Yanti & Lynn - Are you doing another manatee group in Dec?
Of course I'll stay connected to everyone through this one.  I am not sure if I have quite the experience yet to host my own mentor group but just thought I would ask around   But it could be interesting and entertaining and I would love to do it sometime because everyone here has helped me sooooooo much this year!  It's been amazing and I am looking forward to keeping in touch with all my manatees as we continue on with our journeys (sorry didn't mean to make that sound like goodbye because it's not). Have a good day everyone.

Okay, Ryan. After careful thought and consideration, that's why I hadn't responded to your names yet, I have to like Catherine, only I kinda like it with a K instead. Also like Emily Elizabeth, but isnt' that the girl in the Clifford the big red dog books? Just a thought. I love Sofia as well, ,but I think you have to remember someone will call her Sofie and if you don't like that, well...I remember going through the whole name thing, too. We ruled out so many names because of our history with people who had those names. I've always liked the name Samantha, but I know that's not on your list.

Not sure about mentoring again but Yanti and I can chat about it.

And, I also like happy faces, Carla

Love the marathon to couch plan -- doesn't take much tapering at all and we can all be most proficient at it at will!

Also love the wink emoticons.

Ryan, if you do a mentor group, I can do a guest lecture on the proper execution of a marathon-to-plan.   I bet you'd be good at it.  The mentoring I mean.

And, like Lynn, I have been thinking about the name sitch.  You guys have names similar to the kinds of names we preferred.  Classic, and I think that is a very good thing...just ask anyone named Linda, Jennifer, or Ashley.  One of my main criteria for names was that you not be able to tell what decade, or indeed, century a child was born in.  We also picked names that seemed like "gifts" to our children.  What I mean is, we picked names to give them a connection to their family.  Not exactly naming them after someone, but names that recall their ancestors.  My brother did the same thing...

That being said, my daughter's name is Katherine Louise.  And it's funny, but she has remained a Katherine thus far.  I call her Kitty or Kat or Kitty Lou Whoo sometimes but they are more terms like honey or sweetie, and less an attempt to shorten her name.  She will quickly correct you anyway as she is KATHERINE.  Another thing to consider is how the initials work out...looks like you're headed for a _EB.  WHich is fine.  My cousin has an E.E. name and it is so cool, she gave her daughter an E.E. name as well, so I am a fan.  I am also a fan of the name Emily.

I was on a birthdate club website for a long time...I am still friends with a lot of the Mommies there.  WE migrated over to Facebook but we still enjoy comparing notes and pix and stuff.  So if you can avoid the weird conflicts (some people are needlessly aggressive and emotional about pregnancy management and child rearing...things like genetic testing, natural childbirth, and attachment parenting are hot topics) that tend to crop up on sites like that, it can be a powerful resource and support network.

Carla...Sometimes I feelEmbarassed when I useSmile but they are so useful when you Undecidedwhat to write or want to conveyCryYell or Wink.  So Cool and don't Money mouth it!

Alright, I know there were other things I wanted to share/discuss but I'm off to do day three of P90X.  And it's killing me.  I am SO sore I can barely get out of bed...but there are some things I've already noticed that are really making me feel happy about this project.  I'll share next time.  Happy Thursday Y'all!!!

Is "ry-ry" my new nickname? Or only used when I am in "trouble?'
If I decide to become a mentor (not sure how to start the process) then I would need a partner....just sayin'...

There are SO MANY usual suspects in this group for that.

I think in late November, Ron posts a thread in Tri Talk asking for mentors, and with instructions on how to start a group.

I could maybe possibly be talked into helping do a mentor group.  Can we do Chicago area group with Q as the crazy auntie who drops in every now and then?

Since we're still talking names, I'll go into how/why I decided on the monikers I placed on my kids' heads.  Ellie is short for Elora Kristyl.  I got the first name from the movie Willow which was playing in the background when she was conceived and the Kris-tyl is for her dad Kris-topher.  I loved it so I double checked the meaning and the Greek translation is "pity" while the Arabic is "God is my light".  Both were fitting as the poor child was being born to a couple of stupid 19 year olds.

Then there's Risa Lael.  Risa is the Spanish word for "laughter" although if you look up the name they say it's Japanese and means "sand of the village" but that's only popped up in the last few years.  I was actually looking for a name that meant laughter, if she'd been a boy she would have been Isaac.  Lael means "of God".  I was a 25 year old single mother and I call her biological father the one shot wonder so the whole thing seemed like God's private little joke on me.  Maybe not the best way to pick a baby name but I call her my giggle from heaven.

Finally, poor Bailey.  His name literally means "bailiff" and there's no way to make that any more interesting.  Can you tell this was the first time I had share the baby naming with someone else?  He is named for his paternal grandmother's family and Great-Grandma Bailey cried when she heard which overrides the whole bailiff thing.  His middle name is Michael after his daddy.

A factor that played into the naming of the last two were last names.  Risa was born a Smith which was later changed when the hubs adopted her.  What's sad is that he's a Jones so we went from the most common name in America to the second most common name in America.  It was important that we chose names that weren't too common because it's really hard to have the exact same name as three other kids in your school.  Yes, that happened to my husband and I spent a summer at camp in the same cabin with another Allison M. Smith.

On the plus side, we don't worry about stalkers too much because we're just another needle in the needlestack.

I think RyRy's mentor group sounds like a fun place to be.

It was nearly impossible for my husband and I to agree on girl names.  I think we managed to narrow it down to Hannah Grace...but it was a boy  He's named after his 2 grandfathers, Michael Leamon.  I wanted the middle name to just be Lee, but that is my Dad's middle name and we didn't want them to be the exact same.  I would have gone for a Jr. as well since my husband has a nice name...Daniel Lee.  I couldn't imagine having a girl now that I'm used to a boy (boys are gross).  I just don't think I would know how to raise a girl...and the name Hannah Grace is crazy popular around here.

I'm currently recovering from the marathon to couch program, so I'm on the couch to half program.  It'll be going a little better when I get a new pair of running shoes.  The Brooks are worn completely out!

Thanks Carla...I'll try to make it as fun as possible if I am chosen to be a mentor (if I decide to do it too that is).
You all have helped me so much and I like helping people and want to give back. I feel as though my financial job helps no one so why not help some new BTers. Plus with a new baby coming in March, my spring training might slack quite a bit.  Even though my wife really wants to be do the OH race again in August next year (will be 3rd yr in a row there). I might even talk her into doing one while the parents watch the baby

And thanks everyone for your name inputs.  It is much appreciated.  Some of it might be a little too detailed...Allison and the movie Willow   I kid Allison I kid.  It seems as though sometimes there is logic to naming and sometimes a name just comes to you or from ancestors (why we are probably using Elizabeth as a middle name) and sometimes from movies playing in the background.  In my head I have it narrowed down to 4 choices now. But this morning DW texted me a new one and I like it.  Grrrrr haha

Nothing is set in stone until it's on the birth announcements (the birth certificate may be official but no one ever sees it so you can call the kid whatever you want).  I almost changed Ellie's name to Becky in the hospital because I swore she looked like a Becky through my postpartum tears.

Very true!  Someone else also told me to wait because if you pick a name too early you will probably continuously change your mind until the birth.
Now how to persuade you to join me as a team mentor group....

Crazy Auntie!  We haven't spent that much time together...how do you know me so well?

I am envisioning a guest rant, 1x a week.  Sort of Andy Rooney meets Triathlon.

Yes, Paige Elizabeth is really a beautiful name. We considered Paige had we had a girl, but it would have been difficult to pronounce with our last name.

Paige is really nice.  Not too common but not unusual or "weird".  Plus, then the initials are PEB so until she's born you can refer to her as Pebbles which could end up being a cute family nickname.

Q, you and your husband dress up as Hooters Girls to race.  You're OBVIOUSLY the crazy aunt.  Of course that opens the debate about who the rest of us are.

I'm adopted. No, really, I am.

{{{MELON PRESS}}} Carla

Have I ever told you how awesome I think your sig line is?

I'm doing great today, for the first time in forever. I went on a very gnarly 30-minute MTB ride (I should take pics of what I ride on, both the bike and the surfaces/terrain, ha) and I have only got the tiniest smidgen of upper body pain (needing to control the bike on rough grounds/descents, IOW, normal).

I am SO excited.
