Sheeelllllllyyyyyyyyy!

Got any more recipes?   I still need to try the last one, but would very much like more of em.    And stuff I can make FAST  ha   I pretty much have to be able to make stuff in like 10 min or less.   Pretty much limits me to  microwave.  not saying that's a good thing.    I have a double oven.  I really needed a double microwave.     So anything you have that fits that scenario would be a help.

Mike,

Great idea on the calendar.  For those of us that are tech- handicapped:  when you say you have these on your phone.  What/How and how exactly?

Jackie,

Good going on the marathon  regardless on no PR.  It appears you changed your name and sex and thats gotta count for something.  Must have been the endorphins.

OK I'm back as myself!  Sorry about that...DH was logged in this morning and I didn't realize it.  He tells me he posts as me in his group all the time.  Funny!

Anyway...race report is up.  Link to it here:  http://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=465391    (I think...)

I'm disappointed I didn't achieve a PR or my goals...but I feel great about another marathon accomplishment.  How couldn't I?!?!  I'm glad to take a few days off and recover.  My legs are toast!  Once I get myself thinking straight again, I need to figure out what's on the docket for me in 2013!

Mike...GREAT Job on the PR!!  I like that race a lot!  I did the full course last year and that's the course I set my full PR.  So listen up folks, evidently there are PRs to be had at the Rock 'N Roll St. Louis!

Thanks again for the well wishes!  More this week on my AWESOME football playing 8 year old daughter who had a few tackles tonight and caused a fumble!  But my poor baby came home tired and sore.  That I did NOT like!

Jax!!

Congrats on your marathon!! When most people finish a marathon they go home, take a nap, and rest up for the weekend. Not you!! Way to go supermom!!

I hate to even mention the fact that you did't get your PR, because you did such a great job. But, I know that's probably weighing on you a bit!! You'll do it!! You're determined enough and some day, when the race is right, it will happen!

I read your race report and, even though it was not the race you'd hoped for, I can say from my limited experience that the ones that took the most mental energy and mental endurance are the ones that I most learned from, as well as the ones that I am most proud of, in hindsight. Get some rest please!! You're making me tired and I missed the last three days of training!!!

NO way Pam!!!   You found the a golden ticket  ha!  (willy wonka and I mean the Gene Wilder version)  Bet you had a good LOL when you saw it.  ha!  its a strange rare elixir isn't it?   And truly it IS better on a really hot day while training.

A metal post in the middle of the lake?  weird?  maybe some sort of depth gauge?  Don't want to have have thoughts  like  "I wonder if there will be a metal rod in the lake or not."    sheesh I have enough to think about with trying to use proiper form.

First, I did truly LOL when  saw the gatorade.  The man in the aisle gathered his wife quickly and left.  They didn't want to be around the psycho.

And as for proper form, what is that?  I think that I have good form when I'm tooling around for fun but put me with a bunch of people and I become the short stroke little twirp.

Mike!  You PR'd BOTH the race, and the Grill!!!   looked YUMMO!    Going through same sort of work scenario.    Running helps doesn't it?  :-)      Also does not take the same amount of time as Bike/Swim

Yes Dave, running really helps and it is so much more simple. I'll be re-evaluating my 2013 race goals after I get into a routine with my new gig. Thanks for the congrats everyone! FWIW, cooking is my other hobby and I have been known to host private races with cookouts afterwards. Just sayin.

Todd

I have an iPhone and used my gmail account to create the race calendar (and a couple others) plus I signed in to anotherq race calendar. Once I set gmail up on my iPhone, I can see all my calendars at the same time. I think I have to send you an invite to make it so you can log in. DM me your email if you want me to send you an invite.

Thanks! On Sundays I cook for our family and some friends that live across the street, wife has ALS. Pretty sad. That said, if anyone from the group happens to be in St. Louis some weekend, look me up and we can try to schedule a cookout. Wouldn't be the first time my wife would get to say "Mike is having a guy/girl over for dinner that he met on the Internet" and it wouldn't be the last :-). The first BTer I met was in a mentor group with me a couple years ago. We met to swim then went out to lunch. My wife could hardly control herself when telling out friends I was having lunch with a guy I met on the Internet :-). His wife piled on by saying she was going to get us shirts that said 43 match points :-).

As promised, a couple more questions:

1. For transition, will my bags that I checked for the bike and run (two different transition areas) be at my bike and transition spot when I get there, or do I have to pick them up from some other area on my way in from the swim/bike, then go to my transition spot with them?

2. Do I put my wesuit back inside the bag with my goggles and cap?

3. As far as the fluids on the bike, do I put those on and leave them overnight the day before, or do I bring those in the morning of the race?

Thanks, y'all!! We're on the road to Austin tomorrow, and I've got some busy days ahead with in-laws, etc. Hopefully I'll be able to check in regularly so you can all share in my neuroticism leading up to race day!!

Sarah, as a newbie, I can't answer any questions.  But since your internet access may be spotty as you prep, just wanted to wish you the best of luck.  I hope you have contact free swim, speedy transitions, good fluid handoffs on the bike, and a great run.  If you get a chance to post your number, please do so in case Austin has a track option.  Will be cheering for you Sunday with my pink pom poms.

This can be different depending on the Race.  Don't know Austin.  BUT IM-WI was the only race where they had separate Transition bag area's.  I would think, but do not know if Austin is set up like this.   I think its kinda rare.

More likely its like the Branson one below:

I've done six diff 70.3's ok one was a 69.1   And only one of those had different transition areas.   (Branson)    I drove out to T2 and set that area up on morning of the race.   Had to have bike in transition day before.  But I set T1 up morning of race other than that.

2. Do I put my wesuit back inside the bag with my goggles and cap?

typically they will tell you thats what they want you to do.  But in reality you will find people just trowing their wetsuit over the bike rack or on your transition area or whatever.   But yes back in the bag.

3. As far as the fluids on the bike, do I put those on and leave them overnight the day before, or do I bring those in the morning of the race?

Thanks for the well wishes, Pam. My last name is Adlakha if you want to track me. I'm not sure what my race number is, but I'll post it if I have a chance. I think you can probably use my last name, though.

Tom, way to go - putting the HM in the calendar.  I think we like crazy here.

Sarah, good luck on the HIM, can't wait to read the report.  I'm glad there are still group members racing.  It helps keep me from slacking since I'm done for the year.

What Dave said plus look on the website for athlete info. They normally have an athletes guide that will answer the transition bag logistics question. I'm with Dave on the wetsuit question too. You will have to go back and pick everything up anyway (unless the athlete guide says they will deliver your bag to you). Good luck and have fun! Looking forward to hearing about it.
