Trying out a new app. Race my Ghost. You pretty much set the mileage you want to ride, and it syncs with your Gps, HR and speed/cadence. It displays a little road and a bike. The first ride, you ride solo, then as you put in more rides, more bikes show on the screen as your previous rides. You pretty much race your previous rides, and they all show their current speed and HR as well. Something different to mess with. |

| Veteran 580 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2013 (Year 3!) - CLOSED I ordered the Cobb V-Flow Max and a PD FF seat post last week which should be here next week. I am really looking forward to that, as my stock saddle on my roadie hurts on the trainer cause I sit the whole time. 2nd Bike fit to follow. I also got a good deal on the saddle from Ebay - new and somehow 40 bucks cheaper than anywhere else. Trisports.com has a good demo program for those who are interested. My Garmin 910 is also coming next week. Yeah, some new toys. |

Started off in 398th place in a 450 person sprint, working hard to improve that by losing weight (50+ pounds) and training between raising my 6 and 9 year old boys and working. I live in CT and work in construction project management. I have a BS, and MS, LEED certified, lived in Dubai, and that's about it. Nice to meet ya Todd. Welcome..Congratulations on LP. I haven't done a Tri yet but will be doing a HIM in September and my first sprint is in May. Enjoy the day...watching the Pats?? |

| Expert 1121 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2013 (Year 3!) - CLOSED jarvy01 - 2013-01-20 1:30 PMJen, I have a 2010 Specialized Roubaix Comp. Kind of a funny story why I bought the bike. I was coming out of my first summer (actually three races) of mountain biking and wanted a road bike just to build endurance. Went to the LBS in January 2011, and they had this bike there, in my size. It's a little more upright than a lot of road bikes, but it's also carbon and super light. AND, it was mostly white, with a little blue. I love white cars, that's all I have ever owned, so this just seemed to fit. Totally wrong way to buy a bike, because it looks nice and is carbon. Although, i love the bike and very happy with it. Long story short, the bike originally retailed for $2,900, since it was a leftover, I got it for $2,200. Has Rival components, which I seem to really like. So I couldn't pass on the deal. I just need to be properly fitted instead of the basic fitting in the shop that I originally got. I am hoping the real fitting on Thursday will help with some of my issues. rizer22 - 2013-01-20 11:14 AM Speaking of saddles, my bike fit is scheduled for this Thursday. | Expert 1121 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2013 (Year 3!) - CLOSED So this Saturday, my non profit is putting on 3 hour Spin Class fundraiser. We have 2 awesome instructors with awesome music, trivia, raffles etc. we sold out all 40 bikes and 4 are bringing their own bikes and trainers, including me. Any other suggestions at making this a fun event? We also had bandanas made for everyone to wear with our logo. Will have plenty of water, fruit, power bars and Gatorade Prime. Should be an intense class, and fun at the same time. I'll also be starting to work on the 2nd annual 3.5 mile road race. Last year I built this as a first time race (with some help from Kelly) and we had over 250 runners. I was ecstatic with that for a first year race. It's September 15th. Is 350 too much of a reach for the second year? We gave away so much stuff last year in the swag bags, more so than any other short race I've participated in. Looking forward to directing again. So much work, but so rewarding seeing it all come together. Edited by rizer22 2013-01-20 5:36 PM |

Surgery was very rough, but thankfully the amount of novicane was not an indicator or future pain. No painkillers today, yay As for Adamo seats I have tried 3 ... I am currently on the prologue which has more padding than the breakaway, but also chafes the side a little more. I am dealing its it until I can talk myself back to the breakaway since that is a thinner seat, but a little harder. I also had the typhoon which is super comfortable, but wider so chafes more. All this chafing seems to go away for the most part when you get outside. Demo them from your shop a couple weeks at a time. They are not cheap! Glad you're doing well Carrie. After reading the link Scott posted, I'm leaning towards the Road (softer than the Racing) or Time Trial. The one I'm borrowing (Racing) is my friends old one. She has a different one, I need to find out which one she switched to and get her reviews also. I think she stopped using the Racing one because of chafing. And yes, they are not cheap! | |

I have no input on what to expect 2nd year - but just wanted to say that's really cool you put this on. I can see how it would be extremely rewarding. |

Trying to keep the costs down I only looked at local and drivable races. They are all so far out from Tahoe, I'm not sure if it makes sense to do a half this year. Thoughts or opinions? These are the ones I found - April 20th Chattahoochee Challenge Half - Columbus, GA April 20th - TriCharlestonHalf - Mt Pleasant, SC May 5th - Mountain Madness Half - Carters Lake (Ellijay) May 5th - Rev3 Knoxville June 1st - Rock 'n Rollman Half Iron - Macon, GA |

I love my bike, but I don't feel like I have the best fit. It feels too big for me. Anyway, I'm going to get fitted for a triathlon bike. Doesn't mean I'm going to buy, but I want to see what size I am and what my options are in store. I'm sure they'll have some older models they're looking to get rid of, and perhaps I can take one of those of their hands. I don't need new and shiny. I just need proper fit! |

My husband insisted that I keep costs down this year too, as IMMT is a huge money suck. I managed to find races in Ohio that fit my YTTP, but I am not doing HIM this year. |

It's not a must that you do a half leading into Tahoe. Is there one of these you want to do for the race itself? Is there one that falls at the end of a training block where you want to get a gauge of where you're at fitness wise? |

It is nice to have time to work out at leisure without pesky work getting in the way! Several of you have posted about saddles. That makes me curious - are these tri-specific saddles? What makes them different from standard road saddles? I'm going to go finish up my night's sleep now. Everyone, please enjoy your MLKJR Day! |
