that is success my friend!

Nice looking finisher Medal and bevi. Way to go Charles. I couldn't get in to view the race report. It keeps asking me to login each time I click on the report, but after logging in, I'm sent to different page. weird.

Day 3 today.

Question to anyone who's ever trained with weights. I was doing squats today, and immediately got muscle cramps in my inner hammi's, like right after my first set. so tight, I just gave up on the squats. Has anyone ever experienced muscle cramping from lifting weights? If so, how did you deal with them. I'm thinking that I may just need to ease into the squats SLOWLY... Finished up today in the pool. swam 500 yards doing drills and such.

Day 4 tomorrow, Stone IPA tonight. Stay thirst Beer Drinkers!

Race Report for Rev3 Dells is up. I was overall pleased with the result, but some fast folks came out to play that day, and my age-group ranking was a bit of a disappointment. Weather was cold and rainy, but it was a fun race, and that's all that matters.

On an amusing note, the finisher medal is also a bottle opener. #onlyinwisconsin

Less than two weeks until the Chicago Triathlon, which is a lot flatter and should be a lot faster.

Too cool! A finishers medal that won't just hang on the wall.

Congrats on the race Charles! I like the medal, what beer did you open with it?

Metroplitan Brewing Ironworks Alt - a medium-hoppy IPA. Not my usual fodder, but was a gift from one of my hop-head friends. Very drinkable.

if it was one side only, i would be concerned about a possible tear. I would not use the hami's for at least 3 days and then test it. If it hurts at all I would take more time off.
If it was both sides, you are probably being a bad boy and not stretching and foam rolling like you should.

Stretching: No
Foam Rolling: No
Possible problem solved. Wondering if just the light amount of weight maybe too much as well. Won't test it out till Sunday. As it is, this is the only activity this ever happens to me, the dam squats.

HEY GUYS!

It's my most favoritest time of the year!

We're having a house-warming party, so picking up a variety beer (naturally), including my first Octoberfest of the season.

Here's to you, Octoberfest, with all your wonderful malt tones and none of the aggressive hoppiness that dominates summer beers. Here's to the Marzenbier, laid down in the cold and bleak spring, waiting Autumn's dawning for harvest celebrations!

To all the hop-heads out there, enjoy your potpourri and pine trees while you can! Long live the malt!

I did 4 in the Army.

I did 4 as well in the Army. Spent the last 6 months in medical holding with plans of going at least 4 more years but due to the medical issues I picked up in Desert Storm I decided it best to leave on a high note.

Hey guys, been a crazy week just checking in and trying to get caught up.

Thanks to you guys for Serving, I know it is in a different country, but stil, thank you.

I am in the Canadian Air Force Reserve and my Bro-in-Law is starting his Training on Fighter Jets up here on CF-18's (same Jets that the Marine's and Navy flies in the US)

Hey Folks,

As I mentioned before, life has been crazy busy, Work, Reno's, One Year Old....One Year Old!

Not sure how I am doing on the August Challanges, I think weightloss is going no where fast, I have been running a lot, and may still be on track for the workout challange, Ill have to see about that.

We are about two weeks out from a big three week family trip home to the East coast of Canada, My family is on Prince Edward Island, my wifes is in Nova Scotia, so we are pretty excited about that. I was looking for a sprint to do on vacation, but I dont think it is going to work out timing wise for that.

Going to try getting back on the logging train here, or rather...begin loggin... Food is the Enemy!... not really but you know what I mean.

Ok guys and gals, I volunteered last week for an Olympic distance tri and today I volunteered for a sprint tri. It's my turn to race tomorrow, I'll be running my third HM this year then three weeks later I'll be doing my first official tri. Good luck to everyone racing this weekend or hope training is going well.

Oh yeah, I have 3 different beer options to celebrate with. I have a Stone 17th Anniversary Götterdämmerung IPA ABV 9.7% IBUs: 102, a Stone Collaboration R&R coconut IPA ABV 7.7% and a Stone collaboration STONE FARKING WHEATON W00TSTOUT ABV13%. Don't know which one i'm going to celebrate with, perhaps all three. FYI- they're 22 oz bottles

That's a conundrum. which one to choose. I've had neither, but am jealous. Please report the results of your tastings. (I'd go with at least 2. Have a friend over and try all 3!)

Nice work on the HM's, Congrats on the first tri, You'll do great.

I am seriously considering skipping my race in September. Not because of injury or fitness issue but due to SHARKS! 2 weeks ago someone was bitten by one just a few miles from the swim location then a few days ago a bull shark washed up on shore. If you think I am being paranoid just take a peek at the photo

Went to a minor league baseball game last night and they had a beer tasting of 30 craft beers for 2 hours before the game. Wicked fun and now I can appreciate the IPA craze. Never knew I liked them until last night. Good thing I had the full game to sober up some before driving home, lol.

IPA's are where it's at.

Yea, I'd skip the swim too. That's a pretty big fish!

Got up to go to gym at 7:00, and it doesn't open till 9:00 on Sunday. Came home and went on a 4.6 mile run instead. Beautiful Sunday Morning. Bar B Que at friends house tonight. He's a wicked brewmaster of fine Imperial IPA's. Looking forward to it.

Nice run Kevin.

Alex, I was telling someone about my fear of things that live in the water at the swim start last weekend and this guy's wife pulls up her shorts and says check out my shark bite! It was a serious bite mark. Nit the confidence booster I was looking for (even if the race was in a lake in Colorado). If you're not feeing it could you email the RD and ask if he would consider a duathlon heat for you and others in your position? That way you could still do 2/3 of the race.

Charles - For some reason - the link for your race report isn't working and I can't access it but congrats on making it happen. Don't worry about finishing too poorly in your age group. Rev 3 races attract some pretty serious athletes including yourself... So if you start bumming out by your finishing position - be sure to put your finishers medal to good use and crack open another beer.

I hear good things about Chicago. A few of my fraternity brothers are doing the race - it should be a good time! Enjoy!

Charles and Bill - Enjoy your malt... I happen to hate Marzen's and Octoberfests (although I respect the process) but I am glad there are some drier and less malty pumpkin beers like shipyard and Pumpkhan by a Wachusetts brewery out here in MA. But unlike some people in the BDAS who will remain nameless even if their first names begin with T and K - I won't put down malty beers or the people that drink them the same way people ridicule those of us with a love for fruit beers.

Kate - great idea about the duathlon suggestion.... Another option is to do the swim anyway. If I knew I was swimming with sharks like that - I guarantee you I'd finish with a PR : )

I'm back! Thanks to all of you for reaching out to me during my 3 weeks of gluttony and sloth. I went out for a run today and it was like starting over. My lungs burned, my legs ached and I could only run a minute or two at a time.... But I got it in... I'm determined as I move forward to do everything I can to avoid injury/ What I really need to do is fall in love with my foam roller - god, I hate that thing.... If I ever fall off the grid like that again - please feel free to stalk me on facebook or better yet come to my house and kick my

I'm at my in laws house in VA and drinking a Schwartz beer from Devil's Backbone Brewing... Not great but it doesn't suck either. Charles - ever tried Schwartz beers - it's the german version of a black lager. Pretty tasty.

I'm gonna post the goal chart for the week in my next post. To keep myself motivated, I'm gonna list a reward and penalty for not following through...

Hope everyone has a great week!
