessing it might have something to do with your profile pic. If not, it looks like your seriously into Scuba!

Let me know how I can help you!

DQ

I am a manager with US Steel. I wish that it had to do with diving....scuba is kind of the reason I got into this whole thing. I needed something to do to lose weight and keep in shape for the level of diving that I do....and I guess I just went a little overboard...lol.

Tomorrow starts the logging on MFP....and after a day off of going to Urgent Care with the wife and then taking care of all the Christmas stuff in the house.....I'm hoping that tomorrow is as nice of a day as today was and after church will be a run outside....as nice as watching football while running has been, I am missing running outside.

Kyle, I hope all is well with your wife! Urgent care is rarely good...

Well I was good and walked the dog today and yesterday and hopped on the trainer for 30 minutes - so I'm 1/28 on the s/b/r and 2 for "doing something"... Haha. We also moved all of the furniture out of our bedroom in preparation for some construction over the next 2 weeks - renovating a bathroom and our bedroom (believe me it's about time). Time to get back in the air this week and my teaching semester kicks in on the 18th. I won't have my bedroom back until probably the 19th or so. But it will be good to have everything done though. Can't wait!

DQ do you want feedback, or just someone to look at pictures? I'm in if I can help.

I'm up for a 2 pound goal for Jan (I should check the scales before I commit- we don't have one in the mountains so I'm not sure what two weeks of skiing has done to my weight.)

Today I couldn't get in the groove, but hit 40 minutes of cross country skiing (lots of messing with my left boot to avoid a blister). I'll call it a workout! 1/24.

Dave - I'm in for helping as well, feel free to text, email or whatever. I am terrible at MFP but I can try really hard to help out that way also.

Got up at 3 am and got a bike in. It was a little shorter than I would have liked but it took me a little while to get my pain cave ready. I am not sure this being out of the house by 430 to get to work on time thing is so great. But I got back in the saddle. Literally the first time since IM, I had to take my race wheels off and put my trainer wheel on last night and my race number is still on the bike. I woke up with a splitting head ache and almost talked myself out of it, but the challenge made me get out of bed. THANKS THOR for the challenge!

It's Sunday, which is the day when we give some thought to our goals from the past week and make new ones for the week ahead. (Weeks start on Monday.)

All you have to do is hit the quote button to the goal post and add yours with your initials. Putting it on one sheet will make it easier for everyone to keep track.

A couple of suggestions:

1) Pick out a beer to enjoy if you accomplish your goal this week. My goal is to drop 2 lbs and my reward is a tasty two hearted ale. I have a case of the in the fridge - but I will wait to drink one until next Sunday WHEN I accomplish my goal.

2) Choose two or three goals to focus on. These goals should move you towards your goal for the month and goal for the year.

3) Be specific. Instead of saying I want to lose weight, write I'm going to lose 2 LBS

4) Make it challenging but achievable. IMHO it's better to start with something small and achieve it than to go big and fall short.

How you can help others to achieve their goals

1) Reply to posts in the forum. Nothing is better than getting a ataboy (or girl) for something you have worked hard to achieve.

2) Go to their logs and like the tough workouts they have done. I'll leave it to Thor to explain Likes.

3) KINDLY bug people about their progress or lack there of. Example: Hey Dave - I know you made it your goal to lose 2 lbs this week, how's it going. How can I help?

I will take you up on Thor's and your kind offers to help. DM your cell phone if that works. If not, we can always do facebook.

Great to see all the new and old faces in the group.

Did a run and a bike the first 2 days so I am at 4 on the s/b/r/workout challenge!

Like Dave, I have gained after a 2 month hiatus from doing consistent training. My run sucks(more than usual) as does my bike.

Going on a long weekend to Phoenix Feb. 4-8 with 2 other couples. Need to lose 2lbs a week so I am with you on this challenge Dave! Shooting for a 10lb loss!

Oh yeah and my punishment for lack of training/weight gain is no alcohol for 13 days...Jan 2-15. Sure could have used a beer last night...

My guess is Dave Q, our amazing mentor would say yes!! He posted a "get to know you" thing to fill out on the first page (2nd post maybe?). Copy and paste it and tell us a bit about yourself. Also, please put your name at the bottom so we know/can respond appropriately to who you are! That would be great.
Welcome!

I almost did squat today....hahaha, but the day is not yet over, I can still get PT in.
Today was gut the bathroom down to studs and move more junk out of the master bedroom. Ack! I did not get the trainer ride in I expected....but!!! my sis-in-law in Utah is getting up at 4:30 am her time to ride for an hour so I thought I'd get up at 6:00 (east coast time) and be on the bike until 7:00 so our times overlap! Waalaa! training partner! LOL
Guys come tomorrow to start renovating - they'll be here by 8:00 and I'll be up to my eyeballs in primer and beadboard... My early mornings will be key to get workouts in - thankful that hubby is making an effort to be around (not traveling) during construction over the next 2 weeks. That is very helpful.
Sis-in-law is going to re-do her training plan for IMMT (though neither of us has signed up for it yet....) and email it to me. Neither one of us has done much and her original plan had us starting 6 weeks ago so we are a bit behind... I had a nice long chat with her today (she's also a PT) about training - I need to step it up, she's hardcore. My 8 years senior to her is no excuse. LOL

Fire it up, people! Git 'er done!!

She's doing better today....a few prescriptions and some couch/tv time and still tired and down but better....the urgent care that we go to is roughly a extended hours dr office. so it isn't too bad....i've seen a lot worse. heck I've been in ER's that are a lot worse.

Absolutely - in the spirit of full disclosure - we do have a UT fan in the group. If you can stomach that - you are in! Be sure to fill in a bio sheet which you will find on the first page. Looking forward to getting to know you.

I didn't start seriously training for IMMT until mid-jan so you will do just fine. However - if you blow off PT - there is a CLP in your future. Come on woman - make it happen!!!
