Hey Angie, good to see you back and training. Life/works has a nagging way of getting in the way of training. No worries.

Much to do today! I am having breakfast with a friend then off to the gym for PT exercises and an arc trainer workout. Then meeting a friend to swim. Yesterday I was MISERABLE with "pool nose". Running and sneezing all day. Last night I drugged myself with some Nyquil just so I could sleep. Worked wonders. I swim in 2 pools, one seems to make it worse.If anyone has a miracle cure for this issue (other than NOT swimming) PLEASE let me know!

Hullo all. I am in my usual post night shift funk. 
Hope everyone is doing well and right on track.

What does everyone have planned for the weekend?
I am going to"try" and make it to 0630 am long course Masters tomorrow morning.......but its a stretch who am I kidding?

 RE the pool nose......Kevin you are RIGHT about the bike ride. I went for a cold ride AFTER swimming on Wednesday and did not have any of the usual nose symptoms after. Weird. Otherwise I am a mess for a full 12 -24 hours after I swim. I have tried using  a Neti pot after I swim....but I am not sure if it helpd really...

Have a 5k tonight at 7pm - weather permitting.  Its pouring rain right now and there were tornadoes about 20 miles from here closer to Tampa.  Its starting to clear up some now
20 miles or so on the bike tomorrow am and then its family time - maybe a run with my wife on Sunday

YIKES.... tornadoes are bad... stay away from the tornadoes. (although a good stiff tailwind will sure to net you a PB ).

No tailwind tonight!  The weather cleared up about 5pm and the start was dry, but soggy.   5 minutes in the sky opened up and it started POURING sideways rain!!  I was still feeling pretty good and was on my goal pace, 6:40 at mile one and 13:39 at mile two.  Then we rounded the backside of the lake and were treated to a 20-25mph wind and rain dead in our faces.   Finished at 21:45, which I'm pleased with considering the weather and the fact its my frist 5k in many months. 
The rain stopped at the finish so my wife and kids were able to join the fun.   Free Starbucks coffee, chili, gatorade, chocolate chip cookies and bananas for dinner!!

i too am among those who is getting kicked by work lately.  data collection for an undergrad research project has been occupying my time this week.  day 2 out of 3. we go from 8 - 8.  it's has been long and tiring for all. woohoo....last day tomorrow

i moved to a state that is considered a major part of tornado alley.... they freak me out. i didn't think it would bother me having grown up in IA.  but, crap that was nothing....  have fun with all that!!

Thanks Mav - Missed 3rd in my age group by 10 secs (these are just the top 5) and came in 27th out of 396 runners.   My new goal between now and the end of the Summer is a sub 20 minute 5k.  I'm doing the Watermelon Series over the Summer which is 4 5k races over a 6 week period - same course each time.  It should be a good opportunity to make it -
BTW - whats everyone got on tap for the Superbowl??  Any football fans in the group?  I like to stay home with the family, grill some good food, throw back a few cocktails and relax. 

Fantastic Run Mike!!!!  I'll be making so white chicken chili and heading to friends house with the family for Super Bowl Sunday. 

Great day of snowboarding yesterday. 

I went to yoga on Thursday.  We did a partner back bend stretch that felt wonderful.  I need to commit to yoga at least once a week.  Taking a rest today.  Planning on a trainer/treadmill brick tomorrow.
