HA HA - I'm doing that run challenge as well.  I'm glad your team got a late start so at least we won't lose the post count sidebar.

I'm not surprised you are enjoying the running - I think it hits you one day and you think "hey, this isn't so bad."  :-)  Keep up the good work!  Are you racing the 28th?

Sorry, but we're on the second thread already.  We have some serious chatterboxes on our team.

I'm racing Saturday the 27th.  (But will be away for the whole weekend, thus no Sunday morning yoga.)

Oh - did you join the original Taser Running group?  I thought maybe she started a 4th group.  And yes, there is some serious chatting going on.

I will be thinking about you that weekend.  Tony and I are racing on Sunday!  Only about 30 min. from our house so that is nice.

And alas last week was party week - beer, wine, bad but yummy food.  This week its back to training which means only alcohol as needed.  Like when the kids are pushing us over the edge.  Yell

Yup, I'm with Taser Running.  No 4th group, Dee just cut us off at 100 pages so we wouldn't blow up the forums.

Hi everyone - I had to take a few days off from training while I battled strep throat.  YUCK!  I hadn't had that since I was a kid.  Anyways I seem to be better and may get in something tonight or at least this weekend.

how is everyone?

Ugh!  At least it waited until after your race.  I'm glad you're better.

I'm either totally exhausted or wired for sound, depending on the day.  Today was a rest day, so I didn't get up for a workout, then didn't get up for work either!  I did finally, but had to rush to get out the door on time.

Strep is no fun!  I am glad that you are feeling better.

I am doing fairly well.  The quarter is almost done-I took my only final this morning.  My landscape design project is due first thing Monday morning.  I have a long way to go yet.

I have a race on Sunday.  It was my first ever tri last year.  I also raced the same course last fall.  my times were 1:46:48 and 1:22:46.  The swim is super short...only 250 yards.

My goal for this race is 1:20.  I don't know if it will happen or not-I haven't been training much and I have a bad tendency to get shin splints on the run.  I am pretty sure that it is going to be raining.  Seattle tied it's spring drought record...29 days without rain, but now it is pouring.

...I am being called. I'll *see* y'all around.

Thanks I am definitely feeling better.  I had the best run in weeks last night.

Good luck at your race and with your landscape project.  Smile

I am making a great pre race dinner-
fettuccine, salmon, and asparagus. Nummy-num-num. Plus I am actually remembering to push my fluids.

whoo-hoo!

I just hope that I am not still sore in the morning.

I've gone from being full of energy to a few days of not really caring about the race or training, and now I'm just feeling unprepared and nervous.  We are leaving as soon as I'm done with work tomorrow, and I haven't packed anything yet.  I really have to get myself together.

Go Debbie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  You will do great - take it one step at a time and have fun.  Your family will be there to cheer you on and think about the post race food and fun!

BTW - That is one of my training secrets. One long runs or bikes I start thinking about what yummy food I am going to eat when I get home.  That occupies my mind for a good 30-45 min.  Wink

YAAAAAAAA HOOOOOOOOOO - just finishing up some coffee.  It's cold in my office even though it's 90 outside.

Hubby and I are enjoying another few days of the kids at Nana and Grandpas.  Last night we rode down the W&OD trail (local bike rail) from our house in Arlington to Reston (about 16m) for dinner w/ his brother and girlfriend.  2 beers, a yummy veggie sandwich and coconut gelato later we were back on teh trail in the dark.  LOL  Luckily there is a bike shop in Reston and we picked up a light so I was following close to my husband so I wouldn't run off the trail.

We saw hundreds of fireflies, 3 deer and 2 rabbits.  It was fun and a beautiful night.

I managed to get a huge blister on the ball of my foot.  Anyone have any tricks to help it heal faster?

We had a realtor show up at 8 last night to show the house (was supposed to be between 6:30 and 7:30, so we thought they'd already come and gone) and had to leave quickly and take a walk.  My son was in his pajamas, and in the rush to get out I forgot about shoes for him, so I ended up carrying him while we walked for 30 minutes.  (He's almost 6, so not exactly light.)  I don't know if it was the extra weight or if I got something in my shoe, but I'm hobbling around today because it hurts to step on it.

Not a great time to have a blister.

Not quite sure how to make it heal but I've gotten blisters on long runs.  I usually tape them up the next time before I go out to help protect the area and give some comfort.

Dunno if this will help, but i try to get the blister drained as fast as possible on the bottom of my feet cause the skin there regenerates pretty quickly. To do this:
Soak in warm tub, get the skin nice and loose... follow up with Burts Bees peppermint foot lotion. Feels wonderful.

I haven't been around for a while but just wanted to wish everyone racing this weekend good luck, especially Debbie for her first tri!

I was in Cancun last week for a good friend's wedding, which was fun.  I got in a few good runs but ate way too much because it was all-inclusive.  Oh well it was a good time.

I'm loving running recently.  I broke 25 mins over 5k this month (super-slow for many of course), which was one of my goals for '09, and have become able to comfortably run 10k without stopping for the first time since my early 20s.  Feels good.  This time last year I could barely run 2 miles without stopping in a panting mess.

Hope everyone is doing well... have a good weekend!
