I really think the only way I'm going to be able to defeat my knee issues is to have stronger legs. The walking and running I'm doing on the treadmill will help that to a point. I'm going to have to start strength training, too. I HAVE TO DO IT!!! |

Champion 14677 | Subject: RE: GHOULIES moving towards the islands. givemashot - 2012-10-02 9:26 PM Did I mention to you guys that my daughter injured herself running? She's had shin splints this summer, then about 4 weeks ago, she realized that the pain was in a totally different part of her leg. We've been concerned about a stress fracture for a couple weeks, but the xray they took a few weeks ago was read by the radiologist as normal, so she's been going to physical therapy, and cut back on her running quite a bit. The sports med doc we went to today looked at it for about 20 seconds and said "well, it IS normal. Except for this sress fractur right...THERE." Yep. There's a fracture there. CRAP! I am glad you got it diagnosed. That is what happened to Jim. His foot hurt fo r ever, got the x-ray and it showed nada. Got a MRI and you could see the damn thing. Of course he made it worse in the mean time! |

I used to work with the wife of one of the founders of Black Diamond. Good stuff, and good people, for sure. Oh, and you need to come buy a treadmill for me. Er, haggle for me. I need one, but the hubby would say no. But I figure if he can buy a boat without my ok, I can buy a treadmill, right? I haven't done any homework on it yet, though. Which are the better types to buy? I haven't the faintest idea what's good and what's not. Help! Yep, you need to buy one. Period. I have a nordictrack. Same type as Ann, + and - for incline and speed but also pre-set numbers for miles per hour and also some pre-set workouts. It was on a 1/2 off sale. I looked around at local shops (including Dick's ICK I HATE that store). I ended up at Sears of all places, they had the same models as every where else, they were having a 1/2 off sale and it had a 3 year warranty. They are all similar to a point, do what Ann did, read the reviews and buy one that doesn't have to be shipped. |

EVERY time I have been in there, I am treated like a second class person. I have had a salesman who was helping me look at 100+ dollar shoes, dump me for a young man who was just asking questions. If you don't have a dick, you are not getting helped at Dick's! |

If you don't have a dick, you are not getting helped at Dick's! I have that same problem at Gander Mountain, and Bass Pro Shops. I stood at a gun counter for 15 minutes, once and no one helped me. My brother came over to see what was taking so long and someone came over right away. TOTALLY PIZZED ME OFF! |

Champion 16743 Somewhere I can be nekidd | Subject: RE: GHOULIES moving towards the islands. Here's the thing... When I go shopping for a big ticket item I've already done my homework. I don't need anyone to SELL me anything, I know what I want. I just need someone to get it for me and meet me at the checkout counter. That's what's driven me to do a lot of shopping online now. If I can get something delivered, for a reasonable shipping cost, I'll go that way. The total lack of customer service is infuriating to me. |

I am going to make a spider costume. Jim is undecided. We don't do much for Halloween, other than the kids go out and collect too much candy. We do have a party in the fall, probably the 20th this year. We invite a bunch of people over, cook over the fire, the kids play games, we go on a hayride. We usually have it the beginning of the month, it will be cold by the 20th, but with softball on weekends we have to wait until we have some free time. |

Master 3479 Utah | Subject: RE: GHOULIES moving towards the islands. Am I a bad parent if I opt to go for a run instead of go to parent teacher conferences this afternoon? The Boy has an eye appointment this afternoon, so I can't run later, and The Girl is hanging out with some friends this afternoon. She's getting a couple of c's right now, but we have electronic gradebooks and I can look at her grades any time I want, and email or call the teachers. The appointments for parent teacher conferences are only 5 minutes long. What would the Gouhlies do? |

Champion 16743 Somewhere I can be nekidd | Subject: RE: GHOULIES moving towards the islands. Caleb had a football game last night. Our schedule said the game was at 4:00. The game was at 5:30. They lost 8-2. They played well, the officiating was HORRIBLE! Everyt time we got a first down they'd bring it back for something. One time they brought back a 50 yard run, they never marked off any penalty yards though. One time, after our runner had picked up 12 yards, and a first down, they threw a flag in the backfield, where no one was, and called holding, and moved the ball back. it was absolutely ridiculous. I think the replacement NFL refs now officiate 7th grade games. |

He sent me a text just after 6 this morning and said he was sore all over. I told him to just stay in bed and rest a little while, he said he was already up. I told him to go take a hot shower, it would relax his muscles and get his blood flowing. Next weekend is when I take my Mom back to Florida for the winter. Hopefully we can see some changing leaves this weekend before she goes home. They are starting early this year. |
