Kido - 2012-12-06 11:14 AMThe wife has an extensive network of people and agencies and clients so we get invited to TONS of things.  We bail on most of them and only go to the important ones (don't tell them).  If they are close friends we go, but if we are just going to be lost in the mix of a business get together, then we may pass.
I don't have the social network like youse do. But I get the lost in the mix. I am not in a relationship and almost all of my friends that do a Xmas thing are married and have mostly married friends. I not only feel lost in the mix but lonely. Most of my single friends feel like me ...and they just do stuff with family.

I've been invited to one gathering, and this is pretty much the reason I likely won't be going.  It's never much fun being the single person amidst a room full of couples.

ETA: I'm on a roll with being on top today!

So, when is everyone's first Xmax party?

I have two on Sat to kick of the season.

i'm having some girlfriends over to drink wine and bake cookies on saturday, i think that counts.

You're quite excited about this aren't you.  I think this is the 3rd time you've mentioned it... Tongue out

We always throw our own dinner party for people "like you"

Single, away from family and don't have anywhere to go.  Most of Vegas is "transient" and don't have family.  We eat, drink wine, and play rock band on the PS3.  It's a hoot!

I have a video that resembles this situation quite closely.  The only thing missing is a strapping young lad that was brought in to "judge" the baking and his eventual group coercion to gain favor for his vote.

Man, I wish I had cool friends like you. I really enjoy playing rock band.

We've had one good party since I got out of the corps.  Cinco de Mayo last May.  Homemade margaritas, Pretty SeÑoritas.  The wife said "get the good tequilla."  Then after I bought it, she said "how much was that?"  I said "you don't want to know."

Drunk Rock Band is the best!  The people that have the most fun are the newbies.  It's amazing, they start apprehensive, but it's ADDICTING!  Suddenly, everyone it totally concentrating and into it and really focused.  It happens every time!  Just pass the instruments and take a beer/wine break!

Plus I can show off my mad fake guitar skills!

I wouldn't mind a 4 on 1, or 3 on 1.  Heck, even a 2 on 1, but alas, that will always be a dream!  My nose, pressed against the glass, looking at all the fun.

On some occasions, just a 1 on 1 would be nice!

I am happy to say I have ZERO Xmas parties to attend.

Maybe we should have TANmas party??

Nah. I was invited to some stuff ...just declined. Remember, I really don't like the Xmas hoopla.

Funny - you don't look all green and hairy and rhyme your words, or say "Bah, Humbug".

It's not a bah humbug .... It's just an over the top commercial holiday for me and i see no point in it. I do the tree, presents bake cookies and such for my child (then and still). But other than her and my mom ...who isn't into it either...that's the only family I have left.

We're your (quite exented) family!  We LOFs youse!

That is the hardest for me too. They can be my bestest if friends and I'm totally comfortable with them ...but being around couples is hard for me these days. I don't always think people understand either. And the last thing I want to do is talk about being single or listen to all the advice coupled people want to give. It doesn't help. Sooo....not being in the situation is a win win for me!

What you need to do is just get hammered drunk at any party like this.  Then they'll either keep inviting you because you're a fun drunk, or they'll stop inviting you.  But when's the last time you gave advice to a drunky?

Shoot my only advise is usually do what you feel is best for you.  Beyond that everyone's situation is different so I figure you are doing what you need to do for you, who am I to contradict that.

So it's about 7 hours for Teej to go jam out to some Guitar Hero.  Or for the cost of gas, she could probably buy a new guitar...
