I rowed for 30 minutes last night .. and finally got over the 6000m mark while staying at a consistent 23spm .. 6086m to be exact, and when I saw it flip to 6000 before my time was up I said "YES" out loud loudly and everyone looked at me funny! Nice!!! Great job!!! I always have trouble holding a low stroke rate I tend to keep speeding up. I do like a good 24 spm for a longer workout but I just have to throw some intervals in the middle there to give my brain something to do. |

I do like a good 24 spm for a longer workout but I just have to throw some intervals in the middle there to give my brain something to do. It's hard to hold the lower stroke rate AND mentally just keep rowing, I have my music loud in my ears and give it my all, nice and quick on the pull but then find myself saying softly in my head "slooow" on my recovery. Tonight I do intervals .. 1 min hard 1 min rest .. for 30 minutes. That goes nice and fast and no time to really think how awful it is! Yep I have to do the same thing... Slooow on the recovery, ease up the slide, or just plain count 1, 2,3 on the recovery and 4 for the drive. Then again I have to do that in the boat when I am stroking as well or I have a tendency to keep increasing the stroke rate. Those intervals are just brutal, good luckl!!! |
