Maybe I have been out of the dating game too long.  But man, what happened to just "find a nice girl/boy and settle down"?

Everyone has to have this, or make that, or be this...

I met my wife and she was living on a Futon in a tiny apartment, making something like 12k a year, no car, no driver's license, ate free side salads from the bar she worked at - sometimes working from 3pm to 10pm and only make 10 bucks...

Plus I was no billionaire.  I don't think I could stack up these days in the world...

It's all the same difficulty, just the parameters change.  Things that weren't important before are now, and vice versa.  People also start to get to know themselves a little by the time they hit their late 30's, so they have a better idea (supposedly) of what they are looking for.

Ok, all that sounded good as I was typing it, but in reality ... I don't think anyone REALLY knows squat

For most of history, it was more important what you owned/made or how strong you were as a man and how visually attractive or how much money your daddy would send with you for a woman. It's only in the last century or two we've been picking our own wives/husbands.

I was talking to a Hindu Indian guy who works with me and he was miserable because his parents keep arranging marriages for him and then he breaks them off. I said "as the father of a girl, I wish I could have a say in who she marries, but in our culture all I can do is feed her lots of chocolate and not buy her acne products until she's out of college..."

Yes get to the Doc! You are old now so you don't want it getting worse.

Hi TAN!

How does this happen?   Now that I've gotten one job offer and accepted in writing (though my background check hasn't been completed yet), I get a call last night saying that a position has opened up at the firm that I've wanted to be at from the day I met the managing partner a few months ago.  I've got an interview with them today (going to be leaving in about 15 minutes), but how much of a schmuk would I be to renege on a job that I've already accepted?

Oh, and I reached for the wrong thing and accidentally used Oust as hairspray.  At least my hair will smell nice?

If you have a physical therapist that you can talk to, or better yet, a trainer who is a PT, try starting there.  The trainers at my gym are all licensed PT's, so I go to them for all my little aches and stuff.  If nothing else, they know anatomy really well, and the various exercises to combat common ailments.

I'd definitely start with rolling and stretching though.  It seems lately that any time I start getting real pains that it is always a result of a lack of stretching.

do you have time to wash your hair before you leave?  i'm not sure your floral air freshener scent will win them over.

and you can absolutely go back on your offer.  another opportunity came up and you had to take it.  done.

That would suck to renege like that, but be up front in the interview today that you have this deal and that if they are interested, they need to let you know ASAP.

If they offer you a position, weigh your newfound options  :-)  If you take it, it's rude and all that to the people you just accepted the position with, but your job is to look out for you.   Signing that offer letter just states that you have accepted their offer... it's not a contract.
