iowagander - 2010-06-15 12:28 PM I also just called and switched from the International distance for my race next week to the Sprint. I just have not been able to maintain any kind of consistency, especially with swimming and biking, and I want to be able to enjoy my first race. There will always be time to train longer and harder for bigger races later on.

Sorry Tom. I know you really wanted to do the International.

Keep on moving. Keep on training. There will be other races!

Thanks Ann, but it's the best for now. Like I said, I'd much rather go into a shorter distance at my first race knowing that I can do it. The good news is that this race will still be here next year, and so will I!

iowagander - 2010-06-15 12:25 PM Good day Ghoulies! It's going to be a short day at work for me today. A couple more hours of phone-jockeying and email-answering and then it's time for a quick softball game and then I'm outta here. It's my daughter's 8th birthday today so I have a little monkey to go spoil. We're going out to Red Lobster tonight (her choice) and to take some fun pictures in the new clothes we bought her.

What time are we meeting for dinner?

Should we call ahead and tell them they'll be making A LOT of margarita's tonight?

Happy birthday young Anderson!

We're planning on getting there at about 5:00. And tell them to make as many margaritas as YOU can drink! Daddy = sober cab, since my wife can't drive.

I'm there!  I love Red Lobster (and margaritas)!  I used to eat there like weekly with the last girl I dated.  I haven't been there much since and really miss it.

Happy Birthday to your little one, too!

Soooo...yesterday my friend asked me to send him a side profile picture of me...haha

So. the reason is: he and this other guy in my class are doing presentations for high school students in the area based on dietary and lifestyle health. Apparently apart of the presentation is profiles of people based on personal attributes (activity, etc) I was selected as a good silhouette because I am "a physical activity machine" haha. YAY! I'm a PAM...PAM=physical activity machine...haha...

Thanks Neal. And honestly, even with the shorter distance I'm not sure what to expect. I know my run will be slower than I'm used to, but I don't know by how much. I know getting on the bike after a rough swim will feel weird. I know that the swim itself will be a learning experience, to say the least.

I guess the big thing I'm going for is building experience so I can focus on speed later. If I do well then all the better, but my number 1 goal is to have fun and not look like a complete fool

Tom, the main reason we do these things is for fun.  Not to stress ourselves silly.  Enjoy the sprint.  Who knows what else might pop up this year.

That is good criteria to have. (cure you marriage license!)

We could still go to Red Lobster and drink margarita's and get biscuits, and maybe even some real food, too.

We used to go there a ton when we lived in Ames too. My son was always trying to sneak one too many biscuits!

LOVE THE BISCUITS!

Those biscuits are THE BEST.

Happy Birthday to Little A.  Neal, we have got to find you a new girlfriend.

PICK ME! PICK ME!!!

I would Ann, but unfortunately you fail the "not currently married" criteria I've established

That is good criteria to have. (cure you marriage license!)

We could still go to Red Lobster and drink margarita's and get biscuits, and maybe even some real food, too.

iowagander - 2010-06-15 12:25 PM Good day Ghoulies! It's going to be a short day at work for me today. A couple more hours of phone-jockeying and email-answering and then it's time for a quick softball game and then I'm outta here. I thought margarita's and biscuts ARE real food! There's a bunch of food groups right there: fruit, dairy, alcohol, fiber.
