daviddclough - 2010-09-05 8:18 PM Does anyone know if I can check someone else's bike in for them?  My friend can get to the registration on Thurs., but cannot do the bike checkin on Saturday.

Are you going to have a wrist band (ie, you're doing the race yourself).  If so I say yes.  If not.. a bit more tricky but I bet a volunteer would take it in.

Yup, I will have my own wristband.  I am probably thinking about this too much.

I suffer from Anheiser's Disease and my memory isn't sharp enough to remember procedure at IM WI each of the last 4 years, but last week when I checked my bike in at IM Canada they matched my wrist band number to my bike number (I'm not talking about checking numbers when leaving T2 after the race)...WI may do the same thing at check in (?) so it may not be as simple as just having a racer's wristband.

Leaving tomorrow to pick up my brother in Greenville, SC.  Then Wednesday we start our trek North. It's a long drive but it will be twice as long on the way backWink  Very excited, ready to go.  Had a really fast (for me - 7:30 pace) 10k run yesterday as the temperature finally dipped here in Atlanta.  It is amazing how you can take a minute per mile off your pace in cooler temperatures and not feel any more winded.

Travel safe everyone, see ya soon!!! Forecast is still looking pretty good so keep your fingers crossed.

I have been laying things out in my family room.   I have white plastic bags labeled which I will dump into the official bags when I get them.  I may be missing something, but it just does not seem to be all that much.  The usual tri stuff that I take to all tris, with some extra Infinit, a long sleeve for Run SN, but that's about it.  I have some minor first aid stuff in each bag, but that doesn't take up much space.  My T1 bag will have the most stuff in it which some will be consumed, some left on the bike when I get back and some on my body til I finish.  Upon return from the bike I should have to toss my helmet, gloves and that's about it in my T2 bag, grab my shoes out of T2, visor, hit the road!

In a way since I have a T1 and a T2 bag, I won't have as much laying around in one location as I would if I was doing a regular triathlon where everything is setup under my bike!

I will probably toss some rain gear in one of the bags depending on the forecast on Saturday.

My son suggested buying a cheap pair of sunglasses for the early part of the run, then tossing them when it got dark instead of wearing my good ones and then having to carry them somehow when it got dark.  Any thoughts?

Am I missing something?

Please read about "equipment abandonment".  Tossing something on the course, if caught, will slap a time fine or cost a DQ.  And, giving equipment or receiving assistance to/from a family member/friend on the course is "outside assistance" and could result the same.  Be careful.

Last year's spectator information stated "Verona Loop".  I'm thinking that it would be near the school area where the timing mat is placed and spectator viewing stands are, but, if someone that has ridden the shuttle could chime in and correct me it would be appreciated (I've never rode the shuttle).

I'm planning on dumping my sunglasses at some point.  I prefer running with glasses even at dusk, but the only glasses I have are $5 Walmart ones so it's not an effort or extra expense to go buy a new pair.

As I mentioned 2 posts above, please read your athlete information guide regarding littering and outside assistance.

I guess I wasn't clear when I said I'd be dumping my glasses.  I meant in a garbage can at an aid station.  I thought that went without saying as I wouldn't just drop them on the ground!

Hello all,

I just had a failure of my wetsuit and the local shops in the Twincities are out of rentals for this weekend.  Does anyone know if there are companies at the site or in Madison that rent for the weekend?  I looked online but came up empty.

Thanks in advance.

Failure as in, you need a new one?  If you can't find a place to rent, there will be plenty of vendors to buy a new one from.  I did that at IMFL, day before the race.  Good price; it's worked out really well for me.

Yeah yeah yeah I know, nothing new. :-)  I did do a swim a little the night before the race in my new wetsuit.

It sounds like the water is warm enough that you could even go suit-less if you feel like it.  Yes you will be slower but it's not the end of the world.  Besides you'll look hard core and Mike Reilly may even point you out.

If you're less than 5 feet tall and 100lbs, I have an extra Blue Seventy Helix you can use!  If not,  I wou;d call either asap, the last time a friend went to rent one, they were all out.

Wishing everyone the best of luck and LOTS of fun out there at IMWI!!! See ya on the course!!
Travel safe and remember that training is the "hardest" part. Race day is all about being mentally strong and putting your plan to the test. Everyone will do great! don't forget to smile!

This is funny!  Well put response though it doesn't really matter to me whether it the Vikings, or Packers.  I really don't follow hockey too much. Smile
