Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Also.... I just went and drove the bike course for my 2nd sprint (6/20). My plans have changed so much from when I started training. It's a sprint! My plan, NOW, is to HAMMER the bike leg and hang on for the run. My thinking is....it's only a 5K. I would have NEVER said that even a month ago. But, my bricks have been fine. My 4-5.5mi. runs have been "good" (relative). When I say HAMMER the bike leg, I mean go out 100%. I "think" I can hang on for the run. When I look at the diff. between (in time) 16mph and 19-20mph), "time is time". If I'm a little slower on the run, due to hammering the bike.....so what? OK....my 1st tri is in 2 weeks (to the day). I plan the same approach in it. Would it be a good idea to go out next weekend and do a run-through (hammer the bike route / run a couple miles)? I'm hoping my training to date will allow me to do this without too much risk of injury. I mean....what's a week? If I plan on doing it on 6/5.....I should be ready to do it on the weekend prior....right? Thanks! jeff |

It's a '10, but same colors as the '07. Different fork I think, but I love the bike...really. I only have about 200 miles on it so far as I am having saddle issues, but overall, it's a fast and comfortable bike. |

If you think about it, it's more like 85-90. I just wanted to make sure you aren't just out of the saddle sprinting your face off right out of T1 like a madman!!! hehe |

![]() Jeff...for a sprint...it's more like 90% effort. You still hammer...but not to the point where when you dismount the bike, you feel like you want to lay down. I have the 2007 P2C...I posted a picture in this thread...I'll try to recall the page number. The fork is different, but the frame is essentially the same. |

![]() Jeff...go back to page 34 of this thread to see what my 2007 P2C looks like. I believe the 2008 was and 2009 had a blue/gray and red/gray color scheme. The 2010 has the red/white color scheme. My 2007 has the blue/black color scheme. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() My first OWS was okay. I jumped in from ta dock and had a bit of a shock but it wasn't to bad. What was bad was as I started to swim and water began to fill the air bubble in the small of my back.....That was the BAD part. I swam an estimated 550 yards in around 10 minutes but I wasn't really checking close on the time. I just know about when I got in the water and about when I got out. There were a couple of times when I had to stop and try to catch my breath but I think it was because I was trying to push my pace a bunch to get my body warm. The pond was a kidney shape of about 3/4 of an acre so I had to constantly sight, which gave me some real practical experience. In hindsight I wish I had switched directions on one of the other laps so I could breath from the left side more. It was pretty cold but I thought it was really good experience for me and, more importantly, it gave me some good perspective before my first cold water race. I plan another OWS next Saturday and I will probably add more distance. |

Expert![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() jgerbodegrant - 2010-05-22 5:21 PM New wheels came.... ![]() Beautiful Bike! I went to Canada last night with my best friend, his dad, and his cousin(his cousin is 40something, not sure how that works). It was pretty fun. We went to Caesars. I only had one beer, but hey, I don't like the taste of beer yet. I hung out at the slots and stretched a $20 for several hours. At one point I was down to $6 and then got back up to $30 all on the slots. Before we left I blew $20 on the $1 slots just for the fun of it. All in all, I lost $10. I just did a very easy 34mile ride earlier in the humid weather. My bike got all nasty but it was due for a cleaning. I washed it outside and then cleaned the drivetrain with a ParkTool chain scrubber and some Nashbar degreaser. The combo did a better job than I have ever done on my own in a mere fraction of the time. |

I did my first race with my roadie with aero bars and finished relatively high in the bike split. It's not really a night and day comparison as far as your time...but it feels super cool to be on a nice TT bike. |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Thanks guys...I'm wicked pumped. Hopefully I can do her justice on the road. I'm not sure how much I'll actually train on the wheels though. I just want to get a good feel for how they act in the wind and I'll be good to go. I do like the way they make a woosh, woosh, woosh noise at slow speeds! I went and got the new seat, so I have to try that out for a good ride also. My fitter inverted my stem to get some pressure off the front of my saddle for now also. I'm a little less aero, but much more comfortable. I guess once I get used to it, I can start moving it down a bit at a time. I'm glad to see others are getting out there in the freezing water as well. This passed Thursday was the coldest swim I've ever done. I wish I new what the temp was....my face was in a ton of pain for a few minutes. Edited by jgerbodegrant 2010-05-22 9:34 PM |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Shame, shame, shame...I have officially had the laziest week ever since starting training. And I was doing such a good job on coloring in all those boxes on my training log ![]() Well, its ok, because I'll be able to step up my training big time in June. I teach, so I only have 1.5 weeks left of school. Right now, I do not attempt AM workouts because I have to start getting ready at 5:30am (I have to get all the kids up, dressed, fed, etc before dropping them off at daycare and getting myself to work by 7am). The thought of trying to workout before this overwhelms me (maybe someday I'll be this hardcore-who knows you guys are inspiring me). Anyhow, now that work will be out of my way, I can still wake up at 5:30am and train instead ![]() My friend Jamie, who is training for the HM with me, has promised to run with me at this time 3xs a week. So this will be a good way to force me out of bed knowing someone is waiting on me. Also, I found a masters swim group in my area that does OWS on Saturdays, as well as pool swims during the week. Some of the BT members on the NV page recommended it, said a lot of people bring their bikes and ride afterwards. Sounds perfect. I found 2 good teenage babysitters, so hopefully I can make it to the gym or get in some afternoon bike rides too. I'm going on a group bike ride tomorrow and am suppose to meet a fellow BT member. We both did our 1st tris last weekend. We read eachother's race reports. Turns out we finished the course around that same time. She was 8 minutes faster than me (all on the bike- I guess it really is about the bike). So that should be cool. |

![]() Just finished my 40k TT. I'll post a short RR when I get the official results, but it was a good race effort. Weather was horrible...high winds and rain. It was actually a bit scary at times. I think I left a little in the tank in the middle of the race, but I finished strong. At about mile 21 I did reach "slobberknocking" effort. I had to spit, literally TRIED to turn my head, but ended up spitting right over my front wheel. Luckily we had a tail wind at the end so it didn't come back into my face. I think I finisehd around 1:10...which confirms my belief that my 40k TT during my Oly was short...since I did that in 1:07. Anyway...another sucessful race for me. |

![]() Since I got my TT bike about a month ago...when riding in rain, I would get a squeeking sound from my rear wheel. I realized it was because I got new tires on my TT bike, and any debris that got stuck to the wheel when the tire was wet would rub against the rear wheel cutout. There was only about 1-2 mm of clearance. So before my TT today, I knew it would rain and it would be a problem. Someone mentioned to me that there is a spacer you can adjust where the skewer sits to adjust how close the wheel gets to the cutout. When I checked it this morning, it was actually a screw. So I just slightly loosedned the screw about 1 turn, and that solved the problem giving me an extra 1mm or so of clearance. However, is there a spacer or washer that I'm supposed to buy so I can tighten the screw back and still leave the proper clearance between the tire and the cutout. I imagine it's not a good idea to ride all the time with the screw semi loose. There already was a rubber spacer between the screw and the frame...so I assume I need a slightly bigger spacer? The screw isn't really loose...you still need a screwdriver to move it. |

It seems like you might not have to worry about it while you are riding because your skewer should be clamped tightly in place up against it. I'm not exactly sure though. I've never tampered with those adjustments. |
