MotoQueen 13195 | Subject: RE: November "Your Choice" Challenge Team 6 wemoon - 2007-10-31 3:39 PM So what a chatty thread.. yikes! Just an FYI, I do not have nearly as many chances to come online here as everyone else seems to. Usually in the morning and sometimes in the evening depending on how much homework I have or if my GF is over. I will really try to keep up, but please don't throw me out if I am missing for a day! We would never throw anyone out. Now you might get some smack talk, but all in fun! |

Guess it's time I should join all the work slackers and place my introduction... I'm a newbie (as y'all probably figured out - by my goal)... Never completed a tri before (legrand got me interested)... Hoping to do my first next year. Used to be in shape, trying to get there again. Never really been a runner (the asthma thing kind of sucks), and don't quite know how to swim (grew-up ON water not IN... alligators bite you know)... AND I'm more of a mountain biker than road Lots to overcome I'm also new to this whole forum posting stuff (but am loving the training log)
Welcome! You do have a lot of new stuff going on there. Do you have a road bike yet? I'm totally new to swimming (well, in my adult life anyways) so I have that challenge to overcome.
Nope, no road bike. Thought that for a while I'd just put some skinny tires on my mtn bike. It's still light enough that I don't think it should bother me. I'm sure it'll slow me down some, but I'm sure I'll be in the back of the pack anyhow. |

Ive got road tires on my mountain bike - thats sounds like a great plan! Especially until you get 100% hooked by the tri bug... Im guessing on this team its going to take all of about 24 hours Most of cycling is about the engine (you!) so riding a heavier bike will make you stronger!!! And.. WELCOME TO BT |

Extreme Veteran 429 | Subject: RE: November "Your Choice" Challenge Team 6 Hi, I'm on your team now! This is my introduction. I know Beth, and that's why I wanted to be on the team. I don't know anyone else, but hi! My long-term goals are to run a marathon in May (first one ever!) and to complete an Olympic-distance tri in 2008. Which means I'll have to learn to swim more than 1000 meters without drowning or swallowing half of the lake, and I'll have to learn to actually put my face IN the nasty dirty water. Yum. One of my additional goals is to beat my husband in a race. Hopefully I will beat him in the marathon, which is most of the reason I am working on my running so much this winter. Sneaky me! My November goals are 60 miles running, 3000 yards swimming (I know, kind of pathetic), and trying my trainer once (it has been collecting dust for about a month now). Good luck everyone! |

Brynn Welcome, welcome! No such thing as a pathetic goal in this team! All goals are awesome, because they are a challenge for the individual. I love the sneak attack - You Go Girl! I can totally see that happening! footnote: Brynn was one of my very first BT friends. She and AliClimb were kind enough to help me out and be a team for the Black Squirrel Tri here in the Omaha area. I have been dealing with PF and they jumped in so I could do one last event. We were the B-A-Bes, Three Decades of Divas! Brynn ran, Allison biked and yours truly Swam (did I mention I love to swim? LOL) You should have seen the look on my kids' faces when I told them I was going to meet up with my friends I met on the Internet - Priceless! |

After all, we ARE a team, right?... As for the avatar - hey, I can change mine tomorrow! Woohoo! Any suggestions? I haven't had time to think about what to put up. (I've been a tad busy setting up this challenge. We have 83 people so far.) LastCall2003 (Beth) - A secret inventory for setting up this team? If this month goes well, then yes. If it doesn't, then no. (To be honest, I was looking to create a chatty team. Did I achieve that objective? LOL) Re the name: They Who Should Not Be Named -- well, be careful. By the end of the month, everyone else may be calling us, They Who Would Not Be Quiet. OK, I'm at the bottom of page 1. LOL |
