Racquetball... this tourney sucks!!   I hate doubles b/c of all the time conflicts people have and you're dealing with FOUR people instead of two... gets a little stressful.

NOthin' wrong spending your rest day with the kids... remember playing IS their workout

So I FINALLY got another workout in today...

Was lazing around after getting the boys off and saw that "Higher Ground" was on (Warren Miller film for those non-ski bums)
Decided it was some great motivation get the legs going... so I did an absurb amount of different variations of squats, lunges, and other things of the like... just kind of le tthe background music and ski style determine what to do... Have you ever tried to do deep side leaps while watching a ski run, you only leap when they turn or flip and you hold that one legged squat deep until they do... was great for balance...

THe snow is still on the ground today from yesterday.... 14'' at the 'Bird (something like a total of 40" with the storm)... I'm SO jonesing for skiing.....

I am sooo not looking forward to the snow!  Possibly as early as this weekend, but with all the warm weather that we've had, it won't stick... yet.

Well, I had a good MTB ride today with Trixie and her friend Zak.  We spent some serious energy maintaining speed on this course at Sleepy Hollow State Park (MI).  Felt the burn for sure - in my legs, lungs, all over.  We rode for a bit more than an hour and covered 10.5 miles.  Great workout!

Sweet!  Great job this week!  I'll also be going for the point after.

Keep up the good work Air Wingers!  Don't forget to update the spreadsheet and if you have questions about how to do this PM me.  While you're at it, keep up your BT Training Log with your workouts.  Week one is almost done (Tomorrow).  Let's get those number up!

Do you all want to attempt any planned workouts / goals for our team? Say 2 days next week we all do a specific workout on a specific day?  Like Boot Camp from across the world.  If anyone is interested I'll set up a 30ish minute PT style workout.  Basics: Push Ups, Sit Ups, Squats... you could call it calisthenics - "Cali Day"

Remember: The only easy day was yesterday!

You all name it and I'll try it. I don't think I am in the same league as you all fitness wise, but heck, I'll try most anything. I am 5 for this week so I'll go for 6 tomorrow.

I don't think I am in the same league as you all fitness wise, but heck, I'll try most anything.

The only league that counts for this competition is the one that we are already in... together!  We are the Air Wingers!!

30 Minutes a day!

I'll work on getting something set up - sit ups, push ups, squats etc.  No weights for Cali Day - body weight only.  Cardio first then Cali's.  We'll keep it to a 30 minute workout.  You can make adjustments to the workout to make it work for you.  Put forth your best effort and the time is what matters.

LSU25 - 2008-11-05 12:38 PM Just played soccer at recess with the kindergarteners for 25 minutes….hahaha they are brutal…going for a run later though after XC practice. ( Maybe I’ll just run with the team or after practice on the track)

Thanks for the prayers for the cat, he’s doing much better…they put in a feeding tube and he should be out of ICU by Sunday.

The Wii Fit is great, I use it for the yoga and bodyweight strengths. Of course it will never take the place of a workout but I like it as a nice little “tool” and if you have kids I defiantly recommend it, its fun with the kids.

Glad to hear about your cat!

We have a Wii and we love it.  We don't have Wii fit though...

Today was a crazy crazy but great day, found out the little guy can come home Saturday just in time for the LSU / Bama game.

Also, have 5 workouts down for the week....tomorrow will count as the extra point right? I like this M-F thing, I play with the kids at recess and they think its so funny that a teacher plays soccer with them ( I teach kindergarten) so by the time I get home I already have 15 minutes down.

Great job all and I hope everyone has a great weekend.

20 minutes on the seated stepper working on range of motion and 10 minutes of upper body gives me a 4th workout for the week. Should be able to get to 6 by Saturday (we get Saturday, right?) Either way I will get 5 tomorrow.

Sorry I've been AWOL from the forums for most of the challenge...I've managed to log at least 30 minutes doing something everyday. However, I managed to jack my leg up pretty bad a couple weeks ago running a 10k. That being said, my workouts for this month may look a little odd as I work around my injury.

Back to the doc tomorrow for my leg.

Hi folks,

I haven't been around for a couple of days because I'm fighting a cold. But I did get in a 30 minute walk yesterday and today. One good thing (well, sort ofFrown) is I've lost my sense of taste. I just might lose some weight with this cold! It's no fun to eat if you can't taste.

I'll try to catch up on the messages tomorrow.

CALI DAY Routine - Based on a US Navy SEALs / NSWCG Workout

Here is an option for a Cali Day Routine.  This will not fit everyone, however, I'll show the options / variables in italics.  As it stands right now it probably will take about 45 minutes with the warmup of 10 minutes.  You could cut out a few of the exercies in order to knock it down to 30 minutes.  Also, this is a body weight routine: No Weights (unless you choose to do lat pull downs rather than pullups).  Let me know if you have questions.  Hoorah!

Warmup:

Swim, Bike or Run or whatever makes you happy for 10 Minutes

Jumping Jacks 50
Half Jumping Jacks 30

Pull:

Lat Pull Down on a Machine using whatever weight you can in order to complete 4 sets of 4 reps.

Close Grip Pullup 4
Wide Grip Pullup 4
Regular Grip Pullup 4
Reverse Grip Pullup 4+ (Chinup)

Push:

If you are unable to complete this many pushups, make the attempt to use the bent knee option.  For the dips use a chair rather than actual dip bars.  You could also use a chair and elevate your feet.

Dips 4x10
Regular Pushup 2x10
Triceps Pushup 2x8
Regular Pushup 10
Triceps Pushup 10
Wide Grip Pushup 6
Regular Pushup 10
Triceps Pushup 10

Abdominal:

Complete as many situps as possible.  You can alternate with crunches, but get your shoulder blades up.

Situps 50
Cross Arm Situps 50
Flutter Kicks 20
Half Situps 15
Cruncher Situps 30
Atomic Situps 20

Legs

Split Lunges 20
Squats 200

Calf Raises:

Charlie Chaplains 25
Pigeon Toed 25
Regular 30

Squats 100

That looks great for a cali day. I'll modify mine for the ab workout I already do and the 100 push up/ 6 weeks challenge that I am working through. I also have to modify for no machines so I use weights at home.  This should be interesting.

Everyone is rocking this challenge. It is great to be part of.

I will be away from the boards this weekend- I have a memorial service to go to. Hopefully I will get something in training.

CALI DAY Routine - Based on a US Navy SEALs / NSWCG Workout

That looks awsome. I plan on trying a version of that tonight, sans the push-up part as I am also doing  the 100 push-up challenge and this is my off day.

Thanks

Didn't do the CALI workout this morning, but just a short core workout:

Squats, bench press, shoulder press, wide and closed-grip lat pulldowns, leg curls, Supermans and crunches.

35 minutes.
