Artemis - 2010-03-18 10:43 AM Now that I'm done talking about my shoes (I can't help it.  So excited!), I should talk about my goals.  I'm great on biking and don't think it will be any problem to make that goal.  Running is going to be a challenge.  I had to bail on the half marathon this weekend.  My patellar tendonitis is still being problematic and A is too busy to drive to Atlanta with me, so we're going to stay home.  I don't know that I'll be able to make my running goal without the half and I know I can't do a half right now.  I'll do the best I can.  Sorry team.

Darn, I would have come out and met you at the finish line.

KOM - 2010-03-18 12:22 PM I got my first 2010 over 20 mile outdoor ride in this morning.  My goal for the month was 3 outdoor rides so I am 2/3 done.  I was conservative on my goal given the weather and other commitments.  I love the new bike.  Still getting used to aero though!

****************20 for 2010 Outdoor ride TOPpage*****************

You are right on target with your outdoor runs for the month.  2/3 of the month done, 2/3 of your goal done.

KOM - 2010-03-18 1:24 PM People coming over is about the only time I clean my house.  It really needs it!

lol....I'm the same way!  I hate cleaning and can think of way better things to do, so I only really do everything when people come over.

I gave up cleaning a couple of years ago.  It kind of lined up with my promotion that I hired a service to come in twice a month.  I feel so spoiled.  I'll hate it if I ever have to go back to cleaning, so I guess I'll just keep working so that they can keep cleaning for me.  LOL

dermoski - 2010-03-18 4:46 PM X2 on the healing Jen.  It does suck to have to miss a race, but your knee will thank you.

Your little toe-shoes remind me of the socks I had when I was a kid with the toes in them.  Mine were multi-colour striped jobbies...I loved them!

Um....I also own those right now.

socks
Good, let's move on to socks from footware.  I have been thinking of getting these because my 1st and 2nd toes rub quite badly. I have a big callous built up and I am not looking forward to sandal season....the black nail from my half on the other side isn't helping either.  Do you like using injinji's?  Why did you get them originally?
I adore mine, although I wish I had the rainbow ones. I originally got them because I was getting blisters on my pinkie toes and blood blisters on my big toes. Switched to injinji's and they cleared up. My only issue is that they seem to make my feet a wee bit wider, so I need a wider toe box. I alternate between injinji and some of those double layer socks. Both kinds are tougher for me to get on than regular socks, so I have some T1 worries. I can't race without socks, don't know how some people manage it.

I love these socks.  i wore them at my last 1/2 mary and did not get a single blister.  It was awesome.

kimk - 2010-03-18 10:01 PM Had a scare yesterday and the school I teach water aerobics at last night. There is a man that doesn't speak very good English and I have a hard time understanding him...well he signed up for lap swimming without knowing how to swim, so I have been working with him after teaching my class, he was working on his kicking but acting very tired. after asking him several times if he was ok and not really getting the response I wanted I called the lifeguard over and we had to help him out of the pool, sat him on the bench and tried to get him to respond to my questions, no verbal response from him, he was always conscious but not really "with it" so I called 911 and when they got there they tested his blood sugars...he was at a 33! Later to find out he is diabetic and after an IV of sugar he came around and had no clue what just happened! It was really scary and I'm glad I took the time to work with him otherwise I might not have noticed he was having problems! They took him to the ER, I hope he is doing better today. I won't see him till Wednesday.

Wow, that is scary.  Lucky for him you were concerned and took action.

ironannekidd - 2010-03-19 6:30 AM I had a bad ride last night bEASTies and I may be done for the month.

Without going into the whole story I'll just say it involved my me, my bike, a Rottweiller, and me crashing.

My hip is bruised and sore. A section of my quad is sore just above my knee, but I'm having a lot of knee pain, sort of inside my knee. I'm going to take the weekend off and rest. If I'm still having a lot of pain on Monday I'm going to call my doctor.

Hope you heal quickly.  Wish people would keep their dogs on leases or behind fences.

billsorg - 2010-03-19 9:23 AM Whew!  All caught up on the thread... that only took an hour or so!  Missed my AM workout again... I was just hoping to do an easy 5k on the treadmill as a final warmup to my race on Sunday.  But alas, the sleep won out over the workout.  My boss is out today, so I'm going to head over to the Y at some point today and get in a little run.  It's very, very nice out, but I think I'm just going to opt for the treadmill to minimize the impact on my legs.

On a lighter, more painful note.  I'm coaching my 9-year-old daugher's softball team and last night was our team's first practice.  I was throwing grounders to the girls and when one of the girls was throwing the ball back to me, got distracted for a moment and took a softball directly to the upper lip.  It wasn't too painful, but it bled a little and instantly became swollen to the point that I looked (and still look) rediculouos -  think Rocky Balboa at the end of every one of his fights.  My daughter said, "Daddy, I hope you're not mad at me." I said, "Honey, why would I be mad at you?  You didn't throw the ball and it was my fault anyway... I wasn't watching where I should have been watching."  She said, "I know... but I just couldn't stop laughing."  I was wondering why she was walking around with her glove over her mouth after it happened.  NICE!

HA HA, you got a fat lip by a 9 year old.  Bet no one believed you at work.

MDHillSlug - 2010-03-19 9:31 PM Just watched "Up in the Air"; what a dark, twisted, cynical story. I loved it!

I enjoyed it, my hubby hated it.  But then again he spent 8 years traveling on the job, so he could relate to it.

Went to The Delaware Running Company yesterday to pick up my packet for tomorrow's race and my-oh-my, what did they have displayed there???  VIBRAM FIVEFINGERS!!!  Guess who bought a pair.

I wore them around all night last night.  I love them!!!  We'll see what they're like to run in over the next few weeks.

Off to my daughter's softball practice, then into Philly to Dave & Busters for her birthday party.  Tomorrow's the half mary... It's going to be an awesome weekend!

KOM - 2010-03-20 7:38 AM Morning team! It is another beautiful sunny day here.  This morning I will "racing" a 5K with 3000+ of my Irish brethren in Providence.  It should be quite a mad house.  In addition to the race, there is a parade after the race (we run on the route before it starts) and the NCAA BBall tourney is in town.  I am thinking the warm-up jog from where ever I park will be longer than the race!  I am planning a PR in fun and games!!!

Hope that you had a great race.
