Things are good here. I am going OWS tomorrow, to be followed by a bike ride. I still need to figure out a training plan for the summer. So far I've just been flying by the seat of my pants. It's been working, mostly because I have good friends who have needed a training buddy when I happen to be available. I'm not going to be anywhere near the middle of the pack (let alone the front of the pack) if I keep this up.

I am super excited (and nervous) to go do this OW training session tomorrow!

OK - so it doesn't look like it's broken (yay!) .. the swelling has really gone down and I can sort of wiggle my toes. But check out this bruise:

Does it hurt to bear weight on it?  You could have a non displaced fracture. It still looks really bad even if the swelling has gone down.  I still think you need an x-ray. Take it from an ER nurse.

Yes, I can weight bear ... it's actually looking worse than it's feeling - I've broken many bones before, and although last night I was certain today I'm thinking it's just a bad bruise. ;-)

And Bill - NO - I would never punish my dog by "hypothetically" killing him .. that whole thread/line of thought just made me ill. Seriously.

TR - That looks nasty! I'm glad you don't think it's broken. I have to second Cathy's opinion though, I'd still get an x-ray.

On another note, I'm a great-uncle again. My nephew's girlfriend went into premature labor yesterday and after some other issues came up they had to deliver the baby. Hellen Rebecca is only 2 lbs. 6 oz. and is in the NIC unit but appears to be doing as well as could be expected. My sister said she came out kicking and screaming. Yes, I believe in miracles!

Have a great day everybody!

I triple Cathy's opinion on the xray. Take that from an urgent care clinic nurse. (I think the clinicians have spoken!).

Art-how early was the baby? I have 2 nieces that were born at 2 pounds 2 ounces, and 2 pounds 11 ounces, respectively. They just turned 5 and are as normal as can be--still petite, but stronger than most 5 yr olds I know.  Miracles do happen every day.

Yikes indeed TR! I really hope you can scrape the money together for some medical treatment. Please take care of yourself! Poor thing, you are going through so much ....

Art, Congratulations! What a tiny soul and so much fight in her!

x2 and yes miracles do happen

ETA: BTW Good morning Manatees.  I cannot believe you guys are not picking on me about all my swim time I have been logging lately.  This is a summer record and it is all because of you (and the fact that I joined an outdoor community pool so I can do laps while the kids play )

Bill--you're still swimming more than I am!!!

Here's the update on me: I got a nasty tropical virus, chills, rash, joints swollen/achy, stomach problems, but I'm already feeling a bit better. This one at least passes quickly. The triathlon activities start tomorrow--it's nonstop fun from Friday morning through to Sunday evening, so I really want in on that!!!

I'm just going to take it really, really easy at the tri--keep it fun. I'm essentially untrained, so the pacing will be critical, especially in the heat. I once did a marathon on very little run training, same strategy, and it worked out fine. (Recovery was a lot longer though).

The day after the tri I'm having gum surgery, though .... ewwww! A wonderful dentist wrote me on BT and reassured me it was a perfectly good time to do it, though, just recover all at once.

She was 9 weeks early. I just spoke to her dad. She's doing great, breathing on her own, etc. They say she'll be in the hospital for 4-6 weeks. Her mom is going home from the hospital tomorrow.

Sharie - Good luck on your race! Remember to have fun!

Beth - I love your inspires too. They make me happy, warm and fuzzy inside.

The foot is NOT broken .. so everyone stop harping on me. ;-)
It's just bruised - and it's already feeling better. I've run out of batteries in my camera, but otherwise I'd show you the proof ... black is fading to an icky yellow very quickly. I had acupuncture yesterday, so I think that combined with the Chinese herbal plasters I've been wearing have really done the trick.
I'm barely even limping.

;-)

Yanti - Good luck on the race and the surgery. I hope both go well. Unlike some people (not naming names, you know who you are) I hate going to the dentist. I don't even want to think about gum surgery. Of couse, I am a wimp.
