Latest update I've seen in that thread is Steve at 41 miles; best BT'er at 50 miles. I suspect Steve is going to have a heck of a race report when this one is over! Keep going Steve!

He's through 50 miles and his pace is a tiny bit shy of 20 MPH. the portion at around mile 42 must have been up a cliff as his pace was only 5 mph (or the tracking was wrong). His pace on the bike is ahead of what he said he planned, I think. I'm assuming the calf muscle is feeling good. Keep it up Steve!!

I bet it was a nasty hill. His pace is awesome. The temp would be a challenge. I hope he is warming up.

Looked up the course - its an insane 2.1 mile hill. Pros were single digit pace as well.

31 degrees at race start, so I read. Also snowed. Bike has to be ridiculously cold.

Yeah, Steve!!

Based on the first 72 miles, I'm figuring a 6:30-6:45 bike, which I think was in line with what he was thinking. Is my math right?

I'm thinking of 3 HIMs next year !

BTW -- the killer hill on the split is over 900 feet of gain in 2 miles. Brutal. steve spent 1/2 hour on this on the second lap of the course. I'm sure the work on the "hill of pain" helped. Hope the calf is still feeling fine for him. Bike time may be a bit longer than expected, but he has plenty of time to get the run done. He'll have over 7 hours to go, I think.

Go Steve!!!!!

Steve is off the bike -- split was 8:05 which is longer than he was thinking, but maybe some mechanical issues? Race time at about 9:30 at the moment, so he has 7+ hours to finish. Go get 'em Steve!

Keeping up with Steve is bringing back memories for me. So fun! He's done with the bike. 8:05:07. Must've been a killer. He should beat my time no problem and hit his target finish time if he maintains a solid run pace. Great job so far Steve.

Looking at the 'new' display, it shows Steve finished the bike nearly 40 minutes ago, but no T2 or 1st run split has shown yet. I'm thinking the WTC update feed has pooped out and we're not getting updates. I'm crossing all fingers, toes, eyes, whatever that he is doing well and out there making tracks for the finish.

The Tri talk section is showing the same thing for all the BT'ers...everyone is assuming there's an issue with the timing mats. Bad for us tracking. To Elena's question about this motivating us for next year...I still have a game plan. I need to finish a HIM before I consider an IM.....I want to have confidence in doing each distance and increase smartly...make triathlon a lifestyle as Steve would say.

Pam, if you're right about midnight, I should be home from work by then and able to see Steve cross the finish line...no pink pom poms for me though

Yea, tracking is of but Yay, he's 5.7 into the run.
Run 2 5.7 miles 10:48:57 113:51/mile 10:48:57 1285 1032 176 17:37:57

Ok, maybe about 12:30 so Jay you'll be home, right? You don't have to have pink poms poms. Any color will do. You can even shake manly blue pom poms if you want.

Wow, that bike had to have been brutal! Reading elsewhere about lots of folks not making the bike cutoffs. So glad to see Steve on the run. Dig deep Steve!!!!

The tracking on this IM is so different than Samantha's. I could watch a streaming video of the finishers when I watched her but I've only got time splits for Steve As Jim said above, you're almost there Steve...one foot in front of the other!
