I second this. You guys have really been amazing - not just in giving me motivation to get the shoes on and get out for my runs, but for just being a great group of truly good people. I love hanging out in the Village and I'm looking forward to many more months of Ghoulishness to come.

OK Ghoulies, now that I'm all caught up it's time to put down my brand new wireless connection (early present!) and get back to prepping the house for Santa's arrival. There's stockings to hang, rooms to clean, cookies to bake, and tempo runs to bang out. Merry Christmas Eve to all of you and your families!

Thank you if I wouldn't have cheated I would still be wrapping them then. I called my brother this afternoon and he came over and did it. I got them boxed or whatever they needed and he wrapped them. He is better at it than I am, and much faster. Now it's just wait for the kids to fall asleep then put the gifts under the tree.

I wish I had siblings or inlaws close enough to do that. What a deal!!! I'll be wrapping tonight, probably way past when I want to go to bed, but that's OK. The good news is that Santa's cookies are made, the shopping is all done, the kids have been fed and watered, and I even got a tempo run in today.

I hope everyone's having a nice Christmas Eve so far. Anyone else reading "The Night Before Christmas" to their kids tonight?

Good morning Ghoulies! I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas. We had a very nice, quiet day here which is about all I could have asked for

The only thing missing was a decent sized tree since we missed all the good fake ones at last year's clearance sales and our cats are allergic to real ones. So, I fixed that this morning by getting up and out of the house by 6:00 to pick up a nice tree at Home Depot. I really like it, but it's just too bad it'll have to sit in it's box for the next 11 months. Oh well, at least I got it!

A nice little added bonus was the sunrise today - absolutely stunning altocumulus glowing pink and orange over the "mountains" to the east with purple stratocumulus scudding along several thousand feet below. (sorry for the technical terms - I used to be a weather-man by trade) another great thing was the contrast between the clouds and sky made it the sky look like the color of the Caribbean. I only wish that I had taken my camera with me.

I think the rest of the day will be pretty quiet here. I have a 5 miler today, which I hope goes better than my 5 miler from Thursday(need to work off the cookies and egg nog). I also need to do some battery shopping, but I'm in no big rush there. Have a nice weekend out there everyone...

im completely serious ANN.  and when i set an intention, its set.

two things emerging here (well three, but im not free to share the third, just yet....)

ONE.  i believe that doin' an 1/2 IM will be as much a spiritual journey as anything else.  a VISIONQUEST if you will.  minus the hallucinogenics and sweat lodge.

TWO.  i've always believed that i would go to China at some point in my journey, again for spiritual reasons.

VOILA.

THE TWO HAVE EMERGED in a way that im not sure i can/anyone can deny.

[i didnt even know theres was IM China until it popped up on my FB, right after, and i kid you know, right after my morning meditation....think someone/something is trying to get my attention.  call me whack.  but the signs are never lost on me]

the other thing in the mix.  i have a friend who lives on the mainland, and he has on more than one occassion invited me to come to visit.  he actually built a home that he uses to host visitors.  you should see the place.  uber zen!  it even made it into China's version of architectural digest.  schweet digs.

though i KNOW i WONT be able to stay there during the IM itself, im trying to get the lay of the land/geography down, and i sent a FB msg to my friend today, hopefully the govnt hasnt shut it down, im not sure if its even feasible since he's MUCH MORE inland than where the IM is being held.

but if theres any chance...i would LOVE to spend a few days in his neck of the woods...either before (probably before) or after....

were talking 2012.  so lots of time to prepare, plan and FREEEEAAAAAAAKKKKKKKKK OUT!

SOME EPIC ADVENTURE its gonna be, nodoubtaboutit.

Guess what I got for Christmas???? A garmin. Yay!! I got the forerunner 405. I had asked for the 305 after hearing some negative reviews of the 405. Any thoughts from the village? Should I keep the 405 or return it and get the 305 (not the 310)?

ive heard the same thing among my friends that the 305 is actually easier to operate ie less buttons to push for functions, easier to read, et al.

not enough of my friends have the 310 (yet) so i havent heard anyone make any comparisions of those two yet.

id say go w what works for you......

the latest isnt necessarily the greatest.

I am good running 1-1.5 miles anything over that the leg acts up.

Maybe I should become a 1 mile specialist

Sorry to hear about the leg.  Hopefully the doc can get you set up with a program.
