Champion 4835 Eat Cheese or Die | Subject: RE: Ironman Wisconsin : Official Thread I registered this afternoon around 3:15 and spent my whole 1.5 hour drive home a total nervous wreck. I'm starting to calm down a bit. My buddy lent me his wheels so if anyone see's a slow guy on a green cross bike with hed race wheels, say hi. |

Is this more of a course/transition overview? I am planning on going but don't want to feel as though not making it is a huge deal. I'm wondering this as well? I registered today since I was conveniently in Madison for work, but I would be driving an hour an a half each way just for the meeting if I go tomorrow. The family is moving to our hotel on Saturday and I'd just as soon skip the meeting if it won't be a huge issue.I think it's well worth the time to be there for these reasons: 1). Course information. 2). Specific responsibilities and concerns. 3). The camaraderie. 4). Pretty decent dinner. 5). A chance to meet some cool peeps, and perhaps make a few new friends. 6). Great positive energy! Good luck! |

Everything is in the Athlete Guide. I skipped it last year. It was a good time to get dinner without a bunch of annoying triathletes around. |

Would love to hook up and do drinks...or for you IM'ers (water) Sooo tempting to have a real beer. Can't make the mid-afternoon shindig, but if anyone is around about 11:30 for lunch I will be downtown getting registered and walking the expo. |

Expert 924 Western WI | Subject: RE: Ironman Wisconsin : Official Thread Just a question about what you all are going to wear for the bike. It's going to be a bit chilly at 8/8:30 am and riding in 55 degree weather soaking wet will be even colder...what are you planning on wearing? I'm thinking about not putting on my tank till after the swim and adding arm warmers. They are small enough to stuff into my back pocket. Anything bigger (like a jacket, which would be ideal...) and I wouldn't know what to do with it when it warms up. I don't want to put it in my bike SN bag at half way because I prob. wont be getting that back... Any ideas? What's your attire plan?

I'm changing completely after the swim, toweling off and then wearing my normal bike kit plus arm warmers. I've done this before and while you are chilly for a little while it works well for me. You will warm up pretty quickly. Like you, I think carrying a jacket would be a pain. |

Did this the other day and though I had a gap between the arm warmer and my sleeveless jersey that was a tad cool, it was tolerable. I actually ended up leaving the arm warmers on until about 63 degrees, then slid them down to my wrists until I stopped. Then I threw them in a rear pocket and didn't even know they were there. If it's sunny, I expect to need them even less. |

You will warm up pretty quickly. Like you, I think carrying a jacket would be a pain. I'm planning on using a pair of my home made discardable arm warmers... a pair of old tube socks with the end cut open. Sounds funny but they keep your arms just as warm and you can throw them out/away at an aid station along the route when it warms up. For the guys is it considered "public nudity" to wear no tri jersey under your wetsuit. Basically the "public nudity" would occur upon wetsuit stripping at the end of the swim. I would of course be wearing my tri shorts This way my jersey stays dry and I can put it on in transition. |

That's awesome, because that 10 minutes plus my plan to start the swim on top of the ski jump so I can run down and then jump over other swimmers will surely put me in contention for a Kona slot! |

It's some blanket WTC rule so they don't offend people in and from some other countries and cultures. No nipples showing. Maybe I could wear a couple of bandaids Edited by knewbike 2010-09-10 9:05 AM |

First off - I'm glad they were okay and were able to get help. I don't like to see anyone struggle in the water, let alone anywhere else in events. 2nd - I hope it was some lack of calories issue rather than overdoing the taper! 3rd - I hope it wasn't one of you. Be careful out there fellow BTers. |

They will be on your right about 1/4 mile or son Once you go under the overpass. Also I sent most of you PM's for tonight with my number if anyone else needs it just send me a message.
