Expert 1662 Spokane, WA | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society 2 - Closed No new training to report. Just checking in with a beer report: I did make it to the "booze superstore". I picked up a Ruinten IPA from Stone, along with a six pack of their traditional iPA. I would put their IPA in my top 10. Looking forward to tasting the Ruinten as it has something like a 10.8% ABV. Also rekindled my love for German Hefe Weizen with a brew from Paulener and Hauf Brau. I've been to the HB brewery in Munchen before, so this was a trip down memory lane. Will start the evening off with the Paulener tonight, and move over to the Ruinten, with all intentions of turning in semi early for a 5am wake up and day 1 of lifting in the morning. Have not had the Loft by NB, or the nutbrown, but Maybe look for them next trip to the superstore. Happy training and racing BDAS |

I am checking in for the challenges, even though I am going the wrong way! Weight: 216 +3 lbs, Body Fat% 28, and only 5/11 workouts so far. Hope everyone else is doing better with their goals! Have a good week! |

I actually lifted a bunch this summer and feel a lot stronger for it (at least I have no problem putting my bike on the roof of my car.) I lived through my Xterra today and had a blast. The course was beautiful! I knew I was under trained and the run was really hilly- so I went with the plan of just walking all of the uphills - which worked really well for me. I did fall off once and get a bloody nose and dirt in my teeth on the bike- but it didn't hurt too much or leave much of a mark. After a long nap I am enjoying a Tommyknocker Maple Nut Brown- which is really hitting the spot- and I'm already plotting returning to the same race next year. BTW- this race was my New Year's Resolution last year but b/c of my husband's work I had to drop off. I'm feeling pretty good about finishing that un-finished business. I hope everyone had a great Saturday. Congrats on the Xterra! I sure wish we had more race choices here in Mississippi. Sorry to hear about the crash. I've been lucky so far...I'm sure one will come my way sooner or later. Heard about a guy on a ride I considered joining last weekend. He touched tires while drafting and got hurt real bad. Shattered hip, broken ribs among other injuries. Good thing you weren't hurt any worse. Good job on following through on the resolution. Better late than never. |

145 Jackson, Mississippi | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society 2 - Closed Completed race #2. Hooray! Had a MUCH better race. Finished 20 minutes faster than last months race. I finished the swim w/o having to rest on a kayak! That was a big goal of mine. 14 minutes on the swim, better transitions, 20 mph on the bike and had a pretty good run with no cramping. Thanks everyone for the support along the way! Here's a race report if your interested. http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/RaceLog/races-view-container.asp?... Bill |

Extreme Veteran 968 Cape Coral, FL | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society 2 - Closed Spent a real nice day at the beach with most of it being in the water. I did some swimming to get more comfortable in open water but nothing serious. I felt more at ease knowing that floating is easier in salt water and the fear of drowning was, well, almost gone I did around 300 or so yards some breast some free but it was fun and I took it easy. I plan to head out to the beach again with the misses once a week until the race next month. I went and finally ordered my ISHOF buoy so I can relax when I'm in the water. |

New user 180 Auburn, AL | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society 2 - Closed My foot has finally healed enough that I was able to start training again. Went for a 30 min run this morning and it went a lot better than I thought it would after 3 weeks of doing nothing but eating and drinking beer. My goals for the week: get back to a regular training schedule, start tracking what I eat again. |

Extreme Veteran 968 Cape Coral, FL | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society 2 - Closed I see the ortho tomorrow morning about this damn burning thing in my leg as well as my shoulder issue (if you wonder why an orthopedic surgeon not a normal doc I go to him since he is an ex triathlete and his daughter is an Ironman) then on Thursday morning 11:30 = massage time Can't wait to see what it does for my IT band and patellar tendon. I should be back at everything this weekend and believe me I am taking it slow for sure. My lord I feel like I'm falling apart! I'm sure most of this can be worked through but after being out for 5 months I'm sure not prepared to take any more chances. Edited by Burd 2013-08-12 3:35 PM |

I have to go to the VA for medical and there are a bunch of WWII and Vietnam vets that are in real bad shape so the doctors treat us all the same. There are more handicap spots than normal ones and a boat load of wheelchairs when you walk in. Kind of sad really looking how the other vets get treated considering what they endured. |

Expert 1662 Spokane, WA | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society 2 - Closed Day 2 tomorrow. I ran trails through the woods between sub divisions after day 1 in the gym today. Some pretty good hills and good trail running practice. This was the most fun I've had running in a long time. I didn't even take a watch to track pace. Progress. |

My dad who lives near Ft. Myers found an awesome ortho who did MCL surgery on him at 79 when he told them if they didn't fix his knees he would act his age. He had to work really hard to convince them to do a sports medicine surgery on someone that old- they said they just don't do it. I think it bought him 2- 3 years of amazing quality of life. |

Good luck at the Dr's, I hope is nothing serious and can get resolved soon. I've dealt with patellar tendonitis and IT band issues, what helped me the most was foam rolling the crap out of my quads and IT band, oh yeah and no running |

Veteran 706 Illinois | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society 2 - Closed Been a few days since I last posted. Race Report for Rev3 Dells is up. I was overall pleased with the result, but some fast folks came out to play that day, and my age-group ranking was a bit of a disappointment. Weather was cold and rainy, but it was a fun race, and that's all that matters. On an amusing note, the finisher medal is also a bottle opener. #onlyinwisconsin Less than two weeks until the Chicago Triathlon, which is a lot flatter and should be a lot faster. |
