Chat with you guys/gals tomorrow.

Jules - I sent a PM about an Ultra Cycling event in your area in case you and your hubby would be interested.  I am but it is a long drive!

If the pain is in your IT band, hip flexor stretching should help.  Also some easy traction of the legand hip if you get someone to help.

Being lazy on my day off playing online puzzles and checking out running/cycling gear!!  Doing some reading and even watching a little TV.  Gonna have a little lunch now ...  cheese bagel & cream cheese.  So very not nutritious...Smile

iowagander - 2009-10-13 10:38 PM Good night Ghoulies. I'm going to try and actually go to bed at a decent hour tonight. Wish me luck!

hope you had lots of good zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz time! did you make it to bed early as planned??

11:30 - only a half hour off the mark. Still slept pretty good though.

good deal! now tonight you go to bed a little earlier to make up for your late comings last night! and another nites good rest is an order!

stay away from the caffeine...that will help some...and no tv in your bedroom...supposed to keep your mind stimulated even while sleeping as is your alarm clock lights that beam at you...I just saw on that doctors show that a red light is the only color you should have in your room...and to think I always thought the red light was to be used outside the home to let you know who was inside waiting with a goodies package....

and seriously they did say the green color lights, blue lights and white lights that you find on most alarm clocks and radios next to your beds are not good for you...but the red color light is!!!! and to think someone actually did a focus study on this....next time will they pay me to talk about sleeping!!!

wow...I just heard on the news about a bicyclists that was hit by a dump truck and the dump truck never stopped....the cyclists died...this is the route my husband rides and so needless to say...I was a bit nervous when he did not answer his cell phone...but I did just call his secretary that said he is there! ...now I have to contact my brother to make sure he is home safely!
HOW SAD! and come on...did the dump truck really not know he hit something!??? hope they catch them!!!

That's terrible! I'm glad to hear your hubbie is OK. My thoughts and prayers are with the biker and their family.

just saw the noon news and it was a 58 year old woman...on her way to work...and the dump truck driver said he had no idea he had hit and run over her....WHY do I have SUCH a BIIIIIIIIIIIIIG problem with his story! I will give him a little benefit....it was nasty weather...but come on...you dont fill your vehicle run over a woman and bike...the bike was smashed to smithereens! <--- yes, they showed it! ;(

So today is a test day and I want to see if I need to see a sports doctor for this pain in my leg that I have been having running lately or if I need to stretch more and do more core work as well.

ok...If im not mistaken....Tracy (owl girl) is a physical therapists...and I am a wanna be one! so...tell us Bill where this pain is and when it is at its worst! we need details!

My left outer leg hurts way too much.  It is like a pinched nerve type syndrome and when I stop running it actually is painful to lift my leg up to stretch it out unless I stretch my hip flexors first and real good.

With all that being said I am leaning towards not stretching my hips enough when I am done riding and am focusing on that.

The bothersome part is today it actually aches and it has never been like that before.

Trust me on the Athletic part Jules - if I was going around 9-10 min miles I would just back it down.  This is painful at my 11 min mile pace and that bothers/worries me!

So I am open to all ideas and suggestions.  I should probably call the Chiropractor and get cracked to see where that leads me but I not happy right now!

I am going to let OWL GIRL evaluate you!

personally I say back off on some of your riding/be careful and if you feel it running do back of some on your running, too! CHALLENGE or NO CHALLENGE!

...TAKE LOTS OF ADVIL..ICE...ICE...ICE! and elevate when you can! sure you would like nothing better then to prop those feet up on the desk! hope it is just a sore muscle....I am sending NO MORE OUTER MUSCLE PAIN thoughts your way!

you all better now???

seriously, bill...you take care of that...and if you continue to feel it...NO MORE BIKEY AND RUNNY FOR YOU!

curious ~~ have you been fitted for your bike? it isnt a bike/pedal issue? I know that when I went in for mine...I thought I was sooooooooo dialed in...NOPE my positioning was awful and once I corrected it - I was amazed at how my neck no longer hurt...my lower back never ached like it did before...just a thought!!!

Julie, this is only a run issue.  No problems on the bike at all.  In the past it would be sore but I could continue on and just stretch it out at the end - last night I had to stop running from the pain and that is very unusual!

If it hurts tonight after being sedentary all day today then I back off the run but I have to give it a shot tonight (I am stubborn like that!)

Thanks for the input though!

It still could be a problem related to the bike...my PF doesn't hurt while I am riding, but it definately hurts more when I am running if I have been riding a lot.  When I don't ride as much the foot doesn't bother me as much.

You guys are killing my love for the bike

Alright I will take the rest of the week off of the bike and see how that progresses.  I have done a ton of mileage this year and it never bothered me running before - just walking and only periodically.

just cuz we want the best for ya buddy! no other reasons! I promise!!!

We always use red lights while standing watch late at night on the bridge of a ship for this exact reason. They don't affect your night vision as badly as white, blue, or green light. It makes sense, but I'm cheap lazy thrifty and am perfectly happy with the clock I currently have. Perhaps I could cover it up though...

kromanowski - 2009-10-14 11:20 AM Bill-  If it hasn't bothered you before then it might not be related to the bike...my problems with my foot started 3 weeks after I got my new bike so they were very temporally related.

so maybe you can get back on that bike and ride...where is owl girl when you need her....probably nursing her baby or changing dirty didies! being a good mommy as usual!

I know it stems from my hip because when I stretch it I can feel the nerve/muscle being relieved.  I just want to know if it is something my Chiro can crack out of me or if it is something else.

I don't mind not being able to run ever again - I just don't want it to go to my biking

Alright team I am bagging tonight's run because of my leg pain and it is not getting any better.  I am going to try some stretches tonight and see if that loosens it up but if this keeps up I am probably going to bail because I don't want it getting worst.

So what I need is some good healing vibes/prayers/thoughts (whatever you have I will take right now!) and I am going to see if pool time and stretch time works this thing out.

That means no biking for the weekend at least - hope that it goes away because I want to do my Grand Canyon tour next month big time!

is the earliest you can get in to see a doctor is the 30th?

im in serious need of some of BT chattin' time but it just aint happening for some odd reason.

oh well.  hopefully the skies will part and the Universe will lend me an xtra hour in my day....hell.  what i am saying.  Universe i need a butt-load of hours if im gonna keep up w this chatty bunch.  LOL.

i LOVE MY CHATTY GHOULIE TEAM!  YAY!

suffice is to say....im up to my eyeballs in this that and the other thing.

my middle son came home from school today to inform me that EIGHT kids were out sick JUST yesturday.  holy macroni, the plague DID descend on our fair suburb.  that's a lot of kids in just ONE class.....glad at least for us it didnt stick around long.

so far, no one else, including me are showing any signs of the cruds.  hopefully it stays that way.

i got in THE most splendid swim today.  2650yds total.  im really working on my form, rolling on the on the non-breathing side of the stroke, and just a super silly excited aside, w the exception of maybe two lengths, i did flip turns the ENTIRE session.  YA ME AND MY SUPER SILLY FLIPPIN' SELF.

i pounded out the details of my 2010 race calendar.  that was fun.  and also the remaining 18 days of my trng before the 1/2 MARY.  i love plans.  they keep me sane.  literally.

so its dinner time in a few - baked chicken, parmesean red potatoes, mashed and green beans.  oh YUM!

and then its on to my chic lit book club and GHIRIDELLI SAMPLES.  SCORE!  :P

have a MOST enjoyable evening, GHOULIES.
