Anyone doing anything creative for someone this year? I was super bummed about my BFF's present because it ended up being three gift certificates. Yuck-o. I mean, she'll like the stuff (they are for very specific presents), but who wants to get three envelopes instead of fun toys? Then, while I was trying to go to sleep yesterday, I came up with the perfect presentation. I was so excited I couldn't go to sleep!

The first one is a Road ID. I'm going to get super colorful children's blocks that spell out the name, wrap them all individually, and stack them in a pyramid. She'll have to unwrap each one then arrange them to figure out what it is supposed to say.

Next is an as-soon-as-it-comes-out certificate for a parking pass for the White Mountains (they don't come out until mid-Jan). So that one, I'm going to make a little design and paste it on to cardstock, then cut it out in the shape of a puzzle and put it in a pretty envelope. I'm considering hiding the crucial peice somewhere on the tree, just to be extra evil.

Finally is a gift cert to stay in a hut. She has this book of crossword puzzles that have to do with the White Mountains, so I'm going to snag that, copy one, and circle the boxes to spell out the certificate. So, she'll have to solve the whole puzzle in order to figure out what the present is.

What do you guys think? I went from all bummed out and considering doing something else entirely to wicked excited in the span of about thirty seconds!

I love the ideas!  Specially since you know she wants them and will like it!  Always important.  I understand being bummed out about it though.  Sometimes it's fun to be able to see them unwrap a cool new unexpected new toy.

Speaking of which, I still haven't started shopping for Bryan.  Seriously, I think I need to see a doc.  I am usually so festive and on top of it this time of year.

I'd say no and stay up and chat with me, but I know how little sleep you've gotten. So sleep tight, sweet dreams, and pray for more SNOW!

Erica, maybe you should see a doctor.  Doesn't sound like you're sleeping very well and you've been blue.   I hope things start to turn around for ya.  Might just need a really good nights sleep, if thats possible.  Its amazing how no/little sleep can affect you so dramaticly.  What about something like tylanol PM or the like?  Would that help you sleep through the night?

It was interesting.  I'm meeting with the teach this afternoon to discuss what I observed on Monday.  Still trying to get reports from different people.  Just a waiting game right now.  Trying to be patient.  I'm not good at that!

Erica, have you tried Ambien? It sounds like your sleep cycle is now off and might need resetting. You start by taking it every day for a week until you get into a better sleep pattern, then just take it when needed. I've been taking it for 8 years for chronic insomnia. I probably end up taking it 1-2 times/week, sometimes not at all in a week. Anyone who reads my logs knows I don't sleep a whole lot, so I'm hardly one to give advice, but it does work. You sleep really soundly and there isn't any "sleep hangover" like you get with the OTC pills. But you have to sleep a minimum of 7 hours to get it out of your system.

Does anyone know when the 40% cut-off is for this challenge? If it's today, I'll be out I'm only at 37% due to a carpy Week 1 with work and all. I've been swimming just about every day to make up for it, but it may not have been enough.

Slugger - 2008-12-12 1:07 AM Argh, I missed you guys by about 20 minutes! Oh well, good for normal people to sleep. It finally turned to SNOW here, but the rain has me all down. I was trying to enjoy it and get back into the snow thing, and then I drove to work. Grrr - none of the roads were plowed. I love my little car and it does really well in the snow, but seriously, I should NOT have been driving in two-plus inches of snow (more in some cases - I was snowplowing with my undercarriage!). But, fun thing is, I finally get to snowshoe run tomorrow (today, whatever - FRIDAY!). Yay!

Snowshoe run....sounds interesting!  Not sure I'd be coordinated enough to do it!

We are all rain to the south of you.  I wonder where the snow/rain line is??

x2!!

Erica to bad you don't live closer, I'd say we each grab a bottle of vino and come on over we could drink vino in the hot tub and soak our worries and stresses away.   The combination of the two I'd think would help put you to sleep.

I like this idea    Very inventive and will take her more time to open/piece together the clues as to what her gifts are then just a gift wrapped card.    Will also be WAY more fun.
