crowny2 - 2007-09-19 4:26 PM Ummm..... no, that is Joliet.

Flossmoor is a small village surrounded by other small villages and there are approximately 7 golf courses in about a 5 mile radius.

Yea I guess flaming smokestacks and golf courses don't mix so well.

mr2tony - 2007-09-19 3:21 PM I dated a cowgirl from Oklahoma once. Boy howdy tell you what that girl knew her way around the bedroom. And the living room, the hallway a few times, the bathroom, the stairwell and especially the laundry room. Too bad she didn't know her way around the kitchen.

HA!  She must have gone to Oklahoma State then.

crowny2 - 2007-09-19 4:15 PM  I don't know if that is something to brag about.

bla bla bla....whatever.

Hey, is Flossmoor where the smokestacks have flames coming out of them south of I80 coming into Chicago?

Sounds like a good place.

Only problem is that only one of them is public (but Links style from what they tell me).  The rest are Country Clubs, including Olympia Fields where they held the US Open a few years ago.

Yeah, not so much.  However, if you have been on I-80 on your way to Indiana, and gone over an incredibly huge hole in the ground (quary), that would be right next to where I work.  Daily dynamite blasts are fun on the noobies when they start work here.

Do they have any sort of warning siren?  Otherwise, I could never work there.

We had a garbage truck blow a tire in our parking lot once.  I was under my desk before anyone even knew what happened.  Took about 15 minutes for my hands to stop shaking.

The last time I made that drive it was still dark when I passed through town so I would have missed the fun.

Actually, you really don't hear it so much as feel it.  Ground shakes.  Sometimes lasts the blink of an eye, other times it lasts up to 3-4 seconds.  The longs ones usually shake the building pretty well too.  Plays just a little bit of havoc on some of our more sensitive equipment (lasers in PCR machines).

Alright, THAT I could handle.

Hey, I've been around demo enough to know that when you hear an unexpected BOOM, something went horribly wrong, and you better get your @$$ down.  It tends to be an automatic sort of reaction now.

Firecrackers make me twitchy on occasion, too.  Not the fireworks displays, but random firecrackers....

I have issues.

speaking of shaking buildings... The first time I ever experienced an earthquake was while living in Costa Rica.  Another thing I found it that they are quite common.  So I am working on the 6th floor of this office building and these earthquakes would roll through shaking monitors and moving stuff... scaring the Sh!!t out of me.

So after 2 years of living with these, I move back to Charleston and work on the second floor of a small office building.  Yeah well the floors here shake when people walk by.  First time that happened I jumped out of my chair and almost bolt for the door when I realized that it wasn't an earthquake.  Got some strange looks from my colleagues on my first day.
