its gonna be SOME day today.

spin this am.

then a quick trip to the OB-GYN.  [schedule your annuals ladies, if you havent already]

my youngest sons Open House this eve.  YAY!  i love how excited he is about us coming!  too cute.

REST DAY tomorrow.

then tackling the beast of an 11 miler on Saturday.

its that mental block thing, we were talking about.

ive run this distance before, but....

its just wagging its ugly finger in front of my face for some reason.  probably cuz my 10 miler was so UGH-ish.

im contemplating running down at the trail just to mix it up, and it would give me something to look foward to ie motivation.

i *heart* the trail (rails to trail, crushed limestone, in the woods) and i havent been there in ages.  i used to ride my hybrid bike there all the time before i had my expensive road-one.  the limestone dust makes the chain all gritty....so i dont 'dare' ride there now.

and i used to do bike/run bricks there too, in the Spring.

so....i miss it.

this would give me a 'reason' to look forward to my 11 miler [can you tell im talking myself into this one....]

i still have a 12 miler next week, so i could do that on the road.  nothing 'lost'.

i promised/challenged myself to do all my long runs outside/on the road in prep for this 1/2 MARY.  i used to do the majority of my trng on the TM, and found come race day i wasnt as prepared as i could have been to 'deal' w running on the road.

but im thinking one run on the trail for purely motivational reasons is NOT a 'deal breaker'.

isnt it grand that as athletes we have OPTIONS?

gotta love em.

and isnt that was its all about....

RUNNING HAPPY?

Good morning GHOULIES!!!!

I hope everyone had a good evening.

Question for the Hal's Gals

When you're running 3 days in a row, what kind of intensity do you do on the middle day shorter run? I only had to run 2 miles last night and I pushed it a little harder than I do when on the first and third days. Is that right or am I doing it backwards?

I am not a Hal's Gal but I think you did it right - at least that is how I handle my runs.  Day 1 of the week - slow Day 2 - slow - Day 3 - Hard - Day 4 - Recover - Day 5 Depends

So far what I have going is
day 1 - slow
day 2 - harder
day 3 - slow
day 4 - off
day 5 - longer run, not sure of tempo yet

i think that 'progression' looks great, ANN.

and the beauty of Hals plans...you can tailor it so it works for you.

RUN HAPPY!
stacieb

I agree with Stacie...the beauty is that you can change it up...I generally do what you had been doing...running the middle faster because it is shorter and I inherently run it faster.

I think you should run it on the trail...that way you will be looking forward to it...and its not the treadmill so it will still have many of the same challenges of the road.

Morning everyone!!! I got 6 miles in this morning (I know I know I changed the plan again ) I was afraid I would bail on it with my parents here this weekend, so I decided to get it out of the way.

willie05 - 2009-10-07 7:58 PM I was kind of planning on running this evening, but a couple things got in the way:

1) Didn't really feel like it

and

2) Today is my birthday, so decided to go out to dinner instead!

I'm out of town for a night in Chicago, so went out for a couple of beers and dinner and watched the playoffs for some sport that hasn't existed in Pittsburgh for almost a generation now.

Run early tomorrow!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY yesterday!

I say go for the trail run.  Since you are looking forward to it you may be more apt to have a good run.  That will help you forget last week and help you start thinking more positively toward next week's 12er on the road

Go Ghoulies!

Bill is not jealous of Kendra's work schedule at all - bleck!

Is that typical or is it just a busy time right now?

It is not typical, or at least didn't used to be.  Since budget cuts I have noticed that I am working a lot of long hours.  But right now it is due to a Gwinnett Reads Program where we get the county to all read one book (ha I think most of them don't) and out big program is Sunday the 18th and we have a bunch of smaller programs leading up to the big author program and I am supposed to attend as many of the small programs as I can.  Which means I will get put to work at each of these programs.  so the weekend of the big program when the library is closed for Sun and Mon I get to work both of those days.  Don't know when I'll be able to take off.
