Got up early and did 5 miles at the indoor track.  Then cooled down with 500m swim.  I am getting back into the swing of things.

Hi all. I guess my motivation is actually what turns my crank~the great feeling you get mentally when your in shape.

I started the couch potato to 5K plan Monday and day one and two have went well. I did get on the stationary bike after my run yesterday and only made it 1.8 miles in 10 mins! Biking is def my weakest of the three. Is it realistic to think I can do a Sprint Triathlon on April 17? I think I need to follow a couch potato to Sprint plan from this site. I'm still going to shoot for the Sprint Tri in April, three days before my 35th bday. What a great bday present to myself, but wow, what a long road to get there!

I definitely think your sprint triathlon is realistic. You're taking the first steps, but you'll get there!

April is perfect. Its close enough to shoot for but far enough away to train for. Anyone can complete a triathlon. We train because we want to finish it faster than we would other wise

For the next part of the group I have a chunk of homework for everyone. There are 84 hours in a week. I would like you to take this number and subtract from it everything else you do besides train. Everything like work, commuting, sleep, eating, family time, rest, shopping, and everything else you can think of that you do. If you do this then the number left is the amount of time you have to train without making workouts a stress or having to sacrifice something else. With this number you will then be able to make up workouts that fit into your life. When finished please post your number.

Have a great day today.

I went for a swim over lunch today. At first my goal was 1000m, then I went to 1600 andfinally settled on 2000 even. I actually swam 500m then decided that was enough. My shoulders are out of shape. The cardio was there but the shoulders need a little TLC getting going. Gotta start somewhere.

You know, I was feeling pretty good about my 1000 yard swim today until your posting.  You make me feel like a slacker.  Just kidding.  I do like that there are others out there keeping me honest.  I really didn't want to swim today but knew I had to post my swim workout on my log.  It really does help me.

What if I post a negative number for the amount of time I have to train???

I haven't started my "homework" yet, but I recently discovered that the book Training for Triathlon in 4 hours a week (or something close to that) is available in its entirety on Google books. I thought that was pretty cool.

I ran!
I dropped the kids at my folks, and ran from their house. It wasn't too bad. Overall I did 26 minutes, which included some walking. I layered well, but my toes froze up. I hate that! I already feel stiffness creeping into my quads and hamstrings. My hammies were sore right at the beginning, probably from the trainer.

Two days in a row! Amazing! Actually it was a total fluke that I logged into BT when the Mentor groups were open, but I thought I'd take advantage, and it's already doing me good to have a group I'm accountable too.

Thanks!

Hi all,
Good job on getting your swims in Scott and John!

Got my 3 miles in on the dreadmill.  Didn't get to go swimming yesterday as the weather was getting bad in the afternoon.

picked out an indoor triathlon and a couple of half marathons to do this spring.  Feels good to get them on the calendar!  Now to figure out where my 84 hours go.

got another swim in today...i was actually able to swim 100 yards without stopping!  pretty amazing for me!  I ended up swimming a total of 700 yards...with the last 100 being the breast stroke.  It is getting a little easier then the first time.

I plan to run in the morning then i get my new bike in the afternoon.  I plan to swim saturday morning and bike saturday afternoon and sunday afternoon.

work has been crazy...busy time of year for me.  I am a CFO at a credit union and we are doing our year end stuff and we just completed a merger....lots going on.

I am really enjoying everyone's chatter...you are helping me stay motivated!

hey everyone keep up the good work!

so now that u am finally over my cold and have a few days off i can play catch up on the posts

so my goals for the month are

to get in a 3-4 mile run twice a week

to get in a 20 mile bike twice a week

3-5 cross training sessions

Now for the homework

i work rotating 12 hour shifts so one week i work 56 hours and the other 24, but i have two jobs and the other is an hour away and i put in 5-10 hrs a week.

so with family time in the evening i have the excercise bike in the living room and ride while everyone else watchs TV

so my short weeks to work are when i am trying to get in my  maximu running and biking goals and my long weeks to work are when i can  hit the minimum goals

i found a swim partner to help me with my form (every other tues and thurs) so starting next week Thursday i am going to start working on that
