I could leave early or finally do something to waste time - like BT or TAN... oh, wait.... GO HOME!!! Run! I just got my cholesterol test numbers back and .... they went from 305 to 130 in one month on medication. So you're saying its works! Awesome for you. Now celebrate and have some Twinkies. Woo Hoo! No. No. Unfortunately my cholesterol woes come from the genes of those before me and no amount of good eating and exercise bring the LDL number down. (the HDL and TRig # are superb) I've tried. I wish to be off the meds as I hate what they do to me .... but I don't think I have a choice. You don't have a choice. Diet and exercise can only drop it 20%. Everything else is your liver in action. So that 305 could only theoretically drop to 241 unless you're taking a statin. Congrats on the numbers. I was 260 unmediated and am at 140 with Lipitor. Watch for the muscle aches and get your blood drawn every 6 months to be sure your liver functions are OK. I surely do miss grapefruit though . I'm on Crestor. Hate it. I am tired and achy all the time. I just had my first test yesterday ... and the next in 6 months. Mine went from 105 to 295 in 9 months eating healthy and exercising. Then I even ate MORE healthy and exercised MORE for 6 months and it went from 295 to 305. That was a month ago. So yes. I am stuck with it for now .. or forever. Just don't like taking medication of any kind. Getting old blows!!!
Not all statins are created equal. Socorro and Lipitor seem to have a good safety profile. Keep on it and try to communicate firmly with your doc. You can get it balanced. I'm taking way too many meds, but it's working. I attribute it to a half century of bipedal locomotion on this celestial body. |
