How far did you have to drive to find a sunny hillside for your avatar picture. They don't have too many of those in Seattle. That picture was actually taken from my parents back yard on Labor day weekend 2008. I was installing a Solatube (skylight) with a friend (you've got to do a home improvement project on labor day you know). I am sitting in the attic with my top popping through a hole in the roof. And yes, it was sunny. You have to cherish those sunny days in Seattle. And take lots of pictures so you remember that the sun does shine occasionally in Seattle. I don't need photos....I can show you my collection of sunburn lines. There have been enough times that my shirt slid up and exposed a couple of inches of skin while while digging, planting, weeding, etc. that I have an annoying permanent discoloration on the back of my waist Ahh yes, the little sunshine smile. I remember seeing one on a girl who changed her swimsuit part way through the season to one where the bottom cut a little lower. It looked very painful. Nice tan line then bright red "smile." I bet she wasn't smiling later. |

Yeah, its a fine line between maximizing your training benefits and injury. I think I'm getting a little close to that line. My knees can feel it occasionally after my long runs. Thank goodness for the taper before the race. My focus right now is being consistent and getting ready for a half mary next month. |

My son's blood tests have come back. They're still way above normal but they've come waaay down from what they were Friday. We don't have to take him back in until next week for more blood tests. Continue drinking lots of water, etc. (Big sigh) Things are looking much better. Good to hear! X2 (but I am a few days behind so there may be more to come...?!) |

Dang Jay, you read my mind...I was thinking this earlier...that we hadn't had a QOD in a while! Anyway, I would talk my hubby into getting me a better bike. Don't get me wrong, he got me a pretty nice one but I've already outgrown it and I got it for Christmas '08! Aaaaand, I would have taken some SERIOUS swim/stroke mechanics lessons and maybe I wouldn't be in the boat I am now with my shoulder all jacked up!! Now I feel the need to follow that (slight) bitter comment up with a happy note...considering I am one of those "must have fun, fancy, new toy NOW" type people I have to pat myself on the back for taking it slow with the things I have got. I've managed to slow down and talk to others about things before jumping in and getting anything big(ish). Plus, I wait for a holiday/birthday/anniversary to ask for my latest "must have!" Now that i've written a book, lets see what you all had to say... |

Whenever someone abandons a noodle it drifts into my lane. It is annoying to be swimming along and suddenly have a noodle under your arm.pdbman - 2010-03-15 3:52 PM Just got back from the pool. It was a little frustrating. First I forgot my towel and didn't have time to go back and get it so I choose to make due without it. I even checked my bag before I left to see what I needed, noticed I needed a towel and put everything else in that I needed except for my towel. I had to eat my words for all those times I used to think "How could you forget your towel, swimsuit, etc?" A few things I learned from this. 1-Be patient when people do "stupid" things. You will probably do the same thing at some point. 2-Fleece jackets, do not work work as a substitute for a towel. 3-It takes exactly two paper towels to dry my short hair. I like having short hair. My other frustration had to do with lane etiquette. I won't go into details but I think pools should have a jellyfish lane. I just kept telling myself "This is just practice for a tri when you're having to swim around other people and getting kicked, etc." Self talk doesn't usually work for me. I should have gone to the pool an hour earlier. What did I learn from this? I still need to learn patience. Can they keep the noodles in the jellyfish lane, too? Those of us in the jelly fish lane wouldn't know what that's like! |

He's in the coast guard and is training for the rescue jumper school. I asked him if the school is like the movie "The Guardian" with Ashton Kuchar and Kevin Costner...and he said it's pretty accurate. That's crazy... If you haven't seen the movie...it's quite good...and will make your swimming sessions look like a walk in the park. Ditto!! I LOVE that movie but then again I LOVE Kevin Costner!! (but who doesn't?!) |

That sounds like fun!!!! More details, please!!! I ordered a new bike through my LBS and I have been picking up pieces here and there for the build. Finally brought him the last pieces last night after work (stem, seat post, and rim tape) so it is all set for build up today. Saturday we are doing a maintenance class real quick, putting the chain on, aligning the derailleur, fitting, and riding her for the first time! I cannot wait It is a cross breed bike but one that fits all my crazy desires! Salsa Vaya Hey Bill, is this one of those cyclocross types? My hubby got one and loves it~when he actually decides to ride! (Shhh, don't tell anyone I'm talking smack about the hubby!) |

Figured that the attempt at a run on friday that stunk was the start of it and it just got worse. I flew home yesterday and it was all I could do to breath by the time I got to my gate and today isn't much better since getting groceries this morning was a workout. I am going to ask Dee if I can alter my run/bike goal - I should be able to do abs/stretching but I am not going to push the run/bike. Sorry guys - Stacie No need to be sorry, Stacie! That damn bug has hit just about everyone!! Hope you are feeling better!!!! |

You don't need a code...you can shrink it using paint (although I have issues getting it small enough for an avatar using that) or you can use a site like this one! |
