Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() 195.8 this morning. Up a couple pounds thanks to eating like an a-hole yesterday. goal for this week is to focus on spending time with my girlfriend and still get all the workouts my coach has listed done. Brent, that sort of stinks. I am in the same situation as far as the road goes, but there's no parking lane. When it's crappy out and there is another car coming from behind, I just step out of the road for a second, let the car coming at me go by. If there is only the one car coming at me, they almost always move over. If they don't I stick my arm out into the lane. That always moves them over. And I always make it a point to wave and mouth "thank you" as they go by. Hopefully that will start the trend that athletic people who care about their health and mental well-being are a good thing. On another note....why is it that I don't see more people with that planet X bike? The thing race ready carbon with wheels and SRAM red for less than 3 grand! If I had known about that when I bought my P2 for 2800, I would have been all over it! http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.uk/i/q/CBPXEXREDLTD/exocet-sram-red-tubular-ltd-edition |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() SO not feeling the treadmill run coming up today. It's a beautiful day, and actually above 0 (1*C), so I'd love to run outside but I only have shorts with me. I will run with shorts when the temp os above 0 at all for a race, but I have to psych myself up a little between 0*- 4* ![]() |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Really wasn't feeling it today, but forced myself to get on the treadmill, planning to hold 7:30min/miles for 20min. Felt good once I got running and stayed on for 5k (23:23). Plenty left in the tank to go sub 21-22 next month, but working there slowly. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Weighed-in at 155. Didn't do a darn thing yesterday or today for formal training; I had a 5-mile fast trot at work two nights ago and ended up exhausted for two days. All soft sand, climbing fences, thick brush. The temperature around here has come up enough to be comfortable on the bike or running, and the wind is supposed to pick up also. If it isn't one thing, it's another. I'll probably go for a run tomorrow as long as the wind doesn't get much over 20mph. |

Training through the days that you feel like not doing it will make all the difference. (I say that like I'm super experienced or something....but I think it makes a difference for me). |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hope everyone had a great weekend and good start to the week. I was out a bit too late celebrating the win last night and got home around 4 this morning. A 6am wakeup call and I am just now getting home and its 10pm so todays recovery day has several meanings. Be back at it tomorrow! |

![]() Big breakthrough in the pool tonight. We did a 100 yd sprint in masters class after we were nice and warm and clocked a 1:18. A 4 second personal best...and a legit one at that as I was the first one off in my lane...so no draft benefit. I think the 1:22 I swam sometime last year, I wasn't the first one off...so there was a small draft benefit. |

This is what I have been doing, and in the grand scheme of things it is not that big of a deal. I guess I just don't understand what is so hard about moving over when the other lane is empty, but then again, everyday I find myself wondering why people do all sorts of things. |

Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Weighed in a 220 today. Nice to be back to a building week and actually get some outside training done. Goal for the week is to continue to stick to a better diet. Did better last week but still have a lot of room for improvement. The thought of going back to calorie counting seems to be helping me stay on track some. |

Weighed myself and I am down a couple pounds and only gained 1 over the weekend! ![]() ClydeNewb - 2011-01-28 3:24 PM Give me a review on that saddle when you put some miles on it. I'm gonna be in the market for a new saddle when the weather warms up and I was considering one of those. Regarding the ISM Race saddle. I'm probably going to be tweaking it a bit as far as the seat angle...but so far so good. There is a big difference between this and your standard saddle. It's mostly the obvious. The nose is noticable wider. So you can feel it rubbing the inside of your legs a bit. For me, it hasn't been a problem for me thus far. The gap in the middle of the nose does provide relief I was seeking in that area. No more burning sensation. It does put more weight on your sit bones. I could feel the difference immediately, but it wasn't uncomfortable persay. I read there is a 2-3 week period it takes to get used to it...but I'll take that "feeling" over the sensation I was getting under my boys with my other saddle. I'm not sure I would get this for my road bike though. When aero...it's 10x more comfortable...but sitting up on the horns...I can really fell my sit bones. I'm not sure how it would feel to ride on the horns/hoods on a saddle like this for 3+ hours. |

I'm not sure how it would feel to ride on the horns/hoods on a saddle like this for 3+ hours. That's what I was curious about as I only have a road bike. The thing looks like it would eliminate the numbness just on design alone but with the nose of the seat basically cut out, I was wondering if you would feel like you were sliding off the seat if not in aero. Nice work on the swimming too. I used to swim a 49 second 100 in highschool when shaved and tapered. I would probably struggle to go 1min to 1:05 now. It's awful to get old and out of shape. ![]() |

Member![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Finally got over that little bug enough to get back to the gym tonight. Had a decent "run". The lungs were a bit lit up after not running since last wed. and my major illness being a cough and lung issue. Legs will probably be jello tomorrow. I upped the pace on the treadmill tonight. Probably a dumb idea after a 6 day layoff with only a minor run base to begin with, but I guess I was trying to make up for lost time. Felt good to get out of the comfort zone a little though. |

![]() Had a good interval ride today. Had some problems with my computer during the warm up...but it read the intervals properly...so that's all that matters. I could rant for about 5 paragraphs...but lets just say that if you're in a group...and riding 12 mph on a 2 lane road (each way) poplular with cyclists, you should NOT be riding 3 wide taking up the entire right lane as cars pass on the left. Especially if you have no idea what to do when someone going 10 mph faster than you is yelling "ON YOUR LEFT" at the top of his lungs. Needless to say that interval was about 20 watts higher than it was supposed to be. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I was hoping there'd be only a light (<20mph) wind today, but it was reported as gusting up to 50mph, so my idea of a run went out the window. That actually ended up being for the best: three of the last four days I've either gone 5 miles at a fast trot through soft sand and brush, or had to climb a mountain with one of the 25-year-old employees I supervise. My quads are sore in a narrow band right where I get sore after sprint intervals. And I was so exhausted this morning that I couldn't have had a half-decent run anyway. Today was a much needed rest day. No training this last 7 days, but I ended up needing the rest anyway. I'm not complaining about any of it though. My knee finally feels pretty good. The temperature is going up, so I should be able to do a lot more over the upcoming weeks. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() So I had some extra energy last night so I did a 35 minute ride on my trainer--tuesday tend to be my off day so we will see how the rest of the week goes. Since my first tri is not untill May 15th and I have a 5K planned for April 2nd, I am building my base for 6-7 weeks then will do a short recovery (2-3 days) then I will start with som interval and higher intensity work outs. |

I'm not sure how it would feel to ride on the horns/hoods on a saddle like this for 3+ hours. Great points made here and I will just chime in with mine. I got the saddle for Xmas and have been toying around with it a lot since. However, I wil get a professional fit this spring with the saddle for final adjustment. There is a lot that goes into this saddle including the "fore-aft" position and so I would think that a professional would be able to seek out the best most comfortable position without compromising much of anything else while doing so. This saddle IMO is much better on a TT and I would not get one for my road bike. When I am aero it feels great and almost like I am not sitting on a saddle with zero discomfort, but when I sit up it's a bit different and I feel that I need to sit back more to get comfortable. I didn't have that 5-7 hour break in period most people say they need. It seemed by my second ride my bones and muscles were used to it (thanked me for it) and I was a much happier person. Yes it is wider, but the open middle on the nose provides a world of welcome enjoyment in that area for me. No saddle sore, no standing up readjusting my shorts, no moving around to find the right spot. I sit down, get aero and its feels like sitting on butter, nice, soft, and comfortable. I high recommend the ISM Race Saddle for a TT bike |
