ceilidh - 2011-02-24 7:10 AM Amy, I was wondering how the basement was coming along. Sounds like you are on the  road to recovery.

You should come to Lake Lure. It would be educationional!!!!! The kids will miss days because of snow or being sick. This is a WAY better reason to miss school!

Ann, I am starting my bike education now. What is a compact crank and why would it help on hills?

I haven't seen next year's school calendar yet, but most likely my kids will go to the first day of school, then miss the next 3 while we travel to NC. Most lessons in life aren't learned in the classroom. Bring the kids, they can play with my kids, while you play with me and Robin!

Robin. Compact Crank. The crankset is the part where your chainrings are and the part you peddle. A compact crank has less teeth, so the gearing is different. You know how a road bike has 3 chainrings, giving you a granny gear for climbing hills? A compact crank still only has 2 chainrings, but the number of teeth let you get closer to a granny gear making hill climbing easier. Did any bit of that make sense?

skrtrnr - 2011-02-24 7:12 AM MORNING GHOULIES!

MORNING ANN.

NIGHT NIGHT AMY!

well old man winter messed with my plan this week.

im heading to the Y later to get in a 2-fer.  a 30 min spin and 1100 swim.

i'll leave the 2nd run of the week for tomorrow.

then i can still get a 2nd swim in during my down shifts when i work in Aquatics on Saturday.

i went in for my 2nd interview yesturday.  excited about the opportunities there.  they are planning on making a formal offer next week sometime.  then need to discuss me w the higher up, but its pretty much a done deal.

then its just a matter of gradually extricating myself from agency #1 and integrating into agency #2....

THEN NO MORE TRANSITIONS FOR LIKE 100 YEARS THANK YOU VERY MUCH

im really looking forward to laying down some 'roots' and working somewhere long term.

ive had enough transition in my life in the past year to fill TWO lifetimes.

not that im complaining.  i realize in todays job market to have ONE job let alone several is AMAZING.  so i'll be sure to count my blessings while im working through.

stacie

WOOHOO!!! on the job part!

I've had enough of the PA weather, too!

i told my kids yesturday when theyre grown and gone im moving somewhere SUNNY AND WARM.

they can come an visit anytime they want.

I've told mine the same thing. I told my daughter if she wanted to go to college someplace warm I would move there a year or two early to set up residency so she could get in-state tuition. Wasn't that very kind of me?

Thanks, that does make sense. I wasn't aware that a tri bike didn't have as many gears as a road bike. A tri bike will just never ever make sense for me so I have never spent much time looking at them.

wgraves7582 - 2011-02-24 7:25 AM Morning Ghoulies.  Back in the office today.  Everything is all set for Zoey's celebration of life on Sunday evening.

We are supposed to get 6-10" of snow - hopefully we get 10" personally so I can keep snowbike riding!

When we had such beautiful weather last week my kids thought that winter was gone. I told them it was too early yet to stay warm. We had 6" of snow on Monday night and my son went sledding Tuesday afternoon. I hope you get your 10" of snow. We are supposed to get heavy rain and strong winds.

I am much more comfortable on my tri bike than I ever was on my road bike. My pain doc is the one who talked me into getting a tri bike. I had wanted one, but I had recently bought my road bike when I started going to the pain clinic. She's a runner and a cyclist, afraid of the water though. She explained to me how the geometry of the tri bike would take the pressure off of my spine. I bought a tri bike and I'm happy I did. I just miss having a few of the gears.

People are like that around here. I have daffodills booming and had the windows open.It is still warmish here but it is FEBRUARY. We traditionally have had our largest snow storms in March and even April. Folks can't seem to remember year to year. I look at the nice days as gift days and try not to grumble too much when Ma nature byach smacks us.

Snow is definitely more fun than rain and wind!

I have never been on one. I fear less control. Also, around here. I just do not like to road bike. The area is perfect for it.... if there were no cars. I am going to try to start riding on the parkway. At least the traffic is more controlled there. The problem with that is it us up hill for as many miles as you would like to go. Then down. period.

I can remember on more than one occassion getting 3 feet of snow in March. The few warm days were nice, but winter isn't over yet.

I did it yesterday. I signed up for the Marine Corps Marathon. Everything I do from now until Oct 30 is to get me to the finish line.

I have a hm scheduled for mid April. After that I don't have anything scheduled until the events at Lake Lure. Then a tri in Oct, and the marathon. I may do a local 5k or 2.

I was more nervous signing up for the marathon this year than I was last year.

i told my kids yesturday when theyre grown and gone im moving somewhere SUNNY AND WARM.

they can come an visit anytime they want.

I've told mine the same thing. I told my daughter if she wanted to go to college someplace warm I would move there a year or two early to set up residency so she could get in-state tuition. Wasn't that very kind of me?

yes.

very kind indeed.

i told my kids they should be grateful to have mother that lives someplace warm and sunny cuz they'd always have that sorta place to visit.

You all are so sacrificing for your kids.. it brings a tear to my eyes.

you know it!

ironannekidd - 2011-02-24 6:39 AM I did it yesterday.

MARINE CORP IS HARD CORE.

way to go you!

YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well your last year there sucked. This year will be WAY better! You have tons of time to train for it. You will know about hydration and fueling the day before and you will have Ghoulies to make sure you make it to the finish line!!

I will sign up for the 10K. I talked to the DH last night about it. He may as well. That would be fun.

wgraves7582 - 2011-02-24 7:25 AM Morning Ghoulies.

I can remember on more than one occassion getting 3 feet of snow in March. The few warm days were nice, but winter isn't over yet.

blah blah blah blah....stacie says with fingers in her ears.

frankly, im in DENIAL.

early spring it is.  THE HOG WAS RIGHT!!!!!

That would be AWESOME!!!

Here's the stupd thing. I had a fuel belt on with Gatorade, and a gel flask. I forgot about them. I totally forgot about them. At one point I was even looking through my pocket thinking I had a gel in there, then remembered I used it right before the race, and I didn't remember I had the gel flask on me.
