Dear Nibbs - please do not ever let me enter into a conversation on anything related to politics in COJ ever again... I usually dont open the threads... but I did... left a comment and came back the next day to find it had blown up to 3 pages and Id been misinterpreted and accused of legitimising tyrants...

Not good.

Welcome to COJ, Cat.

Wow I just didnt expect to get the entire country of Australia slammed... IM actually a bit offended by some of the stuff...

Responded but I really really thought people were open minded around here and capable of recognising anothers opinion and respectfully disagreeing and stating their own case without resorting to that kind of behaviour!

It happens more than I would like to see.  I stay out of a lot of the political and religious thread now just because it annoys me so much.

Yeah its got me wound up... it feels like one person is really pushing their opinion...

yup I have avoided them because they seem to getridiculous... I just didnt think for a second talking about being respectful would be misinterpreted!

Oh well... you learn I guess

that's okay Cat... we will never criticize you for anything you say... we will only make fun of it and never let you live down strange comments..

where are those pantyhose????

haha I dont mind being criticised as long as its constructive!

Thanks hon... I perhaps should talk myself off the couch and out to burn it off....

But Im really not feeling it!

Artemis - 2009-04-10 12:21 PM Cat (and Dee and anyone else interested): went to the doc today. The GI I saw last year mentioned he thought it might be IBS, so that's what I'm being treated for right now. If that doesn't work, I get to go back in for lots of tests again.

Oh that would be a great outcome Jen! Crossing my fingers for you!

I know you had a colonoscopy so at least we know its not what I have!

Yep. They also tested me for Crohn's and Celiac Disease, so I know it's not either of those. IBS fits - the pain gets worse when I am really stressed out or eat really bad.

So far, I don't feel much different from taking the meds before I eat. I imagine it may take a few days. And I'm supposed to change my diet and stop eating junk and more veggies and fiber. Yeah.

Also watch out for dairy, fat, coffe etc..

It will be personal in terms of what sets you off so youll have to watch what you are eating and how your body reacts! I hope that is what it is Jen!

I just hope it's reasonably easy to treat and I stop feeling sick soon. This way, I don't need surgery, which is nice.

Seriously as far as diagnoses goes thats excellent! Its is a hard one to diagnose to because not muchreally shows up on an MRI or stuff which is consistent with whats been going on!

My doc said it's usually done by exclusion, which is the point we're at now.  If the treatment works, that's what it is.

I feel kinda bad discussing my intenstines so much.  Sorry.  Embarassed

no dairy... no fat... no coffee... hmmm....
let's see that hits me big on breakfast, fuel, and dinners...
yep, I'd starve

No kidding.  I love dairy, fat, and coffee.

I had a salad and some pasta for dinner.  It was boring.

I stopped taking baths when I realized that they often were followed by UTI's... though I suppose if I only use epson salt and no oils or bubbles... well, maybe some bubbly in a glass

Epsom salts alone don't seem to be a problem (at least for me).  They are so helpful and relaxing.

Don't worry about it! We are here to listen, and help if we can. I've been a little quiet lately because I just don't know what to say. it sucks that you are going through this. (((hugs))) to you, Jen. Sounds like you might have somewhat of an answer, which would be really good news.

Its fine with me! Ive been there... after the round with doctors and stuff a few years ago its funny what you start to think is NORMAL to talk about!!!!

X 2. As a pediatric nurse and as a parent, it's funny what has become normal conversation topics. I really have to censor myself when I'm not around people I work with or my immediate family. As a matter of fact, I was discussing poop with a couple colleagues over ice cream sundays at work tonight. Totally normal conversation while eating, right?

Lots of times, I get told not to talk about work at the dinner table.  Animal dissection doesn't go over well with lots of people.

I haven't read the thread. (I don't look at CoJ frequently.) But if you feel it's really offensive, you can ask one of the mods to pull it (or to delete the offending posts).

Yeah.

Once again, I should have kept reading. (But I have 2 days worth of posts to go through.)

OK, so it's not Crohn's or Celiac disease. Those were the two I was thinking of.... Aren't there some new meds for IBS?
