disturbed275 - 2010-09-21 2:58 PM Wowza!  What an exhausting day of work.  I should have followed Bill's lead and taken it off

Same here.

I spent yesterday working on a manual review of 524 items on my computer. My computer was SUPPOSED to be excluded from forced reboots last night. I came in this morning and my machine had been rebooted overnight, so I had to start all over again today. What a waste of time, and my patience.

Works for me. I'll grab some pizza and wings on my way there. Do you want to get the onion rings?

Not much this afternoon. Did a bit of *work* this morning, researching what I need to do to set up a LLC. Then ran. Now I am bored.

A well-deserved nothing. You put it all out there.  Are you going to frame your finisher's medal? When you get around to taking it off, I mean.

wgraves7582 - 2010-09-21 4:21 PM Howdy Ghoulies - I must say that aquajogging (so far) is not nearly as torturous as last year at this time.

I wonder if somehow I have just resigned myself to the thinking that it is the only way I will ever truly "jog" again and last year I was determined to defeat this stupid thing.

Either way time to invest in a Waterproof case for my IPod so I can enjoy music while running in water.  And you should see how fast I am - LOL

Hi Most. So it's back to aqua-joggin is it? Definitely worth a case if you're going to be in there on a regular basis.

BTW, if you think you are fast.........a cop flashed his lights at me today. I'm pretty sure it was just a warning. Actually, I think he'd passed me a couple times previously and felt sorry for how slow I was trudging along.

*sigh

Looks like I have missed everyone

I went for my 5k because we finished the small group early....then I socialised for a bit after my run...now I am chilling with articles on whether low fat or low carb diets are best...we have a group nutrition assignment to answer this question...

2nd year is so much more intense than first so far...

I can answer - neither - eating a balanced diet is the best way to have a healthy lifestyle!  but if I were to lean one way or the other it would be low carb.

Hope that helps Melindy

Problem with low carb is that there are metabolic disturbances...so sure you will lose weight, but you might end up with some unexpected metabolic effects and crappy other side effects. Metabolic consequences like elevated LDL...no studies have been completed to actually determine if serious end point events (MI's, stroke, etc) exist as a result of low carb diets....but hyperlipidemia and MI/stroke are highly related...so ya...

I do agree with you...but people don't like balanced lifestyle approach...haha...

Now I am investigating for my case...looks like acute liver failure due to acetominophen ingestion plus chronic alcoholism...

Look at all the stuff I am learning...

chronic alcohol intake + large quantities of tylenol = bad news bears...

Also...obesity...non-alcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH)...new epidemic cause of liver failure and will soon be #1 reason for liver transplant. NASH=bad news bears. (BNB)

We had a discussion today if they will have to impose requirements on people requiring liver transplant due to NASH. Kind of like how they require that alcoholics stop drinking for 6mo. before they are put on the list...so should obese individuals requiring liver transplant be required to furfill requirements of a "healthy livestyle" (ie. 10% body fat loss) before they are put on the list? Our preceptor's husband is a pediatric surgeon and he had to remove a 14yr old girl's gallbladder last week due to gallstones...her BMI was 37 and they did a liver biopsy and she already exhibits grade 1 inflammation in her liver...they figure if she stays on this course that she will require a new liver before she is 25....

My sprint  tri last Saturday went okay.  It was a small one put on by Parks & Rec, but it was nicely done.  The weather turned out nice.  Sunny for the swim, and had clouded over by the run but no rain, no wind.  Since it had rained for several days leading up to it, and then started raining again Saturday night, the break was quite welcome.

This was my first OWS tri.  The swim went pretty well.  The water was very pleasant temperature. a little faster than I had estimated so I was pleased with that!

The bike had 2% & 3% grade hills that I was not expecting!  Had to walk the bike near the top of a few.  Crud. But the downhill was straight so I could let it fly! (well at least fly for me, I think my max was 33 mph).  The bike was a little slower than I wanted but I was not prepared at all for those hills.

The run (jog) was not what I had wanted.  The bike hills had beat me up, so my jog pace was about 30 seconds/mile slower than I had planned.  Oh well.

My total time wound up being about what I had estimated overall.  What is funny is that I won a medal.  1st in my AG --  of course I was the only female over 50, so I was the only one in my AG --  LOL    lots of fun anyway and very nice people!

My next event is a 10K on October 3rd.  They close one lane of a bridge over the mouth of the Columbia river.  We go from Washington state across the bridge to Oregon state.

The bridge is 4.1 miles long, the total race is 6.2 miles.  Most of the bridge is flat and just above the water.  The last 1/2 mile or so rises 200 ft up so ships can pass underneath.  That should be interesting!

I understand that wind is a definite there at the mouth of the Columbia.  We will see if it rains, too!
