Rudedog55 - 2011-05-25 9:20 PM Did the local Crit race tonight, FASTEST RACE I DID EVER, I raced with the "A" group which is p1-2-3-4 categories, wow what an experience, i was on the gas the entire time, i was mid pack and averaged almost 26mph for an hour, i was ready to puke at the end. You cannot believe how fast some of these guys are, the only saving grace was a couple of the leaders and my teammate that won the points total came up and thanked me for driving the pace and working hard for them, they seemed to appreciate the fat guy at the front taking all the air so they could draft.

Kel tells me the same thing.

Except its hard for me to keep my cadence up when you're riding so very slow . . .

The only thing I have to say is "Holy Sh*T"    That is FAST.  Simply awesome!!!!  Nice job

Uhm... yeah... agreed.

Hour plus on the trainer and time in the pool this morning.  Today is my Friday.  My family starts showing up today for the weekend celebration of my daughter's and my bdays.  Long run tomorrow.  Wife is already dropping hints she doesn't want me doing my long ride on Sunday.  Booo to that.  And SOB IMTX registration is still open.  Argggggghhhhh.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edBOj0R51lM

My new pre rigorous training video.

You could trade -- foregoing for long run on Sunday in exchange for registering for IMTX.

Ah the humor in here this morning.

Shaun- just change your screen name to TheRealityCheck or something.  KQ running a 20 minute mile.  I'm hoping before age 40 and think that's ambitious.

Kelly-  I like the way you think.  May throw that idea out there and see how quickly it gets crushed.  Not to paint the wife in a bad light though.  She has a schedule to have us out of debt totally minus the house and cars by November so IMTX entry really isn't conducive to it.  I get it.

I think I'm starting to garner a reputation as 'dream crusher' in the C&A forum.

A guy stated that his goal was to KQ in 4-4.5 years and currently running 20min/mile.  I just couldn't sit back and let others feed him endorsement without baselining the realities.

It is one thing to crush dreams with and vinegar to be spiteful, it is entirely different to do it with facts and reality, you only provided facts and reality, it is up to the person involved to accept the challenge they lay before themselves and either succeed or fail.

I'd rather someone crush my dreams with vinegar and spite.  At least that way I can just write them off as being an ahole, and continue in my own little dream world where I crush Lieto on the bike daily.

and then crumble like Lieto on the run?  Once again, there's no such thing as a good bike followed by a bad run . . . ask Shaun.

If the wife won't let you do IMTX what ar her thoughts on Galveston 70.3 (I'm planning on doing on TX double next year -- Galveston in April and IMTX in May).

It's funny because he's from here, or at least part of high school, and should know how to deal with the conditions.  Oh and I'm down for Galveston.  Flat and if the wind stays down REALLY fast.

Rest of my year is:

Sylvan Beach Sprint (1100m swim though)- June 12th

Bridgeland Sprint- First weekend in August

Clear Lake Int'l Oly- Last weekend in August

Austin 70.3- Oct. 23rd.

Looking for solid bike or run only events to participate in too.

Well that's disappointing.  Tongue out

On a serious note I'm thinking about getting NASM and USAT Level 1 certified in the next year.  Working behind a desk is slowly killing me.  Bad side effect is Cindy, the wife, is thinking about doing a HM in November and wants me to train her.  This could end poorly.  I'm okay training people that I have only a professional relationship with.  If they skip workouts I'm fine and adapt.  If she skips workouts I start thinking about all the time she spent watching shows on the DVR where she could be training and get snippy.

When Kel initially mentioned that race, I got excited.  When she explained it in detail, I wanted to sue the RD for false advertisement.

My rt hip is sore today. Well, it was yesterday too when I ran. Just kind of tight I guess. Ran anyway, which probably wasn't ideal.

It's sore at the front of the hip, kind of right where the pelvic bone sticks out, if that makes sense.

Any stretches/ideas out there?

if anyone wants to see what a very fast crit looks like on paper, here is my garmin from last night, the only thing it does not show is HR, i forgot my strap, kinda bummed i would bet i averaged almost 160bpm

it was a 30 lap race, the auto lap missed a few times, notice the 30 hill repeats in the elevation change and the speed fluctuation, serious ebb and flow in a race, each one of those hills i am putting anywhere from 6-900 watts out to go up at the speeds you need to keep with the field.

My summer looks like this:

June 12 - Wendy's International Triathlon sprint distance (Columbus, OH)

June 26 - A Most Excellent Race 10k (in my hood...really big event)

July 10 - Lorain summer sprint triathlon (Lorain, OH)

August 7 -  Cleveland sprint triathlon

August 28 - Chicago Triathlon olympic distance

I want to find another HM for October, and I may add the Huntington Beach sprint tri on July 26.  All of my training is geared toward the Chicago olympic.  Has anyone here done the Chicago Triathlon before?

I'm actually starting to think ahead to my next season.  I want to do Eagleman 70.3 next June.  I'll need to register for that in a couple weeks.  I'm also going to do the Chicago Marathon (my first at this distance).

OK, race schedule totally changed and up in the air right now.  Did PT today.  Strained hip flexor and swim Monday without the pull buoy likely irritated it which is why it hurt so much Tuesday.

So, dropping olympic triathlons, but may try to do a couple sprints.  I mean I just bought the darn wetsuit so I have to use it right???  Plus, water is WAY TOO COLD right now anyhow.

For sure races:

Soldier Field 10 Miler - this weekend (PT mention he would probably not do this race, does that mean I shouldn't???  I mean it was listed in Active.com's 10 best Memorial Day Races, and one of my fundraising races - may be race day decision)

Elgin Fox Trot 5k - this weekend (my nephew is doing the kids tri Sunday and running this with me Monday)

Pleasant Prairie Sprint tri - June 26

Peapod Half Madness - early Sept

Fox Valley 20 Miler - Sept 20

Chicago marathon - Oct 9
