ironannekidd - 2010-03-12 9:41 AM Bill - I checked out the link you had put in the bEASTies thread about the IronCross race. That has to be what we saw last year. Good luck. Lots of hills! I will most definitely try to find you sometime that weekend. You'll have to let me know when you're coming to town.

That would put me at 3 Ghoulie meetings this summer!!!!

WOOHOO!!!

The sad news is my family isn't going to NC for vacation this year. Sorry Robin.

I am going to have to make a trip out west!

It is Columbus Day weekend and I eat hills for breakfast hahahahaha - lol!

You could pre-ride some of the course for me so I know how to train.  I will be awaiting the report!

Since we drove some of the course last year I can tell you for certain that you will ride in the shade, and in a little bit of sun. And the downhills are much easier than the uphills! Glad I could help.

Perfect report - I appreciate that!  I think it will be a sufferfest but I am sure for some sick reason I will enjoy it

Are you gaming for a post race sympathy rub down?

No kidding, it really is hilly around there. Some are long drug out, others are short but super steep. It's a nice area though. I think they have festivities at Laurel Lake, we take the kids there swimming in the summer. We hike a lot up around there, too.

I was riding the other day and thought to myself I have the perfect chance to do a great hill interval workout - a long slow 2 mile climb then drop down on a shorter brutal steep hill.  Sounds like fun huh????

Honestly?

Yes, a little bit. I wish I were better at climbing hills.

I have friends that live 28 miles from my house and there are several killer hills between me and them. Sometime this spring I am riding my bike to their house just because I want to tackle the hills. I still need some more miles under my belt, but maybe sometime in April I will do it.

Judging from the events you want t enter, I am not sure I would trust your sense of fun!  Wink

BTW  Good morning, Ghoulies.

Yesterday morning it was really windy and rainy here.  I didn't do my 4 mile run until the wind settled down in the afternoon.  But that morning I was talking to a gal at the Y ... she and a friend had just finished running 24 miles in that mess!  She has done an IM in the past and is training for one in Idaho this year.   wow 24 miles for a training run!  I knew she was good, but I just didn't realize!

I've only run just over 25 miles this month. Now I'm a little depressed about that.

Better 25 than 0 Ann(e) - running is key to starting slow and building slower

There was a time, not too long ago that I never would have thought I'd run 13.1. Now I have that under my belt, and another coming up in May.

Could I do more, sure. And eventually I will. I am doing something more than nothing though, so I'll give myself points.

Afternoon Ghoulies.  Just catching up.  Been pretty busy here.  I had dinner with my old boss last night at my favorite local restaurant.  French/Thai.  Yummmmmm.  Was good to see him and catch up and the food was excellent.

Have to admit that work today has been really good.  I had a terrific morning and am hoping I can exit the work week with that same feeling.

Tomorrow is a local St Paddy's 5k.  The start is about 2 miles from my house.  The plan was to jog to the start, run the race medium/easy pace and jog/walk home.  Now the weather forecast is calling for cold/wind/rain.  Hmmmm.  May rethink those plans.

Thanks Ann.  I am toying with making tomorrow a super swim and hoping for a break in the weather on Sunday.  I don't really love 5k's.  The first 2 miles always suck for me, so only running 3 is more miserable that fun.  I actually enjoy 6-8 milers, when the knee cooperates.  That's why running to/from the start sounded like a good plan. I do the 5k's mostly to see friends and enjoy the *feeling* of a race.  If it's going to be yucky, may just skip it.

Can I apply that same philosophy to my taxes?  I was planning to do those this weekend as well and loathe that even more than 5k's.  Undecided

That depends on whether you owe money or will get a refund.

I am going to do ours this weekend, too. I'm thinkin' I should probably abstain from the wine until they're done... maybe.

Well, I almost certainly am going to owe $$$.  And I don't know why I grump and procrastinate.  All I'm really doing is organizing them to send to the accountant.  I just get into avoidance mode.  Maybe if I set milestones and allow for a glass of wine for each one achieved that will help.
