Hey everyone... talk to me about pedals. My new shoes should be here this week, and hopefully my dog does not eat them before I get home. Are speedplays worth the $$?

Speaking of my dog, she is 2 today. AND her leg was NOT broken the other week, she did however have a dislocation, which is probably what I mistook as the break.

My sister in law called last evening and told me she would pay the vet bill. She was in tears, and I told her she wasn't paying the bill, it was an accident, accidents happen. I really felt bad for her, she was really upset about the whole thing. I was upset by the way my husband handled it, not that it happened. Anway, it's over, and she's back to running around like the maniac that she is.

Now... pedals... what do you think?

Can hunt.  You can fish in both but hunting is not allowed in National Parks.

I will have Ann(e) send you a T-Shirt anyways for a good attempt!  Please provide her with alcohol induced wine and your address

I used SPD myself.  My old road bike had looks but I like being able to walk without killing myself so I stick (makes a little more sense than still) with SPD type shoes.  But that is just me!

My shoes will take SPD or Speedplay cleats. I will probably go with SPD's but I was just curious about the Speedplay's.

Speedplays, like a lot of things, are really just a matter of preference.  I made the switch to them last season from SPDs and liked them a lot more.  The extra float took a little getting used to but I like it now.  Plus I think they are easier to get in and out of.

I still use SPDs on my roadie and can live with them.  If you have extra money lying around, give them a shot.  If not, you'll do just fine with SPDs

ceilidh - 2010-01-26 11:27 AM Morning, or soon to bee noon, Ghoulies.
I have been low energy and kinda down and now know why. A stoopid cold. At least there is a reason.
Let me see.... first

WAY TO GO TOM on your race. With all you have going on... fantastic!!! You make the Village proud.

Anne, get the photo. Thank you for the t-shirts but that is a lot. I'll be happy to send $ or wine or whatever.
Thank you all for your kind offers of races and words of encouragement. I am going to get over this phobia. It is indeed all in my head. The Feb Challenge will help for the self esteem part.

Melindy- you are tiring me out with all your training and partying and classes. Send me some of your energy.
Bill, I am still awaiting more photos and I am also ticked that you lost 5 pounds by being sick and I am up 1 today being sick. UNFAIR!!!!

Stacie. it is good to hear from both of you. Stacie, you amaze me with your positive attitude during all of your life changes.

Neal, did you swim for me this weekend? I feel sorta waterlogged.

Katie, Dee, Ann, Jules. Wazhapppening?

Robin,

If you have some time I posted some more pictures of the trip on my blog:

http://enduranceeventtraining.blogspot.com/2010/01/traveling-lately.html

You are all welcome to look.  Someday I will find a quick way to make them into an album.

Any ideas anyone????
Depends on what you mean byalbum. Album, as in a vurtual album on BT, or as in an album like a book that you hold in your hands and flip through the pages?

I LOVE my speedplays. I have the light action version. I highly recommend them. Not that I've ever had anything else. I don't have to worry about top vs bottom of the pedal, no rocks stick in them, mud/dirt comes off easily, cleats aren't too bad to walk in, it's great. We've been looking for a used bike for my hubby lately, and all of the bikes with speedplay pedals clearly state in the ad "speedplay pedals not included", whereas the other types, well, they're usually included.

Amy - my primary plan Friday was mountain biking in St. George area.  But I called up there and they said the trails would be all mud with the rain/snow they had received.  Oh well some other time.
Yes, that was in the middle of the last (series of) storms. I had a couple friends down there to do some early IM St George training, and they said it was crazy. Biking in snow in St George. Geesh!

Hey Bill, any thoughts on what/where to get my hubby an inexpensive roadbike so I can lure him into triathlons? He's 5-9, probably a 54-ish bike size? Currently he has an old cannondale mtn bke--an 800, I believe. Of course he's droolingover all the carbon fiber frames and whatnot--but he's just gonna have to get out there with me on a cheap(er) bike before I let him spend that much money on a bike. (i however, can spend whatever I want... )
