Master 1887 Brentwood, CA | Subject: RE: brick94513-GoGoGo Mentor Group - Closed For Now! shmeeg - 2010-05-18 11:13 PM Ok, gimme some opinions. There's a guy selling some new FP40s on ST for ~$800. Should I stick w/ my Neuvation plan that will run me about $300 or should I cough up the extra cash for the carbons? That's a pretty serious price cut and I like the fact that they're clinchers and have an aluminum braking surface so I don't have to get new pads either. But what does that additional $500 really get me? http://www.flash-pointracing.com/fp40 or http://www.neuvationcycling.com/product197.html http://www.neuvationcycling.com/product198.html I'm not a physicist, but from what I've read you will benefit more time savings from aerodynamics than wieght. Oh, and I stay at a Holiday Inn last night! The FP40s are criticized for their wieght to aero benefit. They are only 38mm deep and are a little heavy in comparison. But, then there is the bling factor... I like the looks of the FP40s much better! Plus, there carbon. Since you already have a wheelset and are looking for race wheels, I would go with the FP40s. That seems like a good price too. |

If I decided to go to Vegas to do a tri is there someplace I can rent a bike from? Or would I have to pack mine up and put it on the plane? I'm sure there are places to rent. Not sure if I would want to be on a different bike for the race though. There are a couple of options for shipping. You can either box it and take it on the plane or ship it to a bike shop in advance. I have heard it is cheaper to send the bike via UPS or FedEx. Shops have told me it would cost between $60 - $100. Which race? |

Maybe we could even get are Canuck friend to make the trip. Wow, you guys got my interest. I might just have to forego Nationals! Another option, if I end up being able to go, would be to ship the bike to me. I would be driving out there so I could transport for you! |

First, I'll have 2 bikes to transport. (mine and my wifes) Second, we have family there I could ship it to. I'm really up in the air though, the time it takes to get all the ducks in a row and race would take a couple days out of our vacation. I'm not sure how I feel about that yet. It may be better to plan a second weekend trip for something like this. |

It's Sunday, September 26, 2010 @ Lake Mead National Recreation Area near Vegas and there’s a little something for all of us. A quick glance shows no deal breakers for that weekend on the calendar, but it's definately too far out for me to plan for quite yet... On the radar though! I gotta say though, Vegas in September, won't it be like 120 degrees at 9am? |

Jay, I said ONE component! That's easy. P4. The bike is one COMPONENT of all my equipment right? Actually I would buy the most expensive legal wetsuit available. I suck at the swim the most so would probably see a better time reduction by doing so. Edited by shmeeg 2010-05-19 10:42 AM |

About $500 Is it the actual pad thats giving you the trouble or the mount? Do you already have a PD base bar or something integrated? What specifically about the CX3 is it that would make it your choice over a pricier setup? |

It is at Incline Village, the base elevation is roughly 6,500 ft. The event has probably one of the most beautiful bike course around. It follows the historic flume trail then connects into the Tahoe Rim Trail! Too bad the company putting on the race is so ill prepared and poorly organized. I might be boycotting both of the Tahoe XTERRAs. |
