ACGRAY22 - 2008-01-03 7:27 PM Uh oh, apparently California is about to get blasted by a record setting storm. There are flash flood adviseries in all the burn areas from the fires this past fall (which is very close to me). This won't be good for my T.I.T.S. I am scheduled for a 3 hour ride this weekend and now I am a bit concerned, I don't know if I can do 3 hours on a bike trainer!!! I'm crossing my fingers and hoping San Diego can work it's awesome weather mojo and find a way to bypass any kind of significant rainfall the way it usually does.
Wow, sorry about the storms.  Stay safe!

Yes, you CAN do 3 hours on the trainer.  You just need some good motivational programming to get you through.  Ironman races, Tour de France, riveting movie.  Sometimes you just have to get creative and find something that will hold your attention for an extended period.  Hope you can get outside, but if not, you can still get it done!

Unfortunately relying on TV is not a great option for me. I (and by I, I mean my roommate) have an awesome big screen TV. The problem is, I don't have a DVD player or a VCR or anything like that, and even worse than that, we don't have a remote control either (the dog ate it). We do have cable but honestly having 1000 channels is not such a great thing when the only way to change channels is manually 1 at a time. I can always hope something good happens to be on, but I am definitely better off praying for good weather!

Or praying for a "Jerry Springer Marathon" on the TV...that will eat up some time, you won't have to change channels, and you can yell at all the fat bimbos as they get into their hair-pulling fights.

OK gang, I've updated the spreadsheet with all the times from everyone's logs so far.  I basically only filled in the blank spots from those that had not put anything in the spreadsheet, mainly that was TriAya, tnickerson, yoganerd, ACGRAY22, and c_cic

All the other T.I.T.S.-sters seemed to have been entering the data into the Google-sheet OK, so I'm just catching things up and all the data is complete as of the time of this post.  I'll try and keep track of things over the course of the month and double check all our figures so that we credit ourselves with the hours/minutes that we deserve.  If anyone sees any errors or discrepancies, please feel free to mention them or correct them!

The Google Spread Sheet is here:

http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=puhAA5NRKHA3GjPCv92GJFQ&hl=en&pli=1

(I hope that link works correctly for you)

Remember, you can't possibly get too much T.I.T.S.  !!!!!!!

I'm updated, a BIG FAT ZERO so far!  Oh, I added a Team percentage to the spreadsheet.  We're at 7.5% as a team for 12.9% into the month.  I'll be riding once the weather breaks.  I am going for a run shortly though for a different flavor of T.I.T.S., Time In The Shoes!  (That's my next challenge team!!!)

I'm going to be selling the motorcycle soon and will get a lightweight FS MTB, hopefully soon because my 37lb Trek 4500 is a POS and I'm not putting any more $ into it.

Woo-hoo, my T.I.T.S. prayers have been answered for this weekend. Well sort of. Looks like it's still going to dump rain, but, because this is the bike portion of the USTA club competition (I picked bike challenge this month to line up with it) one of the local training centers here offered free entry for the weekend to use their indoor ErgViedeo Cycling Center because we won't be able to train outside. I signed up for a 3 hour slot, should be fun because there will be a bunch of other club members there and they have set up in front of a giant screen where they project bike races and such and the workout mimics what's going on in the video.

I'm gettin some T.I.T.S. this weekend!

Hi Team,

I'm late & new to the whole challenge thing... but I'm yours!  I'm a runner who started triathlons last year and this year I've committed myself to becoming a biker (more than just a runner who cross trains).  AND in March I'll be buying a new bike (so I don't have to ride my dorky hybrid anymore!).  I'm going to round up my goals to an even 9hours this month... which still looks pretty weak compared to most of you... but there it is.  What do I do.. spreadsheet??

I'm doing all my biking on a stationary bike at the local Y because I don't have a trainer and I live in Michigan.  Also, my tri team coach has recommended i split my bike workouts between the stationary bike and the stairmaster, but I'm counting it all as biking time... does that work all right for the challenge??

cheers!

I just got done with a half mary.  A totally freaking awesome half mary put on by my very on city I might add.  I'm going to get some beers, drink them, then go to bed.  Can't wait for my T.I.T.S. tomorrow!

Hi Sushigirl,

Here's the information about your team's spreadsheet:

1) Go to:
http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=puhAA5NRKHA3GjPCv92GJFQ&hl=e...

2) You will need to enter this info:
email address: [email protected]
password: challengeforum

3) The ONLY column that you will need to update is "Total Completed to Date."
This is the total amount that you have completed as of the reporting date.

3) You can update the spreadsheet as often as you'd like. However....

Your cumulative amounts must be entered in this spreadsheet by Sunday evening, your time on the following days:
- Jan 6
- Jan 13
- Jan 20
- Jan 27
- Jan 31

4) If you have trouble using this spreadsheet, please let your Team Captain know. He/she will be able to help you, or will enter the data for you.

If you have any questions, just let me know!

Welcome to the January Challenge!

Welcome, sushigirl! We may seem silly, but you are definitely on the BEST team . Good to build up lots of T.I.T.S. (ummm ... I hope you have figured out what that means, Time In The Saddle!) if you're coming in as a runner to tri (that's what I did. Huge swimming and running base, no cycling). And nine hours is fine!

Generally on challenges it's okay to sub activities if you state from the outset that's your intent (which you did).
