actually, this is one of those posts that got all messed up and I couldn't figure out how to fix it Sal is the one doing the race I want to know if he'll be wearing Sparco yellow - Oh, and it does seem like a good photo opp!!! Uh...yeah...do you remember where I live? Uh...37 and snow showers predicted for Thanksgiving morning... If I were smart, I would be wearing my footsie pajamas, a plaid flannel shirt, a mink coat and my tuke... Uh...haven't seen any type of photo race motivation like Hector got... yeah, right - it will be cold - well, umm then - how about some pre-race pics motivational pics - you are right - my bad! (in my defense, this is the first time the race was mentioned on the thread - and Dee is missing - she is usually the one that promises motivational pics on my behalf - LOL) (yes, I know, I'm posting and not working on my presentation - bad Beth, bad!) So work on your presentation now. Make the boss happy so you keep your job that allows you to stay here and play! Was that motivation? Just what I needed! A little kick in the azz :-) Ok, now I'm closing my browser - ttyl COMEON Beth. You can do it. Push the button! |

Yeah, my friend called last night...his company offered to sponsor a couple of entry fees, so I recruited my wife and another couple (budding triathletes who just moved to Minnesota)...ha, are they in for a rude awakening... Beth, ha. I just sat down with the director reviewing my presentation for MONDAY...we talked revisions and I should be done with it later this afternoon...score!...so...how's your presentation going?...I'm so mean... |

Sal, good luck on the 5K. Somehow I think you can handle it. A marathon before a 5K? That's just nuts! Hello Mila, Beth, Kendra and Tammy!!! Well my chiro kind of rained on my parade. She did not like the feel of my ropy hip flexor at all. She fussed at me for ab work, she fussed at me for running. She told me all I was doing was laying muscle on top of knots that need to be gone before I can add strength. Also that I was most likely fraying the ends of my tendons by trying to stretch without the knots gone and that I could risk another tear. Well, eff!!!!!! WTF am I supposed to do? Hi Pam! |

Did she have any estimate on how long she thought that might be? No. She thought it should be healed by now. She is afraid that it has healed around the knots and that the knots are now set in. So when I stress my hip flexor, my body fights back with immflamation. So she believes I have to "break it back down" before I can move forward. |

I don't feel like there was any good news. I can't afford to get it massaged 3x a week. I guess I can always swim and bike. That's what I did to prepare for my HIM with the injury. I just like to do my strength work now, so the heavy-duty lifting is over well-before my race season. I know it's inflamed. I can feel it. The lifting didn't seem to bother it, just the running. Maybe I'll try the elliptical? I dunno. |

PAM, Sorry to hear all the issues your having, I hope your able to find a happy medium till it heals up completely. Thanks. It's just one of those things. I'll get through it. Tomorrow I'm still going to go to yoga because that didn't use as much abdominals as pilates. I think I am still going to lift, just get rid of the hip specific exercises. Thanksgiving week will be a recovery week. I'll still lift on Monday, but that will probably be it for the week. My brother and his family will be in town so I'd probably be too busy to workout anyhow. I go back to the chiro on the 29th. I'll just do some self-massage that she showed me to help get rid of the knots. |
