Do you all recommend getting a coach to help prepare for a Full Ironman?  I have never used a coach before and just followed training plans.  So far I have been able to complete my events without too much pain.  I have completed 2 HIMS, 6 Olys, 2 Intls and 10+ sprints.  Also completed 2 Full marathons, 3 Half marathons and various 5Ks and 10Ks.

Just looking for advice since the FULL IRONMAN is a whole another beast to tackle.  I just could not pass this one up since it's so close to home.

I used the BT plan for my first two IMs. I just finished Kansas 70.3 and used Mark Allen Online for my 20 week plan. I set a HIM PR by 35 min. I will be using MAO for my IMTX plan.

I did a bit for ABC local news with Memorial Hermann. As a thank you, they hooked me up with a visor. I think it will air on Tuesday for those in the Houston area. I figure I will come off looking like a total goober, but that's life.

If I had more, I would definitely share. If I catch wind of more hats I will let you know.

A little late on the "I'm In!" posts... but I'm in too... IM #2!

Nice lid TJ!  I missed the report Ryan Korsgard (reporter & fellow tri geek) did last week on this event.  Liking all the positive coverage!  This is gonna be such a fun journey!  Training groups ~ post race parties!  Awesomeness Texas style!

That's awesome, congrats on your HIM PR, 35 min is huge.  I appreciate the feedback.  This is going to be a great race.  I still get pumped when I lace up and hit the road.

On a side note, is this the plan that you followed the first time arround:
http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/cms/article-detail.asp?articleid=441

I am following this one now, but may still consider some coaching 6 months out.

Sorry about the reply format, but it does not seem to work for me when I try to reply to an individual.

Very excited about the race, folks. they have been talking about this for years and it's finally nice to see it happen. I believe the bike will be 2 loops and the run possibly 3? Totally manageable, right?! . Excited about taking the Austin folks out there to do some long training weekends. Send me a PM if you want to be part of the "Austinites Going to TXIM mailing list!"

Nope...I do too!

I think Keith needs to be spending a little less time up in New England and a little more time taking care of our needs

I've been hoping that the bike course will be posted by next weekend so I can go down and drive it. It is one of the few weekends this entire summer that I have no kids' activities or other obligations. PERFECT for a road trip.
