kns57 - 2007-12-09 12:46 PM Our party went well last night. Lots of toys to drop off at Toys for Tots today. It was so hot here last night half the party was outside on the deck. No fire in the fireplace and I actually turned the airconditioner on in the house. It's December for goodness sake. Where is the cold?

Hi Kendra! Glad your party went well

you can have some of my cold - it's only supposed to get up to 18 today!

I guess I'll stay with the warmth. Just after growing up in the north east, I still have trouble adjusting to warm weather at Christmas time.
Kendra - The Jan mentor groups are getting started. Yanti's group is already full. (Beth and Hector took our places. LOL) Cat is thinking about being a mentor, too. Anyway, I thought I'd let you know, in case you were interested in joining a group. There are a few mentors in GA.... And there's one in NC. I'm thinking about joining his group, since he's several hours from here, but at least he's in the state.

I wonder if they need anyone to be a mentor in sassitude or how to accessorize your bike to its fullest potential?  Color schemes for bikes/kits?  I think I'd make a great mentor...  hee hee

You could mentor a PINK team. LOL

kaqphin - 2007-12-08 11:55 PM Is not a good time to tell you Ive just realised Im severly sunburnt from my swim today?
Ouch. Cat, you're fair skinned. You should know about sun block. Take care of yourself girlie!

Im normally really good about sunscreen but it was an overcast day and I just didnt think... I guess because I normally swim in the evening but IVe just woke up and I actually think its worse that yesterday... at least my face has calmed down... nothing a bit of make up cant fix..

But for work... Im gonna be in a long sleeved shirt and trousers today... I do NOT look good...or feel good... if we werent already short staffed i would be calling in with heat stroke I think...

Just got to work out if I can swim today.... I figure the cool water might take some of the sting out of it, esp if I go swimming late evening...

I didnt sleep very well last night..

Take a bath in tea. It helps to take the sting out of the burn.

I guess i better clean all my clothes out of the bath when I get home tonight!

Yeah, or they will all be a yucky brown color.

Youd be a fun mentor!!! Like... totallY!

Yessss!  I can see it now...

Question:  "How often should I swim?"

Answer: "As little as possible.  Also, it depends on how hot your hair looks."

hmm so with my blonde hair that tends to go green in the chlorine... what should i do?

Obviously you need to avoid the pool.  Your other option is to install a saltwater pool in your garden.

See?  I'm sooooooooooooo good at this!

I would love a saltwater pool in my garden. See you would make a great mentor...I still say PINK.

So...my hubby starts a new job tomorrow. They invited him to join them last Friday for the company holiday party (and he went). At the luncheon they announced that everyone gets the whole week of Christmas off. So, he will work for two weeks and immediately get a one week vacation. Bummer that I have to work that week, or at least Wed, THu & Fri. Time to put together a honey do list.

See?  Then you should just stay out of the pool... or move.

Hold on, I'll go sign up right now.  I didn't realize this was my true calling.  Meanwhile, can you imagine some "I take myself way too seriously" triathlete who would sign up for a mentor group with me?  Ohhhh... actually, that might be kind of fun in my evil twisted way... hee hee.

My mentor from last year came off of a year of no racing due to baby. She was getting herself back into shape and I think that being our mentor helped get her focused. So, you may seriously want to think about it. Or as NIKE says...Just Do It!

She is now signed up for IMCdA for next year.

Happy packing, Kristen!
Cat, that is awful. Can you roll in aloe vera?

I had my bike ride today. It was NOT in the 70 degree sunshine. It was in the lower 60's in pouring-down rain. Quite the adventure.

I'll have to check the mentor threads. I was thinking about becoming a mentor, too. But maybe I'll just stick with being a mentee.

Well gee. If you'd been on the mentor list, I'd have signed up with you.

I signed up with Medic/Eric. He's in Charlotte NC. About time I met some of the NC crowd.

It was raining there? Hm. Was overcast here, but about 68 F.

enders_shadow - 2007-12-08 8:37 Crab cake app, hangar steak and pomme frites, and then gingerbread cake w/ eggnog icecream for dessert. OMG...everything was tasty except the crab cake, but that's just 'cause I'm spoiled. The dessert was DIVINE.

That sounds fabulous... where did you go (mostly I want the dessert)... it sounds like Rathbun's. I'm hoping it's not... because that would reveal just what a ridiculous foody I am . Also, I have learned never, ever order crabcakes in any states other than Maryland and Virginia. I just make my own now.

Your avatar change threw me for a second.... No pink sneakers? No tiara?

However, a pink tree - yeah, I can see the connection. I'll assume there's a tiara at the top of it.

HI TWISNIBBLES!

Man, I've missed you all. Sweet to read the lovely chatter. Always feels like home in here -- put yer dogs up, crack a beer (or soda), and aaaaaaaaaaah.

Yeah, mentor groups--y'all should Jello-wrestle Hector and Beth for their places in our group (ha ha! okay, that was just a mental image for my own amusement, pardon me). I did let two people squeeze in who PMed me within minutes of my closing it, with truly heart-rending sob stories and pledges of allegiance. And this had nothing to do with me--they knew OTHER people in the group! Pfffft!

By all means open your own, or if you really would rather be a mentee, Bajapat's got a group open--he's a lot hotter than I am, and a killer athlete (busy killing Cat when she's not busy killing herself to kill him ), a sweetheart, with an open group.

I didn't see Pat on the list.

Was looking for a hardcore swim group, actually. Didn't see one listed.

So I went "local."

Yessss! I can see it now...

Question: "How often should I swim?"

Answer: "As little as possible. Also, it depends on how hot your hair looks."

hmm so with my blonde hair that tends to go green in the chlorine... what should i do?

Some options for you:

1) Shave it off.
2) Use a clarifying shampoo. (These often contain a small amount of citric acid.)
2) Mix some shampoo with a SMALL amount of vinegar or lemon juice. Vinegar and lemon juice are acidic, which should strip the chlorine out of your hair. (If you use too much vinegar though, you will smell like a salad. )

Oh, I'm assuming you don't color your hair. If there's color in it, the acids will remove the color along with the chlorine.

Yes, yes of course there's a tiara on top of it.  It is my festive holiday av... cause nothing says festivus like a pink Christmas tree in the water...

Incidentally, when I was searching for "pink Christmas trees" an alarming number of images popped up.

Subject: RE: They Who Shall Not Be Named (Twisnibbins) VII
I co-mentored last time with a person who has raced more than me (she was my mentor for the 1st go-round)...we are in the same boat (married, kids, jobs, limited training, etc.) so we thought we'd do OK...

However, I am a bad mentor. I have the attention span of a flea on a ferret. I am irresponsible. I left my mentees hanging and I feel darn guilty about it. (I only still follow up on one of them, but a few others ones are still on the BT boards, so I am a bad mentor.)

That is all.

Actually, I lied...I was thinking of signing up as a mentee instead - with someone a little more hardcore (and no, Mila - not ADollar - I looked, pondered, and immediately decided, um no.)
