What do you mean by a 'semi BT swim'?  Forgive my ignorance.

Does anyone know if there will be race day wheel rentals available at IM Canada. TBT doesn't have this listed as an event and race day wheels will be in Louisville. I got a new bike and my quarq power meter is on back order. So I'd like to rent some Zipps with a power tap.

Thanks for any feedback.

Chat with the Bike Barn in Penticton. They would have some. But may be spoken for already.

I called the Bike Barn today and they said they didn't have any or know where to get them. I guess I can always have some shipped, but that's a bit more of a hassle than picking them up on site.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Yes. Would be great to get a group of folks swimming all in the same direction, ie,  not head on!  Last year, we tried to practice swim and it bordered on dangerous, because people were going in all directions.  Let us know where and when you are thinking.

3 week taper for me.  Starting to get anxious already, which isn't a good sign for people around me over the next 2.5 weeks...

I'm happy I still have some time to recover before race day.  I swear the last few weeks my coach was trying to kill me

Well Its taper time and looking at my program life is good.  This will be my second full IM.  Last year I did IMC and what an experience.  for all the first timers if you done the work you'll be there at the finish.  I'm an older participant at 57 years old but what great venue. Last years water problems will be in the past no doubt but aside form that what a spectacular venue and if you don't enjoy the bike ride your not alive.  Rickters pass is very much overblown, Its a big hill but its in tiers so you climb then recoup then climb and recoup. I was all worried about it coming form the prairies and while work it was certainly doable even for us prairie boys.

So far as the mass start for the swim, don't fret let the speedsters go and hang back for a minute or so and you'll have lots of room. For most of us it aint about the podium its about a personal accomplishment, about seeing what we are made of.

Best treats I put into my personal care bag for the run and ride were a frozen bottle of Gatorade. NOt that the ironman stuff wasn't good just the change was heavenly and my body loved the taste of still partially frozen porange gatorade.

Last year was brutal hot and having salt tablets was a must. Hopefully the temps will be more moderate but if there was one thing you might want to make sure you have with you its lots of sodium and electrolytes just in case of the heat.

well thats all from this rookie, enjoy, and cherish every moment and if you are somewhere in that 13 - 14 hour mix we'll probably cross paths.

read you blog on the June race - wow - tough day...

They say character is who you are in the dark.  No to worry about IMC you showed your character, you've been there and beat it. My hats off to you.

Enjoy the day and some great Canadian hospitality...

Did anyone else notice that they will be selling straps for timing chips?  I ave my own but for the race entry fee they should at least give you one to use for the day!  Not to mention the nightmare this is for the volunteers to remove every chip from the straps as people finish...it takes some time.
