wgraves7582 - 2010-04-14 8:23 AM Morning everyone - back from KC and while I was gone for the day it turns out that my father is going to be admitted to a local nursing home for some respit care due to some health concerns from his parkinsons.  He has lived with us for 4 years now.  Basically my wife was the bearer of all the news since I was gone and I have to give kudos when deserved - she did a great job handling it all.  I spoke to the doctor (a friend) last night as my only part in the process.  We are waiting to hear back from the insurance company to determine which action to take and when it will happen.

Could be today - could be next week.  Guess our God knows a lot more than I do - LOL.  I asked for clarity on the TransIowa withdrawal and this wipes the fog away pretty quickly if I do say so myself.

I will be around - not totally with it yet - 5 hours of sleep with 20 hours of travel will do that to Bill (me not the other one - LOL).

Hope you all had a great day yesterday - our weather is beyond words.  Time for a bike ride tonight - in the dirt!!!

Oh wow!  Sorry to hear about your dad Bill!  I'll be thinking of you and your fam.

G'morning A-Team!

I'm trying to get more in the habit of working out in the morning so that in the summer when I'm training for my HIM, 2-a-days are more manageable.  So in that vein, I got up this morning and did a trainer ride.  It was only supposed to be 30-45 min, but I popped in the pilot for Firefly, and before I knew it, I was an hour into the show and running late for work.  Ooops.

Up for tonight is a quick lifting session with my lifting buddy, then probably a lot of foam rolling and stretching.

About to head out for a run...need to get in my workout early, because I'll have no lunch break today.  We have to do an afternoon presentation, and there's going to be food and drinks afterward.  I have masters class tonight...so somehow I'm going to have to sneak out when all the "fun" starts.

Well, I got in some great exercise at lunchtime... no swimming, biking or running.  I got talked into a game of racquetball and it was a lot of fun and a great workout.  Gotta mix it up once in a while, right?

tri808 - 2010-04-13 7:38 PM Just finished my ride.  It wasn't as windy this afternoon but it sure was cold...so however I was able to truck along much faster.  Didn't have to shift down into the small chain ring into the wind...

Nice but you forgot to throw in how cold it was...couldn't you have backed me at least a little on the cold thing!?

Even if I did back you up...and I will admit...it is a little cooler than the past few weeks...we get no sympathy from anyone else.

Yeah *hangs head* I guess you're right!

I was supposed to do a tempo run this morn but when I woke up my hips were killing me. I've been putting off going to the chiro for another week (to get one in just before moving) but obviously my body is telling me otherwise. Sooo, I am trying to get an appt then hope to make up the run this afternoon but if not, then today will be my rest day!

rnihill - 2010-04-14 7:08 AM I totally scrapped my workout yesterday.  I have been feeling so run down lately that I decided to go to bed early instead.  I then had the most bizarre dreams last night that I didn't sleep well anyway.  Well, the whole trying to sleep thing was worth a shot!

So today, I have lots to do.  I'm going to get my swim in this afternoon.  We have my daughter's first soccer practice tonight which will be fun (hopefully).  Tonight, I'll get on the trainer .  I still have to make up the run from yesterday at some point...  but I'm trying to be realistic about how much I can actually do in one day!

Thankfully, we are picking up our other car from the shop tomorrow so I won't have to continue driving my husband around anymore!  I've had enough of the "backseat driving".  Wink

Relax... missing one workout will not kill you!  Why is it alway easier to give this advice than acutally listening to it?

The nice Fedex man came with presents for me yesterday.  I got my race wheels back from the builder and not a second too soon.  I have a race on Saturday morning.  They are nice and light by MTB standards: 1495 grams.  DT240 hubs with ceramics, star ratchet upgrade, aerolite spokes, and DT XR 400 hoops.  Oh, so nice!  Just don't tell my wife

I had to do my stress EKG for work this morning.  According to the cardiologist, I had significant improvement over my previous test two years ago.  Its nice to get concrete evidence that your training is paying off!

Got a swim in today!  Soccer practice went....  ok.  Finally have the kids fed, bathed and in bed.  Still trying to sort out the backpack and get it ready for tomorrow.  Need to change the laundry and get the garbage out.  Then on the trainer for me!  I'm ignoring the fact that it is already 9:30...  and that the bottle of wine on the counter is calling to me.  Wink

Sounds like fun!!  This winter I went cross-country skiing for the first time, and got some pretty good workouts in doing that!  It's good to dabble in other sports!  (Though I think as triathletes, we already tend to be better at cross training that purist runners/cyclists/swimmers!)
