Kelli is gonna crush it!  a PR or new PR is in order!  weeeee dogggy!    anyone, Bueller...Bueller...

I don't necessarily know that I'll be crushing anything....except maybe for a few post-race beers   I've never done a 10-miler, so it'll be a PR no matter what happens.  I don't really excpet to be all that speedy, so I looking at it more as a training run and just planning to have fun, check out the cherry blossoms & enjoy some spring-ish weather.

Sounds like the ingredients to a perfect race!  And by all means... crush them beers!  Aids in recovery!  Enjoy, burn some calories (make room for beer), and have FUN!

Training plans for the weekend?  Racing? (besides Eric of course)

Kelli is gonna crush it!  a PR or new PR is in order!  weeeee dogggy!    anyone, Bueller...Bueller...

For moi... long ride tomorrow (3+ hours) and a long swim and long run on Sunday!

I will trainer tonight for about 1:15 then Saturday I will run, yes folks I said run. I havent run in 4 weeks and the calf is feeling good. It will be a slow one but non theless it will be a run. The long outside ride on Sunday.

Ooooh!  Exciting.  Fingers crossed that you don't have any trouble with the calf and can slowly start working runs back into your training.

That's totally a reason to race if I've ever heard one.   I hope it's totally enjoyable!

I'll do a full report later but quick version is the race was going great swim 28, bike @22.6,3mi run @7:10... Then out of nowhere I start puking. Not sure exactly what it was from cause I felt fine and well within myself. I tried to recover and start running again and at this point I knew there was only one of my AG ahead of me. I had no luck ended up throwing up every few miles for 3 times total. I refused to walk so I shuffled my feet the best I could not sure what the split will be but 10+/mile I'm sure. Final time of 5:15 35th in AG which isn't too bad considering the circumstances. I'm a lttle dissapointed but just goes to show ya never know what will happen on race day and there's always next time...

So sorry to hear your stomach wasn't holding up you today!! Definitely understandable that its frustrating and disappointing but you still had a really solid race with super super speedy swim and bike times. You should be really proud of yourself for that! Way to push through the finish....great job! And, I probably spent half the morning more interested in your race than my own My race... Short version now, full later...The weather in DC more perfect! At the start it was mid 50's, sunny and clear. I never posted my goal time bc after the past couple weeks I didn't think it was realistic, so I decided to run today as a training run and just have fun. My goal was an hour and 30 minutes. Felt really great the entire race!! Around mile 7 I checked my watch and realized I was on track to beat my goal. The tank wasn't close to drained yet so I pushed a little harder and finished in an hour and 27 min.

Nice job to both of you!

Eric, I bet it takes a lot of determination to keep going in a race when you're feeling like that much crap.  I've got a whole new level of respect for you there... great job for getting in done.

Kelli!   How exciting to beat your goal in your 10 miler!  Nicely done sis

Eric ~ my hat is truly off to you brother.  I know your training and expectations were not what the end result was, but the fact that you still hung in there and posted a great finish is great testament to your drive and passion for this sport.  So many people (maybe even myself included) would have thrown in the towel, rather than persavere and finish!

It is SO true that, even with great training, come race day ~ anything can happen! It is that mental strength that gets you through things like that!

Kelli ~ GREAT RACE!  This is tough to say, when Eric had the race he did, but it is a wonderful thing, when all goes perfectly on race day... That is the way I felt during my last race.  It is a true high to experince that!

Once again, I am proud of both of y'all ~ for your efforts and accomplishments.  You both motivate me and make me want to push myself harder for different reasons.

Eric ~ there's always next time?  I know it is pretty quick, but Buffalo Springs Lake Tri is still open.... I am just saying!    Take some quality time to recover and I will see ya at the park soon!

Oh wait... you didn't say anything about naked.

I didn't know you were in Houston for the weekend... "hence seeing me naked in public...how else would you have known that such a thing occurred"  I wasn't going tell anyone since I didn't think there were any witnesses.

I like beer, but I DO NOT do the shot thing...or at least I hadn't - until Sat night - for at least 10 years or so...  Now I clearly know why I waited that long before doing it again!  Kelli's lil' mexican friend with benefits, ol' pedro "Patron" showed up... I am just gonna say, if I ever meet that A-hole in a dark alley somewhere, I am gonna kick his a$$, and deport him!  I seemed to have recovered and I am looking forward to picking up where I left off Saturday afternoon, with an AM swim, and afternoon run tomorrow.

Happy Monday group!

Thanks for all the support guys, really means a lot. I was really upset when I started throwing up and I'd be lying if I said I didn't think of throwing in the towel. I just decided that shuffling my feet to get to the finish is better than a DNF and that's all I could think about then, amazing how quickly your race goal can change

I don't think I'll be joining Justin in Buffalo springs but I'll be giving the distance another try at Longhorn 70.3 in October

Not sure if it's good/bad but it made me feel better... even if I went my goal time I would have ended up 5-8 in AG so I wouldn't have made Clearwater anyways.  Need to push the workouts even harder this time around, starting in a few weeks anyways

Not sure what I stepped on but it was as I was walking/running out of the water to get to land. Drenched it with hydrogen pyroxide and neosporine, never know what the heck got in there from Lake Pontchartrain

So I got a little sad tonight when I read...

The Winter/Spring 2009 mentor program has officially ended.  What next?

The group can disband (thank your mentor!).
The group can still post to keep in touch even if your mentor has left.
You will probably get archived though you can still see and post in your threads if this is your preferred method of communication.

Even when they archive the thread I'll still check and respond to it regularly. I had a great time getting to know each of you and will continue to keep in touch and watch those training logs, I hope you all do the same!
