Pro 4541 A farming town in MN | Subject: RE: May "President's Cup" challenge - US Central Team Jenni G - 2008-05-01 2:42 PM Hey Techie! The Monster's Inc. team listing is hilarious! How do I get it into my goals section? Sparco - I'm with you. I can only manage to breathe every other stroke, right side too! Someday, I hope to be relaxed enough to get to a three stroke. Practicing bi-lateral this morning (every 3rd stroke) felt VERY comfortable, but after about 100 yds, I felt like I was going into oxygen deficit. Maybe I'm doing something wrong... |

Veteran 171 Springfield, Illinois | Subject: RE: May "President's Cup" challenge - US Central Team I'm so glad to hear you guys say that. I'm so uncomfortable in the water right now and my swim instructors are always pushing me to go faster and breathe on the third or fourth stroke. I have been finding that the more I push toward those things, the faster I fall apart and get mental blocks, etc. It's nice to know that it's acceptable to do what feels right at the time. Thanks, guys! And thanks for all the neat-o work on the team links. It's very much appreciated! |

How bout I run for you instead? But I like running. Albeit slowly...but I like it. Biking...that's a whole 'nother beast I'd avoid if I could. Some days I think I'd rather be out there on a big wheel instead of my road bike. |

Maybe I'm doing something wrong... I just ordered a new DVD from Total Immersion that addresses only the breathing thing. Supposedly, it's full of tips and tricks on how to breathe easier for those of us who struggle. I can't wait til it arrives, I'm counting on it being the key to my success! I'll let you know if it works... |

I'm just making sure the Monster's are training, then I PROMISE I'm off to run. I just got some new swim goodies in the mail. New jammers, a pull buoy, and some paddles. Whee. Also, since I was three bucks short of the free shipping, I picked up this shirt. Learn it and live it, Monsters! |

Stuck in the middle with you. Has your wetsuit come in, Barb? That would make a cool team name: Stuck in the middle with you...

It's hard to say no to pixie dust and a cattle prod. Wait. It's not even May yet. Too early for the cattle prod? ROTFLMAO!!! So, for the record, I've only ever used pixie dust I have maybe threatened to borrow Dee's cattle prod or Mila's whip...................I mean, I will use what ever it takes to motivate and inspire..........
ok, I take that back - I did have to resort to pom poms in the November challenge - lol We wouldn't complain if you brought those back...is it time to introduce the team to the finer points of invisible font? A most excellent point |

I used to love biking . . . on my mountain bike! It would have easily been my favorite over running!! This is my first season of tri's though and I just bought a tri bike . . . WOAH is that different! Hopefully as I get more time on it I will enjoy the biking more again! I'm just a little out of my comfort zone (read: incredibly shaky while I ride - don't get too close!) right now. Being from NE, I also haven't had many good days to get outside and haven't had much of a chance to practice hills! I really need to find some before the Kansas 70.3 to practice on!!! Hopefully I'll see ya out there! I love meeting fellow BT'rs! I hear ya on hoping to survive it - YIKES!! Lunch is over Back to work . . . Renee Renee, do you and Beth (lastcall2003) know each other? She's originally from Omaha, but took a new job in Philly...I think she's met mr2tony. Yep, we've met And had the pleasure of a little swim workout - hehe - I've known mr2tony since he was just a pup! |

TinkerBeth 23096 Liverpool, New York | Subject: RE: May "President's Cup" challenge - US Central Team ok, so here's my intro (I know, it's about time ) I'm Beth, aka Lastcall2003, aka tinkerbeth I am a challenge junkie - haven't missed one since September. I have found them to be a great way to I have 3 great kids - J, K, and C - boy, girl, boy, 18, 17, 12. They are fantastic kids and I am a very lucky woman! Lastcall2003 represents a turning point in my life - 2003 is the year I woke up and realized that I needed to do something about being 30 lbs over weight with high blood pressure, having become completely inactive, and well, not liking who I was very much. It is a reminder to me to never let myself go back to being that person! I swam competitively in high school and am more than happy to share any knowledge/advice that I might have (remember it's free advice, so it might not be worth much ) that is all

, Texas | Subject: RE: May "President's Cup" challenge - US Central Team Woah, I'm never going to keep up with y'all. It's the 1'st of May and we're already going through 5 pages. As for bi-lateral breathing, here are my two tips:
I did a stint where I pretty much swam all bi-lateral breathing and these were the two things that helped me the most. |
