chichitao - 2010-09-01 3:53 PM Did my first Ab Challenge after my run today.  Boy was it tough by the 3rd set.  Not sure if I was supposed to do this or not Sandra, but I took about a 1min break between each set.  Some of these involve some serious balance and coordination which I am not great at but hopefully after doing this a few times it will get easier and more natural.  We'll see how sore I am tomorrow!

The break is completely acceptable and this set is primarily focusing on the abs, but there is a lot of core engagement involved, so your balance should definately improve the more you do it.  I suspect you will feel that you have abdominal muscles tomorrow!

I'm hoping to get the abs done tomorrow morning (it looks awesome), when I will FINALLY get to go on a nice, long run and not worry about creepers or the dark.  We're going back to my parents' tonight for a wedding we're in this weekend, so 4 day weekend for us!  Hoping to get in 3 solid workouts.  Still looking for a treadmill, hoping we can find one soon that won't break the bank. MIL said no, apparently she's using hers again (even though it's in a closet)? Who knew...Foot in mouth

On another note... I.am.so.busy.  If I make it through this semester, it will be a miracle.  12-14 hour days, not including the additional reading and work I need to do for classes.  I've literally been getting home and passing out.  It's only been a week of school!

Hope everyone else is doing GREAT!  Happy Thursday!

Sorry it is so rough already!!  As I say about motherhood, I signed up for this!  Are all your semesters this crazy?

I am planning on the ab workout during naptime today!  I cannot do abs with Logan around.  He thinks it is time to make a mommy sandwich and then I have both boys laying on top of me.  Thanks for posting it Sandra!

So I just got an email from a blog that I follow saying that they are doing a Primal Diet Challenge from Sept. 7 - Oct. 6.  I think I may try this out (thought it'll be difficult with a few trips that I have planned during the month.  I may have to actually stop in t restaurants and eat not in my car...  We'll see.  Hopefully this will kick start my arse into gear with eating properly.

I got my ab core workout in tonight.  That 2nd to last one kicked my butt Yell(and this is really what I looked like).  I also went to LBS after work and got my whole hydration set up how I want for race.  I got the dual Profile Design Aqua seat post bracket and the Profile Design Aero Drink for the aero bars.  I also got my race tires.  My little Trek is starting to look like a real tri-bike-haha.  I am starting to get pumped up for race!

Good luck with that diet Pete!  What does it consist of?

I did my ab workout #1 on Wed and the later in the day it got on Thur the sorer I got.  Luckily I didn't have to sneeze, cough, or laugh too hard cuz it would've hurt!  Still fairly sore this morning, but getting better.

We got an awesome little rain/cool front come through last night and it is supposed to be cloudy/rainy and only up to 90 degrees today!  I am pretty excited as that means some really nice conditions for the little race tonight.  It's a relay of 4 people and we each run 2.5mi.  Should be fun with free dinner and beer afterward.

Glad to hear you getting that hydration on your bike Tim.  That should give you what, about 75-80oz avail on the bike?  Only about 2 weeks left to go!

A paleo diet is basically no processed foods.  If you can't pick it, kill it, or scavenge for it, and eat it unrefined, you don't eat it.  There are varying levels of intensity...  some people won't eat dairy with it, some people won't eat it if you have to cook it...  but I'm gonna start out simple.  It is NOT going to be easy.  I'm really crossing my fingers for it.  Especially since I'm going to a wedding next weekend...

Unfortunately, I didn't get my core workout in last night, as I had a friend come over.  If I get to my cottage early enough tonight, I will do it tonight.  If not, first thing in the am for sure.  I am looking forward to doing it.  I miss the feeling that you had yesterday, Tim!  I don't know why, but I love the feeling.

T2, that's exciting.  Do you have many times that you can practice using the hydration?

Not sure if you guys have heard but the East Coast has been dealing with Hurricane Earl.  We are at the shore and in a Tropical Storm Watch today.  The ocean is crazy rough!  I want to take a walk down but don't trust the boys that close to the water.  It is overcast today and windy.  It is just now starting to rain.  The hurricane is about 200 miles off the coast so the weather shouldn't be too bad.  I know the Carolinas got hit bad and Maine will most likely be hit bad.  And I just ran 11.55 miles in some crazy wind!  I don't know what I was thinking when I said sure when John told me to run today!  This was the longest run I have run to date!!

Megan: They've been covering it in the news here,  hopefully you won't be hit to hard. I love watching the ocean when it's that rough, but at a nice safe distance.  Hopefully the wind was at your back for a good part of that run.

T1: Glad to see the ab routine is doing it's job, the pain will become less the more you do it:-)

T2: Nice that you got your hydration set on the bike, it's really important.  I'm so excited for you.

Pete:  Good luck on that diet, I don't think I would be able to do it myself.

Erica:  Hopefully you will settle into your busy schedule and feel less overwhelmed.

Debbie: How were the results from your measurements?

So my life has pretty much been consumed with workouts and Ironman for the past few months.  Well today I woke up and talked about my workout schedule instead of wishing my wife a happy birthdayEmbarassed.  Not good.  I even was giving her a hard time about it last night so she knows i didn't completely forget but I just messed up this morning.  Have to make up for it this evening.

A great line I saw on here when you are at the race is "You are doing Ironman so you can finally stop thinking about Ironman"  It is so true.

If you get the bronze membership to BT, it will allow you to upload info from your garmin.

Hmmm...if you got 6 stitches in your hand, right hand at the base of your index finger, how long would you wait to run?  1 day?  2 days?  What do you think?

What did you do?   You ok?  I would at least give it one day, but it doesn't sound like it is in a spot that would open back up or could be damaged again by running.  Just wrap it up well to keep any sweat/dirt out of it, that would be my biggest concern.

Tim, did you ever get out of the doghouse with the wife?  Doh!

I'll admit that the ab routine hurt.  I did it last Wed and today is the first day where it wasn't painful to get up and move around.  I've got a run today and then will do Ab Challenge Day #2.  I decided to change how many of these I am going to do.  At first I was going to do 3x per week, but I instead changed that to doing 14 for the month.  That way is doesn't matter so much about each week and more about the total.  I think here in the beginning I need to space them out more but hopefully as I get better I can do them closer together and maybe on back to back days.

I had a good run/race on Fri.  Did the 2.44mi route in a 7:21 pace, which is outstanding for me.  Ended up getting a pretty nasty blister in between the big toe and the toe next to it on my right food.  I've been wrapping it up and did a 6mi run yesterday on it and didn't have too many issues.  And ever since my interval run last Wed I've been having some left knee pain.  It hasn't effected my runs yet, but I am a little concerned.  I am hoping it is my run shoes as they are over 430mi and need to be replaced.  Going to get a new pair this coming weekend.

Well, I am the lone soul in the office today.  Hope everyone has a good Monday and enjoy Labor Day if you celebrate it.

T1, although it doesn't necessarily look it, that ab routine is hitting the abs from all sides.  What I might suggest is that rather than lowering the amount of days you do it, you reduce the number of sets you do, so the next couple of times do only 1 set and when that has a better recovery, increase to 2 sets...etc.

Good job on your race, that is an excellent time Sorry about the blister and keep a close eye on that knee pain, that is one injury you don't need.  The Nimbus 12's are really nice.

Sorry to hear you are in the office, but at least it will be really quiet there for you.  I'm having a nice quiet day, with maybe a bike ride on the trainer and my ab set.  I had a full busy day yesteday and need a bit of a lazy day, but also need to work off that pumpkin pie with whip cream I had!

I was opening up a can of black beans to make some soup for the week.  Sliced my hand on the lid of the can.  Of course no one was around so John wrapped up my hand and sent me on my way to the ER by myself.  The two sets of neighbors that we are good friends with were not even home!  I almost called our babysitter to come over but I knew it was not that serious that John had to be with me at the ER!  Running is not going to bother it.  The doctor told me I could run today but I figured I would take the day off.  It is Monday and I have 6 more days this week to get my 4 runs in.  I cut my hand at 4:30 yesterday, stitches at 7:30, and would have run at 4:30 this morning.  I just figured 12 hours was not quite enough time.  I am afraid of pulling the stitches out because of where it is on my hand.  I can't straighten my index finger all the way without it hurting.  And of course it is my right hand!

Oh and I was hoping to do a sprint tri next weekend.  Not now!

Think I am doing good on the challenge, can definately tell that I've been doing it, since I am now generally conscious of the fact that I have abdominal muscles, due to the dull aching:D  I'll be doing my third set for the week tonight after running 9 freakin' hills...ugh!
