abrezo - 2011-04-01 1:26 PM Don't know if this has been mentioned before, iamtri.com, there is a link for imky and a member there has put together six or so dates for course preview with sag in Louisville. I will post a link and dates when I get home from work.Adam

Hi Adam - here's the link for the course preview/training group weekends: http://iamtri.com/group/ironmanlouisville2011

I will be attending the July 23rd version, FYI.  I imagine the bike course will seem short after a 15 hour drive to get there!

japarker....
Their Cont GP4000 Black Chili's 20cm, ran 23cm last year and the fork on the Argon is so tight inside I had only about 1-2cm clearance and had it rub at Macon R&Rman in the heat (heat index 106). With the 20cm tires I have about 4cm clearance on sides/ top = stress free.
They felt good/smooth today @ 125psi.
Once I get the Swift wheels I plan on running the Cont Comps or GP4000 tubies (700x22) on them also...great tires.

Hey, how's everyone's training going?!?! Spring is finally here and the weather is just awesome! I had a half marathon yesterday and got a sweet little PR! 1:54:16 was my official result (last year was 1:57:07) and I'm very happy with it. I have some things to work on before my full marathon on April 30, but overall I'd say it's a really good indicator of my fitness as of right now! It's supposed to be 78F today, but also 30-40 mph winds... I'm thinking about getting out on the bike a little. I figure it's good practice just in case it's windy on race day!

Have a good week everyone!

Congrats on your PR, Ashleigh!!  I'm attempting to break that 2 hour mark for a Half Marathon on May 1, my current PR is 2:00:22 - ugh, almost!!  Awesome job!

It is extremely windy here today, too.  3 hour ride left me feeling punished at the end.  Head winds so brutal I was barely hitting 15 or 16 MPH on the downhills!  Oh well, like you said, I will be well prepared for winds come race day.

Good training week.  I upped my schedule to 11 workouts per week this year (3 swims, 4 bikes, 4 runs) and this was my first full week of that schedule (it's actually week 3 for me; however, I had to modify weeks 1 & 2 due to my work schedule).  So far, so good.

Happy Training!!

Great job Ashleigh! Way to go! My HM goal for this year is sub 1:50, my current HM PR is 1:51:17, I hope I get a chance to do a HM before IMLOU, this ITBS has put a dent in a lot of my running plans.

I had a good brick yesterday. I rode 21.5 miles in 1:05, then ran 4 miles in my new zoot tempo 3.0's in 33:30, so I'm getting to where I want to be, my 20 week ironman training plan starts on the 12th.

Yep, I ran the Lincoln Presidential Half Marathon. 3rd year in a row. It's getting better! This year there were a lot more spectators too!

Love the Argon!  Should be a fun ride.

Are you riding on a Jet 6/9 or something else?  Is that your set for IML?

Thanks.  Enjoy the training.

Thats my set right now....I got a sponsorship with Swift Carbon this yr. and their sending me their 80CM Carbon Tubies this week so if all goes well riding the tubies thru july I might ride them @ IMLOU. If I feel more comfident on the clinchers, then I'll run the Jet 6/9.

Thanks for the feedback.  I am shopping around, looking at different wheels for IMLou.  Budget of $1200-1500, but not quite sure what I want yet.

Saturday's first ride with the new wheels was quite an adventure!  The past few days have been very windy here in NC, so we really should have called off the ride, but hindsight is 20/20 you know.  Anyway, with the wind and the H3 wheels, I was getting blown around quite a bit.  At mile 44 of our 50 mile ride, I had a flat on my rear wheel.  This is the first time that I've had to change a tube on the side of the road and the first time I've used a CO2 cartridge instead of a pump.  Got the tube/tire/wheel back on and finished out the ride.  I wish I had timed myself, but I didn't think about it at the time.  At least I know I can do it now.......

Would anyone who is also doing the Be Iron Fit program mind telling me what this week's bike and run workouts are for the Intermediate program?  I can't seem to find my book at the moment.  I have a good idea what they are but need to make sure.  Thanks in advance!

Any big training plans this weekend?

It is finally supposed to be nice here in Wisconsin (70ish). I am planning on Sat trying to head out and ride one loop of the Ironman Wisconsin bike course.

Still some light snow and slush in Anchorage.  Today I am swimming 2500 yards, running an hour.  Saturday I will ride the trainer for 3 hours and sunday will run for 1.5 hours.

I was under the weather last weekend and missed out on Friday-Sunday.  that was discouraging, but i have to put it behind me.

Argg....was supposed to do Nautica South Beach Olympic this weekend but due to a VERY sore shin I will pass to prevent any major damage. Went to the Doc this am to make sure I did not have a stress fx and thankfully it is a very bruced tibia bone probably due to 2 things: hitting my shin bone against a hospital bed that almost made me pass out from the pain and changing running shoes...

So lots of biking and swimming in the next week!!! I am booking my hotel for Loui this weekend ;-)

A group of us are getting out the wetsuits for OWS practice on Sunday (followed by a bike ride).  My 1st OWS race is next Saturday (time trial start, just like Louisville).

Hello.
I'm waaay behind and a bit out of touch. I've been in Florida all week visiting summer. I'm back home in spring and getting ready to get back to 'normal'.
After scanning all the posts it looks like everyone is training and racing well. Keep it up!
We drove through LOU on the way to and from FL...definately the highlight of my travel to and fro as the excitement builds.
Peace,
~Sam

Welcome back Sam,

I hope you are going to be able to race IM Lou, I was a little sad when I read your blog post about you potentially not starting.

TriSam...hang in there buddy. Im dealing with some injury issues also. Been having heel pain last 2 weeks, (maybe beginning P.F.?) off to the Ortho on wed for a look see. Everytime it starts to feel better and I run, it flairs back up. Hitting the water bottle roller, anti-inflamatory meds and resting it. I know the feeling, so hard to sit still. Mostly swimming and riding now. First race on the 30th, fingers crossed for the both of us!!

Thanks for all the support. I'm hangin' in there and trying to be optimistic.
I can't help but to play many scenarios through my head to prepare for whichever situtation I might end up facing on race day. ...but then I try to focus on a day at a time.
Peace,

Did the second sprint tri of the year yesterday, some fast girls out there. It was a 500/13/3.1, time was 1:10:28, I placed 3rd overall female. Was a really fun race to do before the official start of my 20-week ironman plan tomorrow.
